Tony Franklin=DEATH

This game versus Vandy tonight was an ABSOLUTE emberassment! If not for our defense we would not have won any games this season....Tony Franklin is sabotaging out football team. We have so much talent on our team and he is single-handedly sending this season down the toilet. Tommy Tub needs to GET RID OF TONY FRANKLIN ASAP....like tonight....before the bus pulls out of Nashville. We can salvage this season; our boys CAN do it. We're going to have to get rid of Tony Franklin first!! He's not Auburn material-he's a pathetic excuse for an offensive coordinator.

I Tried...

Not to jump on the “Fire Tony Franklin” bandwagon, BUT after tonight…where do I sign up???

For those wishing Tony Franklin gone...

Perhaps you should read this post and realize it might not be Franklin’s offense that is the problem. Playcalling, yes, but maybe not his offense.

An embarrassing display of football.....

but I have never and will never be embarrassed to be an AU fan and that includes the 9-0 bammer run and the barfield era.

We played embarrassing football, but I’d rather lose like that as an Auburn fan than be a USC fan and do what they’ve been doing.

he was good enough

for the Troy Trojans. Maybe Auburn just doesn’t have the same talent that Troy had.

How astute....

It is no doubt that AU’s sidelines are crammed with talent for the power running game……but that hasn’t translated well to the spread. Again, thank you, for stating the obvious although I doubt you intended such a profound statement but rather a weak minded slam at AU. I would gladly pack your bags for your steam boat ride.

by Todd92 on Oct 8, 2008 2:17 PM CDT up reply actions

hahaha

wow. what a scholar. Todd, I honestly think Troy would beat Auburn. I think Auburn might be the fourth or maybe fifth best football team in the state of Alabama. 1) the Crimson 2) Troy Trojans 3) the North Alabama Lions 4) either Auburn or St. Paul’s High School in Mobile (it’s a toss up really). And it wasn’t really a slam at AU, I honestly think your OC, Head Coach, wide receivers that can’t catch, and you’re qb’s that can’t do anything at all, are doing enough “slamming” for the entire Bama nation. Thanks Tony!!!

I'll pack Franklin's suitcase for him!!!

After the Mississippi State game I wrote an entry that said if we didn’t WAKE UP , it was going to be a long year. After the LSU game I got caught in the Fire Franklin hype. After some advice from fellow fans , I relaxed and figured that I would give Franklin the benefit of the doubt . BOY WAS I WRONG!! So AMAwareagle , if you bring the suitcase , I’ll bring the snacks!! Our team has got to be rid or this disease that is tearing them apart. The defense showed tonight that they are human. And if they have to carry the team, eventually they will falter. Rhodes has done a great job. Unfortunately , “the guru” AND HIS FIFTY CENT OFFENSE FORMATION , JUST SUCKS!!! Now there are the nay sayers who speak of how Borgus offense set was getting steadily worse. Well , “THE GURU” has started out worse than Al would ever have become. The offensive line are beginning to have the mental breakdowns that prevent positive gains . On top of that , Ramsey has now transferred. Something is destroying the team from the inside out, and ,in my opinion ,his name sounds like Tony Franklin . Now , years back when Tubs fired his entire staff to save his skin, some questioned his decision. Now , I think he better clean the offensive slate, or he could find himself in the soup kitchen line. Like I said, AMAwareagle , I am ready when you are to “ROADTRIP”!!

I was all for giving him time as well

But when the power set works for a WHOLE QUARTER, why abandon it? Stupid, stupid, STUPID football

Total agreement.

First quarter, Tate showed good ole’ hard nosed , put my big seven against your front and I’m gonna shove that ball so far up your cavity the next proctological exam you have will prove interesting. But instead , we wind up with the big doctor bill. If it aint broke , dont fix it . Franklin needs to call roto rooter to clean out his head. Its full of something other than an offensive attack.

tubs....TAKE ACTION

Another thing I’m very disappointed in is NOT seeing Tubs step up tonight and intervene…the game was CLEARLY going down the tube. Tony Franklin should have been gone in the 2nd half or at the least we should have seen more input from Tubs. STEP UP TUBS!

by AMAwareagle on Oct 4, 2008 10:43 PM CDT reply actions

Tubby looked careless and emotionless on the sideline, at least when ESPN showed him

That kinda bugged me, but I didn’t get to watch him the whole game.

Somewhere........

Al Borges and Brandon Cox are laughing and enjoying this. I would give my left nut to get them back. Watching Auburn struggle against VANDY?? This is Vandy, and they still suck. Frankies offense is a high school offense, and thats what we looked like. I cant wait for the tell all book after tubs fires him.

by okietigerr on Oct 4, 2008 11:05 PM CDT reply actions

I don't think Cox is laughing

He loves Auburn, we gave him everything he needed, he still has a bunch of friends on the team. He’s probably at least (if not more) tore up about it than we are. Borges probably feels bad for the players (his players), but is laughing at Tubs.

Borges may be laughing

but I doubt that Brandon Cox is. He is an Auburn man and I don’t know of any true Auburn fan that is laughing today.

It is time to fire Franklin.

As an impartial observer...

It seems that Auburn would be better served just lining up in the power I and pounding the ball like Auburn teams of old. The runs from Tate during the 1st quarter seemed to validate this, but the offense shyed away after the goal line stand. I hope for the sanity of you Tiger fans, that something happens, b/c there’s too much talent in Auburn this year to waste to a scheme that doesn’t fit it. Good luck the rest of the way, except of course when we visit the Plains next month.

Practice what you preach Tubbs - DISCIPLINE

Discipline has always been one of the greatest assets of the Auburn Tigers. CTT in the past has always enforced it on and off the field. I am all for it because it produces a team with respect for themselves, each other and last but not least their coaches. Not seeing it Tubbs! This team is not playing as one which it has always done in the past. I bet Cadillac and Ronnie Brown are in shock!! CTT, you need to practice your discipline with your coaching staff. If you want a winning team you don’t need CTF calling the plays. It doesn’t take a genius to see that he is ruining your team and you are allowing it. This team is out to win, not to be made to look like a fool. Same goes for the coaching. Looks like the don’t have the slightest idea how to do their job. I love my Auburn Tigers! This season can be turned around if the right changes are made. We have a great team of guys with a lot of talent. CTT needs to find someone that can show them how to ue it. CTF sure isn’t! If the right thing is done then we might even get a few key players for next year. It is up to you CTT. Do it! It takes a disciplined head coach to run a team and bring them to victory!

hmmmm

I posted somewhere else maybe we should revert back to “Nall Ball”, but after reading the link posted by AuditDawg there may be truth to the thought that we are not even running CTF’s system. Having a high school coach coming into to the AU-UT game and stating that we are not running CTF’s system says that the AU staff never bought into the system. CTF must be given the opportunity to run HIS system IF in fact that is what he was hired to do. Who knows what is happening on the inside. I feel bad for the guys on the team.

TigerinWA

I have to agree with you there. Tony Franklin was hired to come in and run his offense, and apparently he’s been shut out. If I were Franklin, I’d wonder why they even bothered to bring me onboard in the first place. Tubbs could get any O-Coordinator to come in and pound the ball out of the power I, but he obviously hired Franklin to run an offense that had been quite explosive at Kentucky and Troy. I think the rants shouldn’t be to fire Franklin, but why is Auburn not running the offense that he was brought in for.

by AuditDawg on Oct 6, 2008 9:53 AM CDT up reply actions

It's about the team responding...

And so far Auburn’s offense hasn’t responded to Franklin’s offensive schemes or his play-calling. And if a different style of offense is being forced down players’ throats with little or no success to show for it than changes must be made. And being a great coach has just as much to do with making adjustments as developing plays. Franklin has not shown the ability to adjust even within his own spread formation system when the opposing defenses have figured things out. And remember, the rest of his offensive staff have not been a part of this spread offensive system unlike Franklin. Only he knows truly what kind of adjustments need to be made, and unfortunately he’s failing miserably in his leadership role as OC. That is why Tuberville is stepping in and changing the style of offense. He wants to see his players respond, and he wants the coaches to be able to make adjustments to win ball games. If this was only about players not executing then I would think Franklin hasn’t been given a fair shake, but that’s not what I’ve seen in 6 games. He’s trying to force his system with the mindset that eventually his players will just “get it” and make plays no matter what he calls. Sorry Franky, the SEC doesn’t work that way. You just have to find a way to win.

FATAL FRANKLIN FLAW

EXACTLY! the most “FATAL FRANKLIN FLAW” in my opinion is his inability to make adjustments or show any sort of insight when our boys run play after play unsuccessfully. there are those out there that dont think CTF has been given a “fair shake”, but whether or not we’re running “his” offense, his job title is still offensive coordinator…SO FREAKIN COORDINATE. don’t just sit up in that booth like a total moron making the same mistakes quarter after quarter while the rest of us sit at home banging our heads against the wall!

Why Is This Acceptable To Coach Tuberville

Either you accept mediocrity or you don’t.
Either you accept poor preparation or you don’t.
Either you accept less than your best effort or you don’t.
Either you accept failure or you don’t.
Either you accept lack of character or you don’t.

For 10 years Coach Tuberville never accepted anything but the best effort from his players and coaches and now poor preparation, poor execution, and total offensive failure are all accepted…………………….why.

Coach Tuberville would you continue to start a back that didn’t prepare well for games, that lost the confidence of his teammates, that was too slow to hit a hole, and fumbled over and over…………..of coarse you would not, so why you accept the coaching equivalent from Coach Franklin.

There’s a reason no major program would touch this guy, he can’t be trusted, he can’t game plan and he certainly can’t make in game adjustments. He is trying to run a high school offensive against the best college defenses on the planet, and when it fails over and over and over he has no answers. He is a one trick pony and the trick doesn’t work against D Ends, and Linebackers that can run………this isn’t SOCON defensive talent out there, and we can’t attack with SOCON level coaching.

Either you provide your team the best coaching or you don’t.

by danatl on Oct 8, 2008 8:46 AM CDT reply actions

I would say....

that he is reasonable that it will take time to install the offense and the type talent it takes to run the offense. And come on enough with the “high school offense” remarks as that “high school offense” put up better numbers at Troy against the same teams AU played that surpassed AU’s numbers. You need to educate yourself better before you post, I am not talking about SOCON teams I am talking about SEC teams.
