Around SBN: Champions League Preview with Jimmy Conrad

man o' man.

Alright, I have been trying to defend this debacle of an offense in my head all year and I can't do it anymore.

Star-divide

While watching the Alabama/Georgia game tonight I realized what our problem is.  We are ridiculously unorganized on offense, which is bizarre when you see how well our defense plays together.  You can say that you have to just have patience and the offense will click.  The season is almost half over, how long do you want to wait?  The difference between Alabama and Auburn is night and day right now, they are completely on the same page on offense and we are not.

I would like to say that I still don't see why Todd was sat tonight, I thought he played solid again despite horrendous playcalling.  Burns looked good when he was in but I don't see him being the leader that we need.

Todd was sat for a more dynamic player that gives us a much better chance to win. Did you see the play in the second quarter where he ducked under a would be tackler and broke a tackle to throw a pass for a 12 yard gain. Todd would have been on his back. With that said I understand what you are saying, however we needed a spark. I think Burns will prove himself in the coming weeks and I think he will get the tart next week.

One play......

we did get to see a glimpse of what he is capable of but don’t confuse that with having all the tools necessary. As far as the “Todd would have been on his back” comment….you don’t know that Todd may have already hit his receiver or checked out of the play to capitalize on the blitz……no way of knowing. Todd had the hot hand until they put Kodi in his passes were on target with more zip and the offense was moving the ball. Kodi is the future not the present give it a rest.

My opinion....

after weeks of speculation and defense of Auburn, I have come to the root of the problem. It’s not Chris Todd. He played well until he was benched for Burns. And, the way Burns looked, I’d say he is still WAAAAY off from being the Tigers signal caller. Todd is an average quarterback. In the first quarter, he was sharp and made good decisions, but I’d have to say all of his momentum and focus was lost by the way the fans reacted to Burns coming into the game. Burns is terrible. POINT BLANK. Todd has rather sound fundamentals. To be honest, I think this team may belong to Barrett Trotter come next August.

I digress…….
The fault of this offense is that it is the playcalling. I am tired of Tony Franklin blaming himself every week. He obviously doesn’t mean it because he isn’t pulling out all of the stops. The ball needs to be thrown vertically more instead of all of this latteral bullcrap. We don’t have the playmakers to do it——LIE! Dunn and Fannin and LESTER COULD RUN THESE PLAYS. but all I see is a bunch of handoffs to a slower, more physical running back that CANNOT thrive in this offense. It’s a FRIGGIN mess, and Franklin seems dissintersted in cleaning it up!
So, that’s where my blame will now lie. All on TONY FRANKLIN!

I agree

the fan response to Todd coming in had to have messed with Todd’s head. While he hasn’t been stellar he doesn’t deserve half the ridicule he gets. I don’t think Todd has cost us anything so far. No doubt his arm is nowhere near 100%, but I believe he has a much better mind to make on field decisions than Kodi does.
Let’s be honest, if kodi started these other games would it have made much difference? would the calls from the sideline been different? would Ziemba still be holding or jumping off every other damn play? would we still have fumbled the ball all those times? Is kodi gonna punt and kick field goals too? If kodi had started those games i think it would have been Todd getting the cheers from the crowd saturday.

It is a team sport folks and one player isn’t going to turn it around. Todd deserves the support of the fans as much as Kodi, I am just glad he hasn’t been given the Brandon Cox treatment yet (how awful was that to have your own QB booed at home) that would have embarrassed me much more than the stuff chazyd is embarrassed about.
