Very Quiet on the Trustee Front
Per an article written by Evan Woodberry in the Press Register, not one Trustee is willing to take stance with Paul Spina. If you remember Spina gave public support to Tuberville last week. Basically saying that he judged on a "…body of work over the past 10 years."
Woodberry called every single Board of Trustee (BOT), and did not get any to give a vote of confidence.
Byron Franklin said, "Right now we just want to support our football team and support their efforts." He followed that up with, "We just want to see them push through these last three games and get a win."
Earlon McWhorter comments were,
"We put a policy in place that clearly states that the president is in charge of athletics," McWhorter said. "It's my intention to support whatever the president and the athletic director bring to us. As much as you read in the papers about trustees being involved in this, that isn't the case."
With Franklin and McWhorter making statements like that, something smells fishy… or maybe it is jet fuel. Those two were on the plane, if you remember.
The most telling statement made was this… "…we have the 6 Million, we just don’t want to spend the 6 Million."
What in the world was that? Who makes a statement like that?
Our most prominent trustee Bobby Lowder, had the predictable, "No Comment" through an assistant. What a wuss. I just wish he could disappear from the Board. He has done great things for
The rest of the BOT’s were not available for comment.
On a personal note, does anyone else think that sometimes the best thing that can happen is for someone in power to speak up and show their cards? Why all the secrecy? If plans were not falling into place to fire Tuberville, don’t you think someone would at least say something positive? I am a Tuberville supporter and you can tell that by my articles and comments, but things are getting ridiculous. Why would he want to deal with this crap every damn season? I know that I would not be able to deal with it. But I guess that is why he is making the big bucks and I am just one pay grade above poverty.
Another thing, why do some fans think that with the firing of Bowden, Willingham, and now Fulmer somehow has some bearing on what

Coach Tuberville
I agree completely with your support of Coach Tuberville. This type of sophomoric behavior on the part of the AU board and administration is absolutely ridiculous. I think Coach Tuberville is a tremendous asset to the University. His contributions both on and off the field are too many to list in this post.
The board and Dr. Richardson need to publicly state their support for Coach Tuberville. We need to step back and put this whole thing in perspective. My gosh this country just elected a man that we know virtually nothing about.
Coach Tuberville has the ability to bring the AU football program back to the top of the SEC and college football. This has been a rough season, no doubt. Now it’s time for all the fans and “fans” to get in line behind CTT and tell the board and Dr. Richardson in particular to step up and publicly support CTT. The student athletes and the program both need Coach Tuberville’s complete attention and focus. This ongoing nonsense serves no one.

I think you mean Gogue........not Richardson....but I agree whole heartedly.
McWhorter is Lowders boy so is Franklin, but what McWhorter said is correct….any comment on Tuberville staying or going should come from the Presidents office not the BOT as that is one of the things that SACS put AU on probation for in the not so distant past. Jay Jacobs won’t go to the bathroom without Lowder telling him he can our only hope is Gogue.
Two Points here...ok maybe more
The first point is that because of the previous fiasco the BOT is supposed to keep out of the Athletic department…the sanctions were about them not keeping out….so Woodberry – who knows this – is just stirring up trouble….typical…kind of like a Finescum comment.
The second is that the President and AD should be commenting…but I believe that J. Jacobs is worse than Housel was…and that is a tragedy for us.
Hopefully the folks like me and others on this site who believe Tuberville should stay have to let Jacobs and Gogue know our opinion. We have to remind him that we give money both to the TUF and to the University as well.
We can only hope that the media does not promote the ousting of Tubs by playing all of the negative information.
WDE!!
Mike Leach...
…..is not a quick-fix coach, not like today’s short-attention-span crowd wants. He’s been at Texas Tech for something like 7 years, right? For a goodly chunk of that time, they were known as the team with no defense, who’d put 70 points on UTEP and Rice. When Oklahoma or Nebraska came calling, that high flying offense would crash. It took Leach a WHILE to build up to where he is now, at Tech.
…..We certainly remember Joe Kines putting a schooling on the Leach offense in the 2006 Cotton Bowl. As I recall, they managed a measly 10 points against Bama.
……We certainly DON’T need to be looking, not with the administration we have. We could be looking at a Dubose/Orgeron-type hire, after spending those millions to get rid of Tuberville!
One bad season in nine. One.
People talking about getting rid of Tuberville after one bad season make me sick.
You know who you are. You not worthy enough to wear the orange and blue. You act like you should be wearing crimson and white. This is only Tuberville’s second losing season. Only the school’s 4th in 15 years. He’s continued to keep our program clean. We’ve been scandal and probation free under Tuberville’s leadership (JetGate wasn’t his doing and is not the topic here). We need to be careful or we’ll become a school that has 6 coaches in 5 years like another in our state. Tuberville has earned an 11th season. Give it to him before you decide you want to get rid of him.
Who do you propose that will do better?
Find me an active coach with a better resume other than maybe Pete Carroll or Mack Brown that we could get.
10 seasons at one BCS school
8 winning seasons at that one BCS school
7 seasons with 8+ wins
70% winning percentage at a BCS school
2 senior classes that had the most wins in school history
2 stretches of “50 wins in 5 years”
3rd longest winning streak in school history
2nd longest streak in school history without being shut out
1 undefeated season at a BCS school
1 undefeated season that in most years would have been a national championship
1 league championship
5 division championships
8 consecutive bowl appearances
6 wins in a row against the largest rival
Has continued to prevent the largest rival to win in their home stadium for the 1st time ever
1 of the cleanest/most disciplined programs
1 of the highest graduation rates in the FBS
Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it…

You Surprise Me With Your Tone
Our most prominent trustee Bobby Lowder, had the predictable, “No Comment” through an assistant. What a wuss. I just wish he could disappear from the Board. He has done great things for Auburn but it is time he sat down a shut the hell up. bq.
In this particular instance he has “sat down and shut the hell up” and it apparently it still pisses you off. You might want to consider some counseling and look into the tone of your writing. You are making it clear that if we don’t agree with your view then we should all “shut the hell up”. Sorry bud …. it doesn’t work that way.
May I suggest that it is entirely possible to make your point, defend your point, and even debate with people who have differing views – with a level of respect.
Give it a shot.
Just like a CEO does?
Sorry. I was kinda disappointed that you didn’t work that angle once again…

Sorry for the late reply
You might be right, I guess I did not make myself clear. In this instance Lowder is “shuting the hell up.” But anyone who is a true Auburn fan, or has followed this team and coaches since Tommy has been here, knows that Lowder hates Tuberville. He has done everything possible to undermine him. I am sure that behind closed doors or in private he is pulling every string possible to get him out. Eventually Lowder might get his way, but I think that would be a mistake.
And since I am able to write and article here, I can voice my opinion. You are welcome to voice yours, which is why we have a comment section.
Thanks for reading.
If you are a War Damn Eagle, you can War Damn anything.
I hate to say it, but...
does it look like Tommy is not well? Is it just the season and the stress or is there more to it?
I’ve heard rumblings since the summer that there are “behind the scenes” issues on this team (conflict and dissension) caused and/or contributed to by the conflict on the coaching staff (which I don’t think is resolved just because Franklin is gone). Has Tommy lost this team? If so, can he get i back? If not, is he done?
On the contrary
I’m genuinely concerned about the program and the players. As far as I’m concerned, Auburn’s players are Alabama boys, too! I grew up close by, knew Tommy Agee and Quentin Riggins personally when I was a kid, and would hate to see Auburn go through the same thing Alabama went through with Dubose!
I’m just stating what I’m hearing. If you know different, share!
