Fire Ted Roof PLEASE!

I attended Auburn University from 1991-1993, however, I had to transfer to UAB where I graduated with a BS in Natural Sciences and Mathematics. I have been going to Auburn games since I was a young boy and have some of my fondest memories there. While at Auburn I had to pull flag duty during games with Navy ROTC. The

The Tuberville years were by far the best in modern history. I have heard many awful rumors about his departure. Regardless of the reasons, the damage was done, and done greatly. I remember a good "Bama" friend of mine telling me during the 2004 season, "if yall are gonna get your national title anytime soon, this is the guy that will get you there."

He couldn't have been more prophetic. I would like to know the true reason for the hire of Chizik. I believe as academics we can handle the truth. I know we will never know the truth of the Tuberville firing for if we did too many heads would roll. However this Chizik and Roof coaching staff is such an insult to the entire memory and institution as a whole I demand that Auburn fire Jay Jacobs, Chizik and for God's sake get rid of that loser Ted Roof.

As long as Jay Jacobs is athletic director at Auburn, they will be a 3rd tier football program. We are the 3rd oldest football club in the world for those of you who don't know. Auburn is not a training club for offensive and defensive coordinators and we are certainly not a training program for head coaches. If I could have a face to face with Jay Jacobs I would tell him he is at best incompetent and at worst a liar. When will the GAF stop funding and demand for the departure of Jacobs, Chizik, Malzahn and Roof?

Not so fast my friend

Miserable yes, drivel maybe not… You can not truely believe that the triplets (Jay, Gene and Ted) can ever make Auburn a top program (USC, Florida and Alabama). God it pains me to add that last football program.

Dude SHUT UP

You’re an idiot and it’s painful being associated with you. Firing these coaches isn’t going to help us in the slightest. That’s not going to bring depth to this team, which is a large part of the reason we lost. Yeah let’s fire all the coaches! That won’t set us back! Ten win season next year if we fire those guys!

Our defense has actually played better than our offense for the last few games. If anything this loss is on our offense and if you want to fire Malzahn, you’re completely deranged.

Tuberville? Why’d he get fired? Let’s see, he was complacent in the SEC which isn’t an option. He was more loyal to guys like Greg Knox and Hugh Knoll than Auburn. Oh yeah, he also got his ass kicked in recruiting by his peers- which, fun fact, is the reason we have no depth this season.

Tubby’s the reason we have no depth this year, the reason our team is spread so thin. We lost. It happens, especially in transition years. Get over it, grow up, shut up, do whatever, but stop embarrassing the rest of us.

Where are you Tubs? The same place you were during the recruiting season? A duck blind in Arkansas? I thought so.

One man to blame

Tommy Tuberville. Auburn will be fine. We are witnessing the results of a poor effort done in the area of recruiting by the previous staff. There is no depth. Tubs shouldn’t get to keep that buyout considering the state of our defense. Four scholarship linebackers? Are you serious. This staff is doing the best with what they have. The only thing worse than th last four years recruiting is your fairweather fan attitude. Go cheer for your alma mater and le
ave the concern for these young men to the real Men of Auburn-you slug

by ArieGold on Oct 24, 2009 11:34 PM CDT via mobile reply actions

One thing to remember about the linebackers.

We have six scholarship linebackers and three of them were brought in last year under Chizik (Eltoro, Evans and Gaston) and one of them is out for the season (Pybus). This is a bad situation.

by Mattco on Oct 25, 2009 1:46 PM CDT up reply actions

One more thing

Tuberville’s first year: 5-6 (2-6)
Pat Dye: 5-6 (2-4)
Shug Jordan: 5-5 (3-4)

Shut the hell up and go watch some basketball or something. I hear the Blazers aren’t too bad.

Also

You do realize the last “e” in “please” is silent? No need to draw it out. Unless you’re a douchebag.

by flemico on Oct 24, 2009 11:53 PM CDT reply actions

Go take your meds

Chill… All I’m saying is you can’t blame Tubbs for everything. Penalties, not knowing the plays, can’t tackle, can’t cover without a foul, not knowing down and distance, not able to take a snap under center, on and on and on. Not Tubbervilles fault. Tubberville, Dye and Jordan pretty fair coaches, even you real Men of Auburn must agree?
Oh by the way real Men of Auburn never resort to name calling just because we do always see eye to eye.

Love This Guy

Tell them how it is man. Chizik and his staff blows balls. Lets bring back Tubs. I think the Kelly guy from Cincinnati would be great. This staff SUCKS

by littlebrothersyndrome on Oct 25, 2009 9:43 AM CDT up reply actions

I'm the one who has to chill?

I hope you appreciate irony. Fire the staff, bring back Tubs? Wow, yeah I should chill out. You clearly have your head on your shoulders.

This is a little more than us not seeing eye to eye. This is you being childishly impatient with a new staff after a bad loss their FIRST SEASON and me wishing fair weather fans wouldn’t blow something like this out of proportion.

Real men of Auburn don’t name call, they cry when they lose football games. I’m upgrading you from douchebag to douchenozzle. Congrats, douchenozzle.

by flemico on Oct 25, 2009 10:37 AM CDT up reply actions

One thing when you change coaching staffs is that not only do players have to learn to play for them the coaches have to learn what they can and can’t do with the players. This year from the start has been a learning experience. No team can have constant 3 and outs and expect the defense to hold up constantly. Everyone knew this was going to be a tough year. Things just went to well early on and people got to high of expectations. We will have a top team in a few years with this coaching staff. Just give them time and patience and appreciate it when we get there.

by WrDmnEgle on Oct 25, 2009 12:57 AM CDT reply actions

Agree with those blasting the author of this article.

It was the success of the early season which made the inevitable losses later in the season seem so catostrophic. It’s the downward trend. If we had lost the first five games and then won the next five, all the naysayers would now be extolling Chizik’s virtues.

by KungFuPanda9 on Oct 25, 2009 7:50 AM CDT reply actions

This is just reactionary bs.

The author would have a valid point if these coaches had their recruits which would allow them to run their systems at full speed and still played as miserably as they did last night. You can’t blame Malzahn for Todd’s poor play. You could arguably blame him for not putting Caudle in sooner, but that is hindsight and Monday morning quarterbacking. Good luck with that.

Malzhan

Four years ago he was a high school coach for god sakes. Tony Franklin would have worked out better.

I WANT MY MOMMY!!!

NIce post!!!

Now THAT is pessimism folks! Nothing like diving into the old pit of despair to get things moving in the right direction. Right?

On what day did the Lord create Bear Bryant and couldn't he have rested on that day too?

by Col.Angus on Oct 25, 2009 9:40 AM CDT reply actions

I'm not ready to blame the coaches yet......

……and anybody that is needs to take a big drink of anti-stupid. Chizik showed up to a team with a serious lack of depth. We have TALENT problems, not coaching problems, and this is due to Tubs and co. being extremely lazy in recruiting the last couple of years. We have no QB. Our receivers are young and inexperienced. Our OL is average at best. Our defense is among the worst in the country. This is a lack of talent on the team, and it’s supremely clear that the present coaching staff is working on these problems BIGTIME. AU will be back in a couple of years, and looks to be heading to a bowl this year. If we lose to Furman, though, I might just shoot myself.

by CapnVegetto on Oct 25, 2009 10:48 AM CDT reply actions

If we lose to Furman

I’ll be right behind these Tuberville bandwagon jackasses in hauling some of these coaches off. Thing is, there’s no way that’ll happen. Furman’s no ULM, if you know what I’m saying.

by flemico on Oct 25, 2009 11:01 AM CDT up reply actions

Be Chill

I’ve been saying it since after our win over Miss St. The Bama team that we need to be looking at for comparison is 2007, not last year’s version of the Tide. If those of you without extremely short memories will recall, they started out 6-2 and the proceeded to drop the last four games of the regular season and limp into their bowl game to barely beat Colorado. Then they went 12-0.

The thing is we all need to chill out and wait. I’m not saying that next year we’re going to run the table. I AM saying that next year will be much better than the current one, and that people like the moron who posted this will hopefully be sitting in a corner with nothing negative to say about the coaching staff.

Also: Fire the OC, HC, and DC mid season? Remember what happened when we got rid of Franklin last year? We were worse off than when we had him. And THAT is saying something. I don’t want another nation fiasco.

by SrWiggles on Oct 25, 2009 12:37 PM CDT reply actions

Yep.

I mentioned this on one of the other Auburn sites that I frequent. There are a lot of similarities between us this year and 2007 Alabama, except they had more talent and depth in place already. Even down to the fans starting to yell for coaches to be fired when the wheels fell off.

by Mattco on Oct 25, 2009 1:47 PM CDT up reply actions

Now I will address the original poster.

You are obviously either a Bama troll or an idiot. Here is the truth, are you ready for it? Tuberville put us in a hole and Jacobs and Chizik are trying to claw us out of it. Look at it unbiasedly and see that we have been on a downward spiral since Chizik left, our defense got worse every year, our talent got thinner while everyone around us were loading up and Tuberville had miserable assistants who taught most of these kids poorly for the past few years.

Just on the defensive side of the ball, our linebackers were taught to place aggressively and take poor angles and that is being worked on. Our defensive lineman are doing a poor job of pressuring the pocket on both running backs and quarterbacks and our corners can’t cover the top guys in the conference. More talent is on its way but it takes time.

On offense, we have no quarterback with good skill in the pocket and/or on the run. Our running backs are a bright spot, our receivers run poor routes and lack the ability to get open, our offensive line was one of the worst coached lines in the country.

Only two assistants from the Tuberville regime last year is still working in football, one is Eddie Gran and the other is the fall guy that got fired midseason to save the jobs of the clowns who couldn’t coach.

Why do I have to read...

BAMA so much in this post? What do they have to do with this?

by String30 on Oct 29, 2009 11:09 AM CDT up reply actions

Hmmmm

and we beat the two teams that have our former assistants! lol

I've seen good TEAMS beat teams with great individuals.

by Indytiger1 on Oct 25, 2009 5:51 PM CDT reply actions

And now the idiots have truly....

come out of the wood work like cockroaches. Everyone who knows me knows I was vehemently against Tubbs getting the axe…..I felt like he had done enough for the program to deserve the chance to right the program (my opinion has not changed in that regard but that’s water under the bridge). You also know that I felt like Jacobs dropped the ball with the coaching search and didn’t make the correct hire (my opinion of Jay Jacobs also has not changed). What has also not changed is my support of our football program and my Alma Matre. I don’t care who was right and at what point they were right on or wrong or any of that. I support the program and its coaches and I will continue to do so until it is obvious that they are not the right people for the job and there is no other possible explanation of it……we are a long long way from that point and will not be there this season. Show some patience as well as common sense and don’t be a part of the problem.

I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU

by Todd92 on Oct 26, 2009 1:33 PM CDT reply actions

Finally

I could not agree with you more. This is exactly how I feel. I never said bring back Tubbs; my choice was Greg Petterson (Boise State) however, it is My opinion that Flemico knows way too much about douche.

Finally

Correction – Chris Peterson.
