Back To Things We Can Control.....Somewhat.

As reported by Jay Tate we have a good bunch of recruits visiting this weekend.

You can view everything he wrote at   http://jaygtate.blogspot.com/

Auburn has several high-profile prospects headed for the Plains this weekend. Let's take a gander at the list. I'm putting them in order of how much they intrigue me:

  • QB Tyrik Rollison (Sulphur Springs, Texas)
  • DT Jamar Travis (E. Brewton)
  • LB DeDe Lattimore (Athens, Ga.)
  • LB Greg King (Memphis, Tenn.)
  • DL Myles Wade (Eugene, Ore., by way of Arizona junior college)
  • WR Travante Stallworth (Leesville, La.) **AUBURN COMMIT**
  • LB Deontae Skinner (Macon, Miss.)
  • DB Izauea Lanier (Gordo) **AUBURN COMMIT**
  • LB Joel Kight (suburban Atlanta)
  • OL Hunter Stout (Tampa, Fla.)
  • QB Robert Cooper (Daphne)

I do have to say that Rollison  intrigues me.  Auburn is in the mix to get this kid along with Kansas State as his top 2.  He has not visited Kansas State.   He is a 4 star recruit at Rivals.....his mechanics will need a lot of work.  If you watch his highlights , he carries the ball away from his body and can't keep his feet still.   Does seem to have alot of upside wit his arm and speed though.

THANK YOU,...Indytiger1,...

for putting up a post to push the previous one about Willis down and out of view. I was starting to get nauseated everytime I opened up Track Em Tigers only to see Eric Ramsey’s,…I mean,…James Willis’s picture front and center. Though I’ve never personally been in the situation,…I would imagine the feeling I was getting was kind of like having to look at your ex-spouse’s picture after they went off and married your worst enemy.

I know....

This period for college football is so boring. I’ve noticed that many comments have dropped off. Since I am on here at least 6 times per day seeing his face was killing me. I had to do something.

Anyway, I do enjoy keeping up with the recruits and believe that our new staff are busting their butts to get kids in.

I love recruiting news because its like a second season of competition...

but when you go look at the videos of these kids in action….and I mean all the “TOP” recruits you begin to see how meaningless all of this is. Every one of them has size, strength, and speed (at least compared to their competition). Other than a handful, they just don’t stand out and make you say “Wow!!!”. Rueben Randle may be great but all I saw from his clips is that he was the biggest guy on a field of players who don’t know how to tackle and don’t pursue if they aren’t initially part of the play. Thats pretty common. What makes any of these guys good is what you can you do with theirraw talent. If I was a recruit I wouldn’t care where I was going as long as I knew I was going to get coached well. Unfortunately you can’t coach smarts or desire. I will take a winner…a guy who is willing to do be coached and do what is best for the team…over somebody who has great physical ability. The trick is finding the guys who have the talent AND that burning desire.

On what day did the Lord create Bear Bryant and couldn't he have rested on that day too?
