Skyhawk Shutdown.

Auburn vs. U. T. Martin is not even televised.
Auburn vs. U. T. Martin Live Thread
War Eagle, everybody! Today, the Auburn Tigers host the U. T. Martin Skyhawks on Homecoming, and the only live TV available will be on the Jumbotron at Jordan Hare Stadium. Oh, how the mighty have fallen! For those who wish to see the game, and don't have a ticket, the game will be broadcast on CSS, Sunday afternoon at 5:00 PM Central time. I'll have to postpone my usual grades, till Sunday night.
In the meantime, it will be an afternoon with the voices of Rod and Stan, for most of us, just like old times. When I was growing up, we were lucky if Auburn was on TV once or twice a year! We'll listen to our Tigers, and cheer them on, as usual! Feel free to chime in with opinions, cheers, angst, or whatever thoughts you have on the game, right here on the live thread!

On the internet,
…..I’m getting this, and they’re playing the Auburn broadcast:
http://www.680thefan.com
It's a heck of a delay,
…..But evidently you’ll be able to listen without paying for Auburn All-Access, at the Auburn website.
None at all.
…..I just dialed it up because someone asked. I’m on a radio and ear buds, on 94.5 FM in Birmingham.
Unbelievable.
Robert Dunn loses the punt, still trying to field it in the end zone, and we give up a TD on the fumble.
Just when you thought...
Dunn knew to get away from punts inside the ten. Wow. Serious brain-fart, there.
Durst and the
1st quarter shanks, again. I never would have thought we’d have punting issues, this year, with the three we had coming in. Durst, Shoemaker, Tatum, I thought we were set.
It sounds...
…..like we’ve FINALLY got enough healthy corners to play a nickel defense, with Powers taking the slot guy.
Georgia's
Prince Miller just made an awful punt return blunder similar to Dunn’s. Miller got his back, though.
I was thinking raging mad
I’d love to see them win a close, close game today, come out of it a little beat up (no injuries, just worn out players)

All right Wes!
We need him to return to ’07 form for next year

I'd rather he suck in the next two games and get it together next year than vice versa
We likely won’t win the next two even if he hits all his kicks

Georgia REALLY has trouble...
…..with the counter out of the shotgun. UK busts another big TD run on ’em!
Man.
…..We give up 16 on a screen, on third and long. It’s either that sort of thing, or letting slow QBs like Casey Dick and Jevan Snead run for tons up the middle on those downs. Where do our linebackers go, on 3rd and long?
If it's any consolation to any of you
Tennessee is even worse than we are. If any of you thought they’d finish strong, and win for the gipper (I did), they are losing 13-7 to Wyoming near the end of the 3rd quarter. Ther offense makes ours look like the 1998 St. Louis Rams

…..gets another! Auburn goes up 13-7, with about 2 minutes left in the first quarter. War Eagle.
Georgia and Kentucky...
….are playing a barn-burner. UGA goes ahead, KY runs the kickoff back to the UGA 4!

Auburn ...
…..is letting these guys hang around WAY too long! It’s time to take this fumble, and drive down authoritatively!
They'll never expect it?
Even if it’s something we do 90% of the time?

It worked pretty awesome on the FB wheel against WVU
I can’t imagine he’s great at picking up the linebacker to spring a big run though

Kentucky...
…..could about salt the game away with a touchdown, and they’re in UGA territory with about 7 minutes left.
Vols down 13-7 with 4 minutes left and 80 yards staring them in the face

Kentucky had UGA down...
….with the ball in UGA territory, and bogged down on bad execution. Then Stafford fires a bullet on the crossing route, and UGA picks up about 60, and is first and goal with 3 minutes left. Can you say, Kentucky choke?
Uhhh
Not exactly…TD Dawgs

Wild end...
….to Bama’s first drive. Wild scramble by JP Wilson, a jump pass to Julio Jones, he reached the ball out toward the goal line, and it was slapped out, for an apparent touchback. Did he score? NO!
Game over in Knoxville
Wyoming 13
Tennessee 7
They will probably finish up 3-9 this year, worst Tennessee team probably in my lifetime

Georgia looks very...
….beatable. Of course, we look more so. We don’t have the secondary guys to stay with their receivers, or the linebackers to tackle Stafford and Moreno.
Their defense is pretty shaky though
If we had any semblance of an offense, I’d say maybe we could outscore them

They had a couple of really good drives,
…..but only one offensive TD. The other was on Dunn’s fumbled punt in the endzone.
I think they were down to Kentucky or Ole Miss 3-0 early
But that’s it I believe

Telling quote...
…..by Andy Bitter at War Eagle Extra:
“There were a couple plays where Auburn players tried to reverse field about six times on the same play and lost 10-plus yards. Listen, I know you’re playing an FCS team, but you’re not Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl. It’s simply not a smart thing to do.”
And of course...
….there’s this one, too.
“The Skyhawks missed the extra point, so it’s only a touchdown lead. (This is where somebody always has to mention that the extra point miss COULD be costly. Well, duh. It’s one less point on the board. I hate it when people make a big deal about pointing that out.)”
Won't know till I watch it,
…..but it sounded like poor decisions by Burns and Fannin were the worst problems. Everyone loads the box against us, and Martin actually has pretty good defensive tackles. It will be interesting to watch the replay, tomorrow.
3 and out would be sweet to start the 2nd half

Kodi houdinis out...
….a 31-yard scramble! Auburn will set up shop in the red zone, trying to open a double digit lead!
Burns HAS...
….definitely been under fire in the SEC, and will get more good experience in the next three weeks.
I have a hard time getting excited about getting a 2 touchdown lead in the 3rd....
against a team we should have put away in the 1st quarter.
How about a 1 TD lead to open the 4th?

It would be interesting to watch, I think.
….Frankly, I think UT’s defense is better than ours, though. We’ve probably sunk farther.
I dunno
ULM, USM, Miss St., LSU, Tennessee, Vanderbilt….none of those teams have exactly great offenses

You have to consider our SEC rank in defense is a little low because we don’t get to play Auburn’s offense

War Damn Eagle!
by PowerOfDixieland on Nov 8, 2008 4:14 PM CST reply actions
With Savage out in fall camp,
…..Jerraud Powers hurt, a bunch of true freshmen backups, and cautious safeties…
NO.
Coleman...
…..isn’t dressed out for this one, according to Bitter and Marshall. Antoine Carter IS a terror, when he’s healthy.
UTM is wearing down, as is OUR...
…..defense. We NEED to keep moving it, no big mistakes. A touchdown here would end it.
And we've got Jason Bosley...
….hurt. Starting 5th year senior, out there toiling in the 4th quarter in a tight game with UT Martin. Wow. A year gone off the rails…
They sez...
Burns has 100 yards rushing? I THINK that’s the most rushing yards in a game by the QB since Phil Gargis…
lol
who would have thought we would be sweting a game vs UT Martin this late in the year. Does a win vs a 1AA team count towards a bowl I heard it did not
Craig Stevens still out there...
…..I think I’d have ALL starters out, at this point. It would be a shame to get anyone hurt, at this juncture.
I called it right,
on quarterback rushing. Phil Gargis had 160 yards against Georgia, back in the 1970s. Burns can eclipse it, with one more positive run…
Shows how much I know,
Caudle is in, Eric Smith is fumbling, and UTM is in business at the Auburn 6.
smith seems to have the fumble bug
Thorpe will be a force. I have a feeling we will upset Bama in T town.
Nice to see...
…..Auburn still running the offense (such that it is…) and letting the backup get real experience.
Well,
….Tuberville intervenes, and we’ll run this clock out. Auburn wins over Tennessee Martin, 37-20.
A win is a win,
…..and Auburn is one win away from bowl-eligibility, with Amen Corner awaiting. War Eagle, and thanks to everyone who participated today! I had fun, even with our struggles.
…..I’ll watch the replay tomorrow, and issue my normal grades.
Sorry I had to miss the comeback!
War Eagle everyone! And thanks to Acid for hosting!
