This Is Alabama Football!

"Snake...Why do you drink? Why do you roll smoke?" I think we all know the answer to that - because it tastes good to ole Kenny. Do you realize that Kenny Stabler is now number one on the all-time DUI list at Alabama?  At a school that prides itself on producing drunks, this is no small achievement. After all, this is the university that produced Mike Price and the Weekend at Arety's. For those at home keeping score, Stabler has now wrung up two DUI's since 2001 and earned his third arrest overall for driving under the influence. "Our thoughts are with Kenny and his family at this time," said Steve Gowan, senior vice president for Learfield Communications (which oversees Crimson Tide Sports Marketing).

"In circumstances of this nature, our primary concern is for Kenny's well-being. We are in the early stages of the fact gathering regarding this situation and this is not the appropriate time to offer any further comment."

What about the well-being of those driving on the roads in Mobile?

All kidding aside, this is a sad story. A 62 year-old man who picks up his third DUI has obviously got issues. Let's hope the guy seeks help before someone is killed. Shame on Alabama if they keep him around this season. He needs to get some jail time and then some help. Looking at his mug shot is disgusting and sad at the same time. It's the face of someone who peaked much too early in life.

Here's a good article that appeared on ESPN.com over the weekend about Quentin Groves and Florida's Derrick Harvey. It's obvious the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to be counting heavily on the two rookie defensive ends. In my mind, Jack Del Rio is one of the best defensive minds in the NFL. Groves may have been disappointed going in the second round, but it looks like he landed in the right city.

Finally, here's a hilarious story that ran on today's EDSBS blog. ESPN is running an on-going story entitled Faces of the Program that looks at "that iconic image you think of when talking football on campus."  Orson Swindle's nominees are hilarious, especially Alabama's.

Embarrassing.

I’m bummed. Snake’s a talent, and it’s possible that he’s flushed his career. If there’s such a thing as an “objective Bammer,” Stabler’s it. He has no problem calling a bad play exactly that.

When I’m scouting the enemy, next season, I’ll probably hear Jay Barker doing the color, and we’ll all be poorer for it, Bammer and Barner alike. 3 times in the pokey, yes you’ve definitely got a problem, Kenny.
