A heads up for anyone in the Montgomery area that has Charter and wants to see the Bowl games
WCOV FOX20 coming off Charter Cable in Montgomery
Press Release
Montgomery, Alabama
December 22, 2008
WCOV-FOX20 announced today that as of January 1, 2009, Charter Cable will no longer be carrying WCOV-FOX20 in Montgomery and the surrounding area. “We’ve spent several weeks negotiating in good faith with Charter but have been unable to reach an agreement. We have reached agreements with most of the cable operators in the area, including Knology, Troy Cable, Brighthouse, Comlink, Sky Cable, Galaxy Cable and others.” said David Woods, President of WCOV FOX20.
Woods said “We find it unsettling that Charter Cable recently announced a rate increase in Montgomery of several dollars per month, yet they have been unable to reach an agreement with WCOV-FOX20. Without WCOV-FOX20, Charter customers in Montgomery will no longer be able to watch the popular programs such as The FOX20 News at Nine, American Idol, 24, House, Judge Mathis, People‘s Court, The Sunday NFL games, the NFC Championship game, NASCAR and The Daytona 500, and the Sugar Bowl with the Alabama Crimson Tide on January 2nd.”
Charter customers have several options in which to tune in to WCOV-FOX20 and watch American Idol and the Sugar Bowl. In Montgomery WCOV-FOX20 will continue to be carried on Knology Cable (356-1000), many viewers can use an over-the-air antenna or they can install DishTV satellite, which carries the local Montgomery stations. In Troy, WCOV-FOX20 will still be carried on Troy Cablevision at 566-3310.

I'll be SO glad...
…..to ditch Charter! AT&T is rolling out U-Verse in Birmingham, and I’ll be free of Charter, FREEE! If it’s anything like their (rock-solid-reliable) DSL, I’ll be very happy.
In the area I live in outside of gadsden....
we get Charter but can’t get any of the espn game plan stuff….. Charter sucks…..tried Dish network but the satelite reception is crap unless I cut down trees around my house (not gonna happen). I can’t even get the lincoln financial basketball games (which is about the only way you will get to see AU play on TV).
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
Has anyone heard about the same thing that is happening
in Birmingham but with WIAT CBS 42? Someone told me that they saw a commercial on CBS 42 about calling Charter to keep CBS 42 on Charter by calling a toll free number. I haven’t seen this commercial but would be interested to see if any of you have. If it is true it would be a huge mistake by Charter seeing as how SEC Football is on CBS. So anyone else seen this commercial or heard about this?
