Three Cheers for Paul Rhoads

As most of you have heard by now, former Auburn defensive coordinator and current Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads got a huge win at Nebraska last Saturday. Below is the post game celebration.  It's an awesome piece of video. Rhoads is a class individual. It's great to see him having success back in his home state.

As a Cyclone, it’s double-awesome because pretty much everyone in this area feels like Chizik basically lied to our faces until he could sweep in and take his dream job at Auburn.

Rhoads, on the other hand, seems to truly give a damn about a team that’s hard to give a damn about. That will serve him extremely well in Ames.

And how fun would an Iowa State v. Auburn Independence Bowl be with that kind of a back story?

Nice video...

That was a signature win for ISU. Congrats!

I can see where your upset with Chizik. He just signed an extension to his contract at ISU right before he bolted for Auburn. Lord knows we’ve had our share of defections here too. I was wondering though if you think that some of the things that Chizik did while at ISU helped ISU and Rhoads’ transition easier. Things like red-shirting alot of the younger kids so that they were better prepared for this season, recruiting, or other things such as that. You seem kinda pissed at the man but i was just wondering. So an honest evaluation would be nice.

On another note, Congrats on Rhoads. He is a good coach that truly appears to be happy he is back in Iowa. As happy as Chizik is to be back in the south where he grew up.

And yes your right. ISU vs Auburn in a bowl game would be great.

Paul Rhodes is indeed everything he appears to be ...

… in that video. Wonderful person and terrific coach … and many of us are cheering the great win.

It's called connecting ...

… and it appears Rhoads has connected quite well with the folks and his team in Iowa. I attended OU (long ago during the Switzer years) so I can attest to the thrill of beating Nebraska … well done Cyclones!

I’m puzzled … in the video, the players called Rhoads “the best.” If Chizak had the same role and he “moved up” then wouldn’t it follow Chizak be thought of as a “better” coach? How could Rhoads be the best?? Perhaps I’m being too logical here … or perhaps Jacobs and crew bought a pig in a poke.

Don’t be surprised when Chizak’s new team has less wins than his old team …
