Georgia Tech first-year head coach Paul Johnson will sit down with Athletic Director Dan Radakovich to discuss his contract early next week, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Johnson, one of the names floated as a possible candidate at Auburn, said earlier rumors are the norm this time of year and he plans to remain at Tech for a while. He will speak to the media Sunday night after the Yellow Jackets' bowl bid is announced.

I don't get the

Paul Johnson talk. The answer to his offense is the old 5 -2…. It will work for a while but long term how much success can we expect? I don’t see that offense helping recruiting either. Am I missing something?

Hating Lowder since 1996.

Another way to see it...

The defenses (most of them) today are recruiting athletes that are undersized and fast as hell. Most of the defensive coaching is now focused stopping west coast and spread offenses. It’s reasonable (though no gaurantee) that the triple option offense will be very difficult for these undersized defenses to stop. Also, it’s not just because the defenses are undersized that I think that the triple option would be a good offense, but also because most defenses today rarely see a triple option offense.

Sort of the exact opposite situation from just a decade ago, when the defenses were unfamiliar with the spread offense, and did not have the athletes to match up. Now the players are very familiar with the spread offense, and have recruited players with the intentions of matching up with it. A well coached triple option offense could have their way with many of those defenses. Hell, floridas defense had a hard time with Mississippi’s basic smash mouth football.

In regards to recruiting, I think it would be a good thing for auburn considering that our main recruiting states are Alabama and Georgia. The high school program in those two states are mainly smash mouth football program, with an exception of a few schools.

That being said, I would prefer that we get muschamp as hc, and my second choice is Johnson.

Just Wondering...

WHY In God’s Name did we not hire Radakovich when we had the chance. Watching their program grow and flourish, and watching Jacobs run ours into the ground makes no sense.

Because Lowders hand fits......

up Jacobs ass so well he doesn’t have to lube it to pull the strings.

I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
