Good to see a friendly crowd for him.
Seriously, best of luck to you all. I’d much rather see him have a successful tenure with you. I wouldn’t mind a bit if Tennessee had to play Auburn twice next year (no matter how unlikely it may seem).

I kind of wonder where
they found 200 people to cheer and sound happy. The bulk of the comments that I have seen have been negative. I am still trying to wrap my head around this whole train wreck.
Some of the players that met with him this evening sound inspired. So that is nice.

Family members
of the Jays and the BOT. At least that’s what I think.

If I were in Auburn and had free time this afternoon
I would have gone over and cheered him just as well.
We can be mad as hell that our administration is so stupid. We can be mad as hell that our university is run by a Marxist-type regime. We can be mad as hell that we are the Oakland Raiders of college football. However, everything up until Gene Chizik being hired as our new head coach doesn’t matter right now. We need to embrace him as our head coach and support both him and the players. As Auburn men and women, it is our duty.
So while I still think it was dumb of us to hire him, he’s our coach now, and I am 100% behind him. We can be 100% behind our coach and 100% against our AD and BoT. That’s what I’m doing.
So, War Damn Eagle, Coach Chizik. Here’s to you proving all the naysayers (self included) wrong, and bringing titles to the Plains!

What a joke
People tell me I’m not being supportive of Auburn by not supporting this coach, but the whole reason I don’t support him being here is because I am such a big Auburn fan, and care so much about Auburn football and its well-being. I can’t be naive and hold out hope that he will surprise us all and be a great coach, simply because it’s not going to happen. Hopefully in 2 or 3 years we will hire a good coach, but for now we will just have to watch everything fall apart. War Eagle. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.
What do an Auburn fan and a bammer have in common? (Neither of them ever attended u.a.t.).

My problem
Is that I’m a realist. His head coaching stats speak for themselves. I’ll get excited about the guy when he shows me something to get excited about. I’m depressed and angry now, not because I’m not a loyal fan, but because I expect more out of this university. I’m not a bad fan or a bandwagon fan because I don’t like the hire, I’m just a realist.

Listen
You have to support him as Auburn’s coach. His past record is trivial at this point. He’s our coach for the forseeable future, whether you like it or not. It’s pointless to focus the anger on him. If you don’t like the fact he was hired, give the Trustees, AD, or President a call or letter. You are definitely allowed to be angry at them. But it’s not his fault our administration was stupid enough to hire him. What was he going to say? “You know, guys, I’m flattered, but I just don’t deserve it. I’m 5-19 as a head coach, and that’s just not good enough. I’m turning you down because I don’t deserve it.” Hell no! Nobody in their right mind would say that.
So put on your big girl panties and get over it. He’s OUR coach. He’s coaching OUR football team. He’s representing OUR beloved university. Until he starts losing too many games, we should be fully behind him, even if we are fully against our administration.
War Damn Eagle!

Look
I’m glad you’re so quickly over this, but I’m not. Quit telling me how to feel (aka, to put my “big girl” panties on). Good grief. I’m not rolling out the welcome wagon (kinda hard way out here on the other side of the country!) but I’m not planning a protest march on the campus either (again, a little difficult WAY OUT here). I have the right to my opinion, just as you do yours. I don’t agree with you 100% of the time, but I’ve never advised you to “put on your big boy undies” and grow up. Quit belittling people that disagree with you.

Well
For one thing, I wasn’t responding to you, but responding to AUshorecm. Second of all, I’m not over it. I’m still angry at our administration for hiring someone with those qualifications. I’m not saying you don’t have the right to your opinion, but what good will it do to direct your anger to Coach Chizik? That certainly won’t help us win any games in the next few years. And I firmly believe, if you subscribe to the Auburn Creed and the Auburn spirit as I do, then you’ll feel the same way. He’s our coach now. No amount of wishing it away is going to change anything. It’s best to just clench your teeth and support him and our players.

Yes POD
I’m sure your support of Auburn on Track ‘em Tigers has been good for at least 4 of the 7 wins in the streak against Alabama. Glad to see you’re doing so much for your cause. It’s extremely inspiring.
I don't want to seem like a traitor but. . . I freakin love corndogs.

Warrrr Eagle ! ! ! ! Lets come together !!
I was very supportive of Coach TUBs… I loved him, thought he was one great coach. But what is done is done and we can only move forward. If you think you are going to fail you probably will… So lets think we are now moving forward towards greatness… Carry on what Coach Tubs started. Now although I think Auburn BrassNUTS, the JAYS,… have completely upset the Auburn Family and SHOULD RESIGN immediately… I will now take my support to Coach Chizik and the Auburn PLAYERS … lets not forget about them. They, the players, deserve our support. Lets as an AUBURN FAMILY now BIND together and support its team and coach. Hopefully coach Chiz can now get some GREAT Assistant coaches to SUPPORT him. Defense will surely be his interest so… lets get some great coordinators in and a staff that will become members OUR AUBURN FAMILY. We definetly need a GREAT offensive Staff to use the guys we have and to get some of the great recruits looking for an opportunity to make a difference. The defense is going to be good again already… and with Chiz a defensive mind , I dont think we will suffer on defense.
So, hey guys, wadda u say ??? Can we now move on and say … WARRRRR EAGLE again and then support the new coach at Auburn… COACH GENE CHIZIK…. Chiz for short.
God Bless… and WARRRRRR E A G L E ! ! ! !

Sounds alot like Ol' Gil
“Whoooo! (coughs) How many can I put ya’ down for, a lot? Please say a lot!, I need this.”
“Aw, thank God! Now, let’s talk rust-proofing. These Colecos’ll rust up on ya’ like that, er … shut up, Gil. Close the deal … close the deal!”
JJ has hired a used car salesman as our new head coach, this should be interesting.

anyone else notice?
His mannerisms and pattern of speech are exactly like those of George W. Bush.

Interesting observation...
Now that you mention it and after re-watching the video,…there seems to be some similarities. I hope that also doesn’t indicate an omen that he’ll end his career at Auburn catching a lot of hell,…much like Bush has been catching toward the end of his tenure…..

In addition, three YouTube videos of Auburn player interviews on the Chizik hiring...
A lot of this was already in printed media,…but there is a little more and its good to see the players facial expressions (body language), too, to try and gauge what they think of the hire.

OK.....regardless of what we think of the hire...
and I don’t think that there are more than 3 people that think its a good hire. Anger and nonsupport for Chizik is pointless and useless he is our coach…..no turning back. The anger here should be towards Jacobs, Gogue, and the BOT. We should not relent on the pressure on AU to shed these clowns like the vermin they are. I am proud to be an AUBURN TIGER and always will be lets clean our University of the cancer thats eating it……don’t stop writing letters showing your disgust of Lowder and his cronies. If you are an AUBURN TIGER you will not use anything that benefits Colonial Bank or Osmose wood products. Get rid of the Dictatorship.
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU

Until I see what this guy can do with this team, I will support him. A lot of people just see a 5-19 record at ISU but not many people see behind the doors there. If you look at Colorado this year you’d think 5-7 was a terrible year and Dan Hawkins who’s now 12-27 since taking over has been a disaster. Yet we started 11 freshmen, lost 3 starters on the oline and played the 3erd toughest schedule in the nation. People around here believe Colorado is heading back to national promise. ISU was going through similar issues and many believed they were a couple of years from competing for the big12 north tittle. So I’m hoping given the right situation he well prove to be the right man.
