Is Steve Spurrier The Man?
Reports out of Montgomery (WSFA Television) tonight indicate that Auburn is close to offering its head coaching job to South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier. As of now, this is the only place we are getting this information. In fact, reports on al.com are disputing this story. We'll keep you updated..
Note: In the last few minutes, WSFA has edited its story to say that Auburn may offer the job to Spurrier. It looks like they jumped the gun.

Why not???? BIG NAME !! Immediate Respect and FEAR...
He may not have been so hot lately…but that does not mean he is done for…just that he has not had much to work with…plus, maybe he is just bored and wants to get back to seriously competing again…why do you have to pooopooo everything people? This could be a good thing!!!

how bout the fact that he doesn’t care about recruiting, can’t seem to coach offense anymore, and is more interested in playing golf than he is in his football team. quit living in the 90s. Spurrier is over, just like grunge and matt perry’s acting career.

Why would Muschamp want to come to
,,,,an Auburn radio station?
by James4au on Dec 12, 2008 8:06 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Because...
…a radio station is the ‘in-waiting’ for a television station.
Don’t you feel silly now, James?

Nice
I don’t know if this is true. I think I read somewhere that Mushamp has already denied it. However, it could be one of those “Saban” denials. If true though, this is probably one of the best pickups yall could have had. He’s got a big name and is a great coach.

Sorry, Spurrier's not coming to Auburn
In response to the talk of Spurrier leaving South Carolina for Auburn, here’s the truth:
A report late Thursday night from a Montgomery, Ala., TV station said Auburn was about to offer Spurrier the job. A few hours earlier, Spurrier said he had not heard from anybody at Auburn and was at USC to stay.
On Thursday, during a contract-signing banquet for the Gamecocks’ impending Outback Bowl matchup against Iowa on Jan. 1, Spurrier again reiterated that USC is his last stop.
What asked about the rumor that Auburn is poised to hire him as head football coach, the head ball coach had this to say:
“The Auburn one? Is that the one you’re talking about? Yeah, that one jumped out of nowhere. It’s interesting how anybody can almost start a rumor, I guess.”
“There’s nothing to that,” Spurrier said. "It’s amazing how some of that stuff gets started.
“It’s really complimentary, I guess, that they still think I’m good enough to coach at those places, or whatever. It is a compliment, but I’ve said many times that this is my last coaching job, at South Carolina,” Spurrier said. “We’re going to try and see if we can’t do something real good.”
“We’ve got a real good recruiting class coming in right now,” Spurrier said, “I know where my future in coaching is, and that’s South Carolina, and that’s it.”

Agree with you, Tiger,,,,
,,,,,I don’t want him either. I didn’t like him when he was at Florida and I still don’t like him.
