AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn's men's and women's head swimming and diving coach, Richard Quick, has been diagnosed with an inoperable cancerous brain tumor. Auburn Athletics Director Jay Jacobs announced Quick's condition Tuesday. Jacobs said assistant coach Brett Hawke would serve as acting men's coach and co-head women's coach Dorsey Tierney-Walker will run the women's team while the 65-year-old Quick seeks treatment. "We're currently in the process of looking for the best care possible to fight this," Quick said. "I want to thank the countless individuals that have passed along their well wishes, thoughts and prayers." Quick was the head coach of the U.S. team at the 1988, 1996 and 2000 Olympics and served as an assistant at the 1984, 1992 and 2004 Games. Quick served as Auburn's head coach from 1978-82 and returned to the job in 2007. While the head coach of both the men's and women's programs at Auburn from 1978-82, Quick lead both programs to a combined four top-10 finishes in the NCAA. He has also coached at Stanford, where he picked up seven NCAA titles, and at Texas, winning five NCAA titles there. He also served as the men's head coach at Iowa State during the 1977-78 season and the women's head coach at Southern Methodist in 1976-77.

Coach Quick...War Eagle.
