Tigers on a Mission, in Baton Rouge!

Charles_scott_medium

(Track this man, Charles Scott, down and stop him!)

(Auburn at LSU, Open Thread!)

War Eagle, everybody! Tonight, the Auburn Tigers take on LSU, in Baton Rouge, at 6:30 PM, CDT. The game will be televised on ESPN-2. It's another important SEC matchup for both teams. The loser of this game can pretty much kiss any division championship dreams goodbye, after this one.

Auburn's record in Baton Rouge has been anything but stellar. Auburn is 5-13-1, all time, in the Louisiana state capital. The last Auburn win in the series came in the infamous 1999 "Cigar Game," when Auburn defeated LSU 41-7. Since 2003, the Auburn/LSU game has been decided by less than seven points, each year. The 2004 game was decided on a re-kicked extra point, which gave Auburn a 10-9 victory. The 2005 game was decided in overtime, on a missed John Vaughn field goal attempt. Auburn stopped LSU at the 4 yard line in a 7-3 win, in 2006. Matt Flynn hit a TD bomb with several seconds to go in 2007, to lift LSU to a 30-24 win. In 2008, Jarrett  Lee connected with Brandon LaFell on a catch and run, for a late score to put LSU ahead, 26-21. Will history continue?

As always, feel free to chime in, and cheer on the Auburn Tigers! War Eagle, and beat LSU!

War Eagle!

I have to say, I have some pregame jitters, and I am not even playing in the game. I actually dreamed of the game last night..I woke up because, I didn’t want to know how it ended. It’s an auspicious day that’s for sure.

Unbelievably, we are not getting the Alabama/Tenn game out here, so any score updates will be welcome.

Happy Game Day everybody!

Ole Miss doesn't look...

perfect, but they are much improved since the start of the season. Next week will be a battle.

Yeah, there's something...

about those noon games that are just hard to get excited about. Watching Tennessee now, they are going to be really good when they find a quarterback.

Based on the stats, looks like the Volunteer D has been able to keep Bama’s Ingram under wraps. That is no easy task. Looks like a good game!

As good as

the UT D has looked- we played pretty damn well on O. We need to find that swagger tonight……..

by wareagle23 on Oct 24, 2009 7:07 PM CDT reply actions

i think its

If the defensive team doesnt get on their side of the ball and tries to run the clock down they will get flagged or prevents the ball from being snapped in some kind of way like laying on a player too long.

No depth, no Discipline

I call for Ted Roof’s job. Depth might be an issue but you can’t play too conservatively because you don’t want anyone to get hurt. Let them play hard and if they get hurt, then so be it. At least you played 100% wide open. Someone buy firetedroof.com hahaha

We may talk bad about Auburn

but our guys are young, our defense is thin. I still think this year has been a good sign of things to come. I think we could have a better D Coordinator, but we have no depth at all and they are young. So i’m being positive from now on.

I hate gene

I know we don’t have great talent; which is all the more reason you play with disipline! nothing you can do about the talent, but penaltes are coaching. this coach sucks!

by milner34 on Oct 24, 2009 7:34 PM CDT reply actions

Fundamentals are poor

I hate to say this, but Auburn has not looked particularly well-coached these last two (and probably three) games. The players look clueless at times, and frankly don’t seem to have a lot of enthusiasm out there. It doesn’t matter how fired up you are before the game – during the game the players look lost.

The first five game it looked like the coaches had a game plan. Lately – not so much.

All things considered

17-0 isn’t impossible to come back from. We’ve got to get moving on offense though! The defense is actually playing pretty decently, especially against the run.

John Smoltz for Cardinals' closer 2010!!

by jd is legend on Oct 24, 2009 8:09 PM CDT reply actions

I was in grad school at FSU

when we were down 31-0 at half to Fl and came back and tied

by AU04Natlchamps on Oct 24, 2009 8:12 PM CDT up reply actions

Again, LSU looks vulnerable

I still think we have a (slim) chance to come back, if Auburn starts executing. LSU’s offense does not impress me at all. And I think that the LSU defense is susceptible to the run, if we can get a few short passes completed.

by Carrollton Tiger on Oct 24, 2009 8:13 PM CDT reply actions

In the early 90's with Bowden we got 6 interceptions in an LSU game & came back

We are going to have to really adjust and pore it on for that to happen again

by rn4au on Oct 24, 2009 8:14 PM CDT reply actions

I hate to dump on Todd, but . . . .

He looks like he’s had plenty of time. Frankly, his best plays are when he runs. If he could just throw a couple of short out-patterns for a couple of yards, I think it would do wonders for morale.

by Carrollton Tiger on Oct 24, 2009 8:20 PM CDT reply actions

Just checking in at the half....I see the offense on the field, but what the heck are they doing (or not doing)???

The defense gave up the first touchdown with a great display of lack of disipline. But it would be way more ugly out there if they were not stepping up to make some plays. The offense is what is scary. With the camara angles it is hard to tell if Todd is holding onto the ball too long (probably) or if there is just nobody open. We even had a short field and couldn’t come up with crucial points. What the hell guys?!

We have got to come out swinging in the second half or it will get really ugly! It is amazing how this offense has collapsed. Score early, score quickly. Hopefully Chiz will reign them in over the half. War Eagle! Go Tigers!!

Sorry for the absence,

and especially sorry for the miserable Auburn performance, tonight. I had hoped to be back home from an obligation by the first quarter, instead here it is nearly 10:30. I listened to most of the game, and saw maybe 20 plays. We looked like we were running in quicksand, against their skill players, on both sides. On the lines of scrimmage, we held our own. Away from the box, we were woefully outclassed. I was worried about a lopsided score in this one.

…..It is great to be an Auburn Tiger! I think we’ll have a chance, against Ole Miss and Georgia. Can’t make mistakes like tonight, though.

Doubt it

Not only did I stay up and watch that crap from Auburn, now it is 3am and I am up with my son. I knew I should have slept when he did, after it was 14-0.

Wait until you see just how bad Todd was. It might be a all time low. I am not blaming the game on him at all, but I fear that Chris is done. Or at least should be.
