Alright. I am now confused.
What is going on with our recruiting efforts these days and what is going on with the recruits on our radars?
So Rivals comes out and says that Reuben Randle is coming to town the weekend of January 10 and then that he had to reschedule due to his father not being able to get off work that weekend. Come Monday morning Randle's father starts denying that his son ever was supposed to take a trip to Auburn. How did the original information get out and by who and what happened that weekend?
The reason that I bring this one up and now another one has done the same thing in Benton, a receiver from Lousiana. Another recruit that was supposed to visit and decided to sit it out in Atchinson, a linebacker that is committed to Alabama.
I really must not be clued in to the mind of stupid teenagers anymore, I guess that is due to if I make a commitment, I stick to it. I don't understand all the backing out and the shadiness of not rescheduling and the way it is being done. Can anyone enlighten me on this thing?

I was not aware that Benton has failed to show up....
he was said to be coming as little as a couple of hours ago. What have you heard and where have you heard that he is not coming? As far as Atchison is concerned its not really a surprise…..Randle was coming according to his High School Coach, past that I’m not sure what went wrong (the kid either changed his mind or his dad nixed the trip or the High School Coach spoke out of turn…who knows),
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
Just read it on AuburnUndercover.....
sounds like someone is getting to these recruits…..LSU recruiters most likely. Benton may not be a big loss as he has had a tremendous time getting his academics up to par to be eligable. It is pretty strange though. We will be fine with this seasons recruiting class even if we don’t land any of the big names being thrown around….. also with the effort put forth by this staff and assuming they will put forth the same effort next year I am confident that next seasons class will be a very good class. Regardless the coaches are doing a whale of a job and I am still hopeful that Cotton will end up at AU as well.

Matt here is your answer...
You pretty much nailed these are just kids not even out high school yet and these schools expect them to make a big decision like where to spend the next few years. Most of em are just dumb and cant make up their minds but they are still free to mingle and make visits even with a verbal. Verbals are not anything solid but i agree with you that they should keep their word.
that would be
30th..
When you are an Alabama fan you are expected to hate Auburn, I hate Tennessee because I want to.
Sorry Todd
I love your hope Todd, but recruiting is not going very well at all. The fact is it stinks. Another blog from someone else celebrated us getting Alabama’s Mister Football, but the truth is hardly anyone wanted him. I know you feel that messages like this will hurt recruiting, but I think recruits would rather us be honest than snow them.

You are correct in saying that.....
Moseley was not highly recruited. But he has been called a major sleeper by both Rivals and Scouts…..and the only thing the kid ever did was win. You don’t have to get excited about his commitment but you shouldn’t be overly concerned that he wasn’t heavily recruited. As far as the way the recruiting is going you couldn’t be more wrong….and if you follow it at all you will see this is true. We had a great group visiting this weekend and all came away thoroughly impressed. We are currently ranked in the top 25 in both recruiting reports and I expect us to finish strong enough to get into the top 15. Malzahn is making a trip to Louisiana today to talk to Reuban Randle and is expected to do the same with Bryce Brown. Kendall Kelley is scheduled for an official visit Jan. 30th and is a top WR target as well. and yes, I would think that recruits would rather see honesty out of us……but being a pessimest does not make you more honest.

You think we'll get any of them?
How many of the studs do you think we’ll get man? I’m excited, we’re going to have loads of talent return anyway, and next year if we have all of the coaches again, we’re going to have one of the top recruiting classes in the country. Furthermore, do we have anymore coaches to get, or is his staff totally assembled now?
I would say our chances are good.....
Reuban Randle may be Bama bound after this weekend……if he is then you can almost pencil Kendle Kelley in at AU. Bryce Brown I would say is a long shot but one thing that helps is AU’s history as Running Back U and a place that a kid can garner Heisman support. I’m optimistic that we will get one or two big recruits that no one thinks we can pull and I am overly optimistic that we will get Nosa Eguae as well as Dequinta Jones who both visited this weekend. 3 star WR Cobi Hamilton is scheduled for a visit and 4 star Emory Blake is saying great things about his visit this weekend. We stand a great chance of landing both Tana Patrick and Petey Smith (outstanding LB’s) and we are getting a serious look from Blue Chip OL prospect Johnnie Farms. One bad note is the decommitment of Juco 4 star WR Cameron Kinney……but he has been waivoring since the coaching change and I’m not sure how much more energy the Coaching Staff will put towards getting him back as he seems determined to go to UGA to be near his family (although he picked up an offer from OU over the weekend and seems at least tempted by it). The big picture is this….after the decommitments pulled a top 10 class towards mediocrity this coaching staff has done a fantastic job of not only stopping the bleeding but of adding legitimacy to their search by pulling in recruits for possible commits that had otherwise never considered AU or had at the least all but written AU off. And the Recruits that they have committed are all very solid and fill definite needs…..and that is what recruiting is really about….filling needs. Keep watch over the next couple of weeks and take note on not only what happens at AU for commits but also the possibility that Chaz Ramsey will be cleared to play and will return to play for AU (that would be HUGE).
One more coaching vacancy to fill…..defensive backs coach.
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
FYI, you lost Petey Smith today..
to Bama..

I am very impressed with Clint Moseley's record...
He was off the radar, but his stats, attitude, intelligence and just plain winning ways impress me no end. His is a good height and will be a great asset to our team.
I am also very impressed with the attitude of the new coaching staff regarding recruiting. It would have been the easy thing to try to fill in where they could this year and look toward next year for recruiting the best. Instead, they set their sights high. They won’t get all the recruits they go after this year, but it puts us on the maps in their high schools and overall for highly rated recruits.
I look forward to a much improved team this season and even better in the years to come.
I
actually think Moseley will be a good QB. I think alot of teams will be sorry they didn’t offer him.
