Tuberville Takes Questions At The White House

By Jay Coulter

Here's some video of Tommy Tuberville's trip to the White House on Monday along with footage taken while visiting the troops in the Middle East last week. There's something very cool about seeing Auburn's football coach taking press questions with the White House in the background. I just can't see Slick Nick Saban in that setting. Maybe that's why he wasn't asked.

Footage courtesy of WKRG in Mobile, Alabama...

At first...

I didn’t really think much about this trip when they were first planning it out, but I must say that now that it’s done, I’m quite impressed with what these guys did. I didn’t really think that the White House would get involved the way that they did, but I’m glad that these guys were able to help get the message out in their own small way.

I like what these guys did for college football and I’m proud that Tubs represented our school well and that he and Richt represented the conference, too. The only thing that could possibly top it off would be for us to ink home and homes with Tubs’ new BFFs Charley and Randy…

Hadn't thought of that....

Maybe this will lead to something with Notre Dame and Miami.

I think this is an annual thing to get some college coaches out there. I know Miles went to Iraq in the summer before the 2006 season. It’s a pretty cool thing.

Tub's trip to Iraq

This is certainly an improvement over his hunting trip to Arkansas during recruiting season…

ESPN article

I don’t know how many of you read the ESPN diary about hte trip, but it was pretty good. Highlight is when Weis volunteers to be ref for the flag football game. He brags how he’s going to screw the SEC. Tub’s response, “It wouldn’t be the first time” PRICELESS

Ever think

maybe CNS was asked but chose to stay back and consentrate on his team and the continuation of owning the recruiting in the state of alabama and across the southeast. But it was a noble thing, him going over to visit.

Big Picture

Let’s keep the focus of the trip where it should be, instead of using this as a stupid reason to put Alabama down. There’s a lot more going on in the world outside of Auburn and what Tommy Tuberville does. A lot of people have sacrificed everything they have and then some. Don’t take for granted what it is like to be in a war zone 24/7 and how much you would appreciate college coaches - any of them - to come help you take your mind off things for even a little while. Who cares who went, who was invited, who wasn’t. In the big picture, none of that really matters.

It's alittle

sweeter though when the person visiting is from your team. My last deployment we actually got visited by bama’s basketball coach even though I am not a huge basketball fan I still appreciated it but yes any visit from anyone will make the very hot and very stressful time abroad alittle better.

Who's putting Bama down?

Tommy was merely asking for his flag football team to score a touchdown, coupled with a PAT…
