Tony Franklin Speaks Out
Former Auburn offensive coordinator Tony Franklin ended his silence on Wednesday, speaking out about his firing two weeks ago. He appeared on the Paul Finebaum Radio Show.
Although I've been critical of Finebaum at times, he did ask the right questions. Before commenting, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Below are the links to the interview.

Missing question
I wish finebaum would have asked him why he played Chris todd over kodi burns when it was apparent that chris todd wasnt physically able to perform at his highest level.
This also makes me think that it will be very hard to find another offensive coordinator
I once asked the question why are there so many Alabama fans that never graduated from the university? I was told its because their parents were fans and it was passed down.........(my response after a pause).....similar to racism.....?
I agree with your latter comment.
How many has it been now? 6 OCs – in 8 years? This does not bode well for Auburn football’s future.
I think
tubbs might let go of some of his people after this season because after this a Good OC wont come there without their own people

I agree.....
Tuberville will probably lose some of the offensive staff if not all of them. But I don’t think he will have a hard time filling the OC position with a quality hire given the talent that has been recruited for the spread this year and last season. And AU is still a move up for most coaches out there.
Finebaum is still Finebaum.....
The interview was directed at one thing and one thing only…….make Tuberville look bad. Franklin was allowed to skate on his “Patton” speach…….never getting grilled on what was said in that speach. I don’t think that Tuberville will have a hard time getting a good OC to take the job. And as far as Tubervilles criticisism of Franklins play calling…….so what? If the criticism was founded (and we have all wondered why the play calling was going a particular way) then suck it up take your medicine and do better. I have been told that Franklins “Patton speach” was a meltdown that belittled certain players. Why wasn’t that addressed? I have said all along that Tuberville has taken the high road by not disclosing the nitty gritty of Franklins meltdown….. I sure would like to hear the other side of the story.
"Relief," would have to be my reaction!
……I had to work the 3-11 shift yesterday, and right after I got started with my shift, many of my co-workers announced that Tony Franklin was on Finebaum. I was too busy to listen, of course, but I was kind of worried what bombs would be dropped, a day before the big game in Morgantown. As it turned out, I needn’t have worried.
…..First thing, I hate Finebaum. I’m reminded again, on my first listen in years, that his primary mission is to stir up trouble. Amazingly, he really didn’t get it done, this time. Franklin really didn’t reveal anything that we didn’t already know. If Tommy Tuberville was making comments about play calls, so what? If I were head coach, I’d have done some screaming, on some of those stinkers, like throwing the ball out of bounds against LSU while we were trying to run the clock with a lead! Draws on third and plus ten. The wounded duck Hail Mary against Vandy that ended Franklin’s play-calling.
…..Bottom line: we were getting worse, not better, on offense. Tuberville did what he had to do, I think.
I liked
that Franklin didn’t reveal anything he may have said to individual players. I also don’t think he was overly critical of Auburn. The guy still has to work, and he won’t get many offers if he’s bad-mouthing his previous employer.
So there we go. We have one side of the story, and fortunately or unfortunately, we will never get the other side—that’s just Tubs…
I couldn’t believe one of the commercials on the show bad-mouthing Tuberville. I don’t listen to him and that’s one of the reasons I gave up reading the Troll’s columns last year. It’s just so blatantly biased…

easy to laugh
it’s easy to laugh when you have your 4th coach in 10 years and it is costing 4 mill.
it only cost bama so much because of the way they treat their coaches. coordinators move in and out of positions all the time. were is applewhite-texas? is that a trend to look forward to in west alabama? careful not to point the finger. franklin wasn’t a tiger, shula was a bamer. finebaum is looking for his 10million o’riely deal.
