Dead Period and Other Tidbits
Well, the College Football season has been over now for a whopping five days and I am all ready bored. I guess with
Dead period is the time between the National Championship Game and National Signing Day. Signing Day is typically is the first Wednesday in February, so that would be the 4th this year. Personally, the reason I call it the “Dead Period” is because there is plenty of speculation but nothing really means anything on the recruiting trail until that February day. And you are crazy if you believe a word that a 17-18 year old tells you prior to his signature on the paper, and it faxed to the Athletic Offices. So I try and take a break from it all, until Signing Day, all the hope and all the drama just… again, it wears me out.
Another part of the Dead Period is that although College Basketball is great, nothing really gets good and heated until late February /early March. It is also hard to follow Auburn Basketball because we give up a 17-2 run to start the second half against
And lastly, the Dead Peroid is not so bad for some folks that are NFL people due to the playoffs… playoffs? Did some one say Playoffs? (in my best Jim Mora voice). My two teams are out, so forget it.
There is still some news to report though; it seems that Coach Chizik is trying to lure Tracy Rocker back home from Nutt’s staff at Ole Miss. As I posted last week, I have been waiting on this since Tuberville got fired… ummmm resigned.
On the Recruiting front, Tracy Rocker and Tyrone Nix from Ole Miss have been after Johnnie Farms out of Perry GA. I guess the Rocker to Auburn news is spreading because Farms is making a trip to
Lutzenkirchen, from Lassiter High here in Metro Atlanta has told AuburnSports.com that his is still committed to
I am sure there is plenty more to come.

This is the time of year that I hate the most.....
the only thing that makes it bearable are the warm days sprinkled in that allow me to get my golf fix or some quality time riding my bikes….although it doesnt have to be warm for the bike. College basketball just doesn’t do if for me unless its AU or late February. As far as sports on T.V. I could watch golf 24-7 but the Golf channel has about 6 hours of infommercials a day.
I hope Rocker answers and comes home to “Mama” now that she has called (hate quoting Bear Bryant but the phrase is too appropriate). He has proven to be a solid Defensive Line Coach/recruiter and would make an excellent addition to the staff. Someone needs to put up a clock counting down to the “A” day game……War Damn Eagle.

I would think....
since the LOI is a legal contract it has to be a document with a signature. And call me old fashioned but Texting is very obnoxious to me…..if I have the time to punch buttons I may as well call someone and say what I need to say. My age is showing I know……

If it’s worth saying, then call them!
And while you’re at it, you kids turn that music down, too!

I didn't throw mine away...
But I gave it up. It’s for sale on craigslist now. There’s nothing more heinous to me than getting woken up in the morning by that little chirp…
I read that a teenager in NY had 14,528 texts on her parent’s bill for one month recently. That’s 484 a DAY. But even better, you figure she sleeps 8 hours and is in school for 8 hours. Assuming she’s not allowed to do it during class, that’s basically one per minute. OMG! WTF?
Of course, there’s an even faster technology available…

Thats hilarious.....
I am still amazed that Text messaging is so popular……I can have a faster conversation and be more thorough with less ambiguities with an old fashioned phone conversation. The only advantage of Texting that I can see is the ability to do it silently………
