Long Awaited Fortune Magazine Article On Bobby Lowder Hits Newsstands

Bobby-lowder_medium

The long awaited Fortune Magazine article on Auburn trustee Bobby Lowder hits newsstands this week and tonight the story is published on the magazine's web site.  Below is an excerpt of the story along with a link to the piece at Fortune Magazine.

(Fortune Magazine) -- Just after 9 a.m. on a humid Friday in late September, the trustees of Auburn University gather in a campus hotel conference room for their first meeting of the new school year. Even this early in the day there's a bit of electricity in the air. It is football season, it's a home-game weekend, and expectations are running high.

The Tigers have a new coach and are undefeated through their first three games. When 87,000 orange-and-blue-clad fans gather in Jordan-Hare stadium on Saturday night to watch Auburn vanquish another overmatched out-of-conference visitor, chests will be puffed up.

But first a bit of higher-ed theater must be played out. Auburn is a state-funded school, and the trustees' meetings are open to the public. More than 100 university staffers, faculty, reporters, and interested citizens have gathered this morning to watch the board tend to school business.

"...this li'l ol' harmless guy who looks like Howdy Doody."

Anyone else think that quote about Lowder sounds like Jimmy Rane?

The writer of that article is wrong. The fact that he/she is an Alabama grad didn’t affect me any, and I doubt that it would for the average Auburn reader either.

As much as I don’t like Lowder, I hope he didn’t commit any crimes, for the sake of the university at least. However, that’s one sure-fire way to finally get him off the BOT.

When is the Oliver Stone movie going to come out?

I also was unaffected by the fact that the writer of the article is a Bammer. It is just sickening to see it all in print. I feel like it makes Auburn look badly. As much as I want him off the BOT, it is not worth dragging the Auburn name through the mud. The more I think about it, the more Lowder is like a spoiled child,..ultimately controlling the situation through threats and intimidation. We just need a good nanny with some backbone to keep him under control.

Our beloved University has already been dragged through the mud....

and Lowder is the mule that did it. I for one won’t shed a tear if they find him guilty of any criminal act……but most of you already know that.

I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU

Amen....

Whatever it takes to remove this man from the BOT. Granted, he has done alot for the university in terms of money and buildings, but as he gave more money he demanded more power. Wheres the love in that?

And

as the article alludes to…how much did he make OFF the University?

What happened

to the rest of the article? Did it take Holiday?

I'm guessing...

… someone made Jay aware of the US’s copyright laws.
