Maybe Rhodes should take over?

What do you say we just punt when we get the ball and let the defense try and win the game.....oh wait... that is what we're doing.

Tate is down now....one less bullet in the Derringer

Really, wouldn't you be embarrassed to call yourself an offensive co-ordinator or a head coach if you were running this game plan? I mean we are playing in the SEC, correct? I am sick of playing NOT TO LOSE, if CTT doesn't want to win the game then let somebody else take the reigns. I understand playing it conservatively but WE HAVE TO GET A FIRST DOWN!!

Thank God!! We got a first down. Whats next, turning water into wine?

On what day did the Lord create Bear Bryant and couldn't he have rested on that day too?

They went for the throat.

….Franklin kinda lost his play-calling composure late, but that was a zinger to come back with. Growing pains, people, growing pains. I think we HAVE to start Burns, next week. Right? Am I right?

Starting Burns

YES YOU ARE RIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this is what we as Auburn fans have been sentenced to, this absolute charade of an offense, then yes we MUST play Kodi Burns and hope he matures as a passer quickly. We may not win another game all year but if we are going to run the spread you have to put in the right pieces. We have the pieces to run the offense, just not the ones to run it well, but Burns is the only QB that has a chance of running it the way it is supposed to be run. If we run a standard offense I want Chris Todd in there but we aren’t, so I don’t. And when is someone going to come out and say Chris Todd’s shoulder is only about 70% because the guy can’t throw the ball. Todd’s TD pass was crisp and I thought maybe he was finally healthy but almost immediately started throwing cream puffs down the field moments later.

Absolutely ridiclous.

Give it a rest. Acid did you miss the first half play by Todd? Todd’s Passes had zip on them and were accurate, he did’nt start with the floaters and off target throws until after Burns was put in. Burns in no way showed he should be the starter. Patience people. It may not come together this season and thank god its Tubervilles decision on who to play, hire, and fire.

Crowd was right "Ko-di, Ko-di"

“Todd92”, I’m not sure which game you were watching Saturday? I agree with most of what “acid”, “au04natlchamps” and others are saying about the QB / Offense frustrations. I was at the game with two lifelong Tennesse fans who love College football and SEC. One of my buddies grew up selling programs in Neyland Stadium but had never visited the plains. Me and my wife showed them around and the faithful Auburn family were polite, gracious and helped us show them why Auburn is so special. They loved Auburn and had a few interesting unbiased observations.

My buddy is also a former HS coach from Tennessee and knew a lot of their players and their HS coaches. His comment to me (confirming the obvious) was that Kodi has much more versatility and athletic and is a much bigger threat. HOWEVER he noticed that in the second half on that rare occassion when Kodi was given the chance to perform, he had mostly straight run plays, no real option or threat to pass so the TN defense always knew and keyed on him. He saw that Kodi could throw at the end of the 2nd quarter when he threw two perfect passes that were dropped by AU receivers. Did you see that? He sustained the drive that led to our missed 35 yard field goal at the half. OUR ONLY POTENTIAL SCORING DRIVE SINCE THE OPENING!
Then Kodi was called on at the end (final drive) to get a first down to secure the win. He threw for the first down (Billings) , scrambling almost in the end zone to keep AU alive and stop us from punting again. Todd would likely have been sacked. He didn’t throw an interception as Todd did (3rd Q that led to the Tennessee TD). Todd played okay (not great in the 1st half) but not a sure starter performance. He played the whole game vs. LSU and they were much more worried about Burns accourding to LesMiles. What more can we ask of Kodi? Can we give him a chance to throw and prove himself? I sure hope so.

I didn’t see good things against ULM but he has not been given NEAR the amount of snaps/opportunites since then as Todd has been given. IT IS TIME FOR A CHANGE. This offense MUST have a QB that is a threat running and throwing and Todd has proved neither. If he had a M. Stafford like arm MAYBE it would be worth the sacrifice. If CTF can’t see it, he is blind or an idiot.

Also, I don’t think it is anti-Auburn to complain. We are fans. We believe in AUBURN. We love the tigers and want to see them succeed. It is almost socialist/communist to suggest some is a bad fan if they don’t agree with your “what ever Coach says… I believe in him”. That could take us down a 6-6 season which I never want to see again.

Even though I still want to see Auburn recruit an all american QB, Kodi is the best we have right now.

AU CANNOT EXPECT TO WIN SEC GAMES WITH 7 POINTS POSTED BY THE OFFENSE EACH WEEK. 3 vs. MState: 14 vs. LSU and 7 vs. TN. Think about it… Tennessee’s offense outscored us AND gave us the chance to win by “dropping” the ball in our end zone. On a Saturday very soon our offense must click or we will not be so fortunate.

I wouldn't call those passes by Kodi "perfect"

They were catchable, for sure, at least the one to Trott was, but both were high. The one to Billings was high as well and almost looked like it got to him before he realized it was coming.

One other thing…does anyone else think that Kodi throws the ball better on the run than when standing in the pocket? The last throw he had to Montez and the incredible play to Dunn are the two examples I’m thinking of.

Catchable yes

Your right… catchable is a better choice than perfect. Although we say “he was a perfect 11 for 11 on the day” and it doesn’t matter how perfect they were. Point is that Kodi deserves more snaps and the same chance that Todd is given. If a kid can’t handle being sat out after a big mistake then he probably can’t handle the pressure in the SEC. He needs to know if he don’t perform he don’t play. This ain’t “daddy ball”.

Replay shows both Trott and Billings should have caught the passes, easily. Trott has dropped so many over his time at AU I can’t count. Strange enough he missed the easy one Saturday and caught a tough one. Receivers need to make some big time catches. If you watched the GA Bammer game, I thought Stafford had a fairly good night but his receivers dropped a lot of balls too making his # bad. That kid #82 Michael Moore (not the stupid movie idiot) is freaky good.

Todd threw some ugly balls Saturday. Kudo’s to the OL. I thought they gave LONG protection on pass plays this week and the LSU game. Receivers had to adjust or wait on the ball a lot. The interception to TN reminded me of Cox where he did not survey the field but had one guy in mind and he was double covered. Stafford “might” be able to fit the ball in that crack but would have likely seen another target OR threw the ball away. That WAS a mistake on his part and hard to argue otherwise.

I think “PowerOfDixieland” has a good observation that Kodi throws better on the run, however I can’t recall more than a handful of times where he was given a pocket pass play? His final pass saved the TN game and his final drive won the Chick-fil-A bowl. He performs. I’m not a “Kodi” gone wild fan. I wish we had a recruit that has the talent of Chase Daniel, Matt Stafford or the QB’s that Florida, GA, TN have had coming threw their program. To be a National contender we need someone to step up to NC style play at QB.

BLAME HOWEVER has to go to C. T. Frank and ultimately to Tubbs if he don’t fix it soon. Their job is to find the combo that works and get the best out of our guys.

I hope we get this fixed in practice this week. Vandy can/will kick our butts if we go up there and play like we did on offense against Tennessee. It is unfair to continue to hang everything on AU defense.
