Chris Todd to remain starting QB
I thought I would share this with all of you courtesy of Charles Goldberg.
Chris Todd will remain Auburn's quarterback.
That's the word from coach Gene Chizik this Sunday following Saturday's offensively-challenged 31-10 loss to LSU.
``We're not going to make a change this week,'' Chizik said. ``After going back and looking at it, we would have loved for the offensive production to be better. But we're in the month of October and we're going against much tougher competition. We're at the point we have to execute better.
``We still think Chris gives us the best chance to win. It's not like our offense hasn't done it. We have.''
Todd hit 8-of-14 passes for 47 yards against LSU as Auburn lost its third straight game. The Tigers will look to rebound at home against Ole Miss on Saturday.
Chizik said the biggest difference in the passing game is the problems throwing down field.
He said Auburn was passing for 250-260 yards in wins, but it's dropped, overall, to less than a 100 yards in each of the last two games.
"It's not every play, but right now, we're not producing at the level to win these tough football games,'' Chizik said.
Chizik said teams are catching up with the offense. He said it's natural.
"When you get to game seven, eight and nine, they have all your film, and everybody has a good idea what everybody is doing.''
`"We have talked in depth on things we need to look at offensively as a whole,'' Chizik said. He said he and offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn have discussed changes, "but it wasn't specifically related to one guy.''

My Thoughts: I don't feel changing QB's right now will change anything. We knew this was going to be a very difficult season but Chizik must also realize that he doesn't have the honeymoon period most new coaches get in their first year (at least I don't think he does but what do I know). But thanks to the previous regime we have no depth what so ever on offense or defense. You can only do so much with what you have and it's times like these we must all practice patience. I know it's been said a million times since our loss to Arkansas but that's all we can do as fans. I will be in Auburn for the game against Ole Miss for the dreaded 11:21 start but let's be honest, the late games haven't been all that great lately either. Maybe we can get things turned around this week. I will be honest, the way Ole Miss played Arkansas this week in that time slot has me extremely worried. Especially with flashbacks of how we played Arkansas. I've got my fingers crossed though. Anything can happen.

I think we should switch to Caudle
Not because it will improve us this season, but because it will get him experience going into next season. And if next season our offense starts to suck like it has this season, then move to Rollison.
John Smoltz for Cardinals' closer 2010!!
JD you couldn't be more right.
I am now convinced that Auburn no longer wants to be big time. As long as Jay Jacobs is there, we’re going to be no more important than Ole Miss or Arkansas one of whom already destroyed us. Take it on the chin this year, it’s going to suck. But, we’ve got to start planning on how next year will be better. Not just next year, but the future in general. This is the kind of thinking from Chizik that did us in last year. What’s his problem? Move on, it’s going to happen eventually anyway, this season is over. Other than some really dumb people, most of us aren’t screaming for Chizik’s head at all. We’re aware of the lack of talent. Ugh, this is terrible news!!
JD, I've been trying to preach that
I don’t think Caudle is going to ride in on a white horse and save the day, that would be completely stupid. But it is very important for him to get some experience, and right now he has the chance to see some really tough defense without having all of the awful consequences that would normally come with facing those teams. Run him out there and let him get ahead of the curve.

Wow this is dissapointing.
I am really hoping that the coaches see something in practices and one-on-one that us fans are not privy to. It is like Todd and Crompton switched after the Auburn-Tenn game or something. That makes more sense to me than sticking with a qb that clearly has his issues.

The coaches know who they have
what talent they have, and what they don’t. Obviously if there was a better qb, they’d play him. There isn’t one. Neil Caudle was never close to starting this season. It was either Kodi or Todd and he won handily. I don’t want this to be the third straight year an Auburn qb is booed on their home field because the fans see some fools gold in the backup.
This team needs support, not amateur backseat coaching.
Unfortunatly
I have to agree with you about Caudle. I would love to see him at least get some reps but he has been riding pine under two different regimes and three offensive coordinators so he must not have what it takes if none of them would let him see daylight.
Burns is a good kid but we all know how it ends if he starts taking the snaps again and losing Rollison for a year to play him for four games would be stupid at this point, I just wish they had him working in the lineup from game 1 and I have wished that from game 1. There is no way to learn and get experience like being in the game.
We are looking to the future...
You don’t seem to understand that. I accept losing right now, but what about next year Mr. Felmico?
No, I understand
It’s not exactly a complicated concept. While you may accept failure now, I think this coaching staff has not thrown in the towel yet, evidenced by sticking to Todd.
If they thought the season was over, yeah they’d put in Caudle or Burns and it would be the smart play. But they think they can still win games, so they’ll stick with Todd and that’s fine.
If we’re getting blown out Saturday by Ole Miss, then by all means, look ahead to next year and give Caudle some time. But I don’t think this team is quite done yet, nor do I think Caudle will be leading this team next year.
Rollison playing time?
How does that red shirt work? can he play a couple of quarters and still be considered red shirted?
AUBURN is back!
I say don't play him any...
He doesn’t need that funk and grime on him of this season. Let’s coach him up and get him out there ready. He’s perfect for this offense and McCaleb may stay more healthy next year. In addition, the WR’s will have another year under Trooper Taylor, which is some good teaching I think. Let Rollison come in without the stink of this year. He represents a new start. I doubt he will even start next year, but his red shirt will be well used.
I may get stoned for saying this
But here I go… What about Burns if Todd fails to produce for a fourth straight game. Burns looks like he still has his arm from what I’ve seem of him, and we could go to an even more run heavy offense; like Pat White had at West Virginia. With three capable ball carriers in the backfield, running could become even easier. And burns shouldn’t have as much trouble with stacked boxes when it comes time to throw…

I wouldn't be shocked......
that if the Coaches did make the decision to bench Todd that they would turn to Burns but I still say that is a long shot. The problem is throughout the offense and not just with the QB….otherwise Todd would have already lost the job and I have no doubt of that. Until the problems are fixed (i.e., the penalties, the RB’s picking up their blocking assignments, the recievers getting seperation as well as Todd trying to do too much) then it would be fruitless to change the QB. I mean really how does anyone think that changing the QB is the answer when there are so many other things that need fixing as well?
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
