More Random-ness
My post is going to be a bit short and discombobulated this week mainly due to the fact that my Tennessee Game viewing was in a post partum room of "the baby factory" in
General notes
Wes Byrun is playing really well. I know that he missed a FG against UT, but I, for one, am glad that he got that one out of the way. I did not want him missing his first one in a last second situation.
Ben Tate is a man. He made Eric Berry look stupid when Eric bounced off him like a rag doll. The commentators seemed to have a Julio Jones/Tim Tebow type love affair with him. Eric is good, but he did not really do anything to make me think he is a game changer like I thought he would. I give that credit to Gus Malzahn and Darvin Adams.
Our defense is not all that good. I hate the "bend don’t break" type defenses. If we are going to be that type of defense, we better learn to stop breaking. The Vols scored on us too easily on two different occasions. If they had anyone better than Crompton, we could have lost. Freeman still looks lost the majority of the time. Get that boy some game film to watch of the linebackers from
Onterio McCalebb can catch the ball and make people miss. If his ankle was hurting at all you sure could not tell it. With him going into the flats on one side and Mario Fannin in the flats on the other side, it is a defensive coordinator’s nightmare.
Lastly, it looks like
Again, please forgive my overly choppiness. I am running on little sleep. I am trying to be as dedicated an "employee" as I am a dedicated Auburn Fan.

Ugh...
Well I sure am glad our defense is so terrible. I guess we don’t even line up against the other team during the game. I mean we certainly didn’t shut them down for three quarters did we? That couldn’t have happened right? Plus, we didn’t hold one of the top running backs in the country under 100 yards did we? There’s no way that happened either. The defense doesn’t exist and it is a figment of our imagination.
Yeah, I have to plead mercy for this young defense as well.
Let’s remember that we are, on an experiential level, playing with two and a half linebackers and a majority freshmen secondary. There is one starting line up with almost no one to step in to replace a fallen soldier.
Defensive shemes are just about as complicated as offensive schemes. And I would argue it takes a bit more football smarts to play defense because it is more reactive than offense. It’s like playing black in chess. Offense knows the play. Defense has to intuit the play, and even then they have to make optimal choices during that play to prevent a gain.
The kids are doing an amazing job considering their experience level.
Because our offense is so overwhelmingly successful, fans are dismayed because our defense is not equally as powerful. Just consider the reasons. Everything is not able to be corrected by coaching or planning or scheming. It may simply be that we are thin and young on defense and so have to play in a manner that exploits our strengths and minimizes our weaknesses.
We knew going into this season that our defense would not be as strong as our offense. Also, Malzahn’s defenses historically have had to bear a greater burden. Therefore, our young guys are taking on an additional workload. I’d say they are doing an awesome job.
For the critics who thought we’d be lucky to get a bowl game this year, we are almost guaranteed seven or eight wins.
Hey Zach, you can see the game later...
in its entirety on ESPN 360.com, if you have time. I had to miss it and I viewed it on 360 Tuesday night.

Congratulations Zach.....
on the birth of your son, another future Auburn man makes his debut. I tell my kids all the time I’m gonna send two kids to school at AU and I sure hope its them.
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
Congratulations!
……As I always say, sleep is overrated! When the kids get big enough to eat $100 worth of groceries a day, you’ll look back on these days fondly…
Yeah
Glad you brought another person into the Auburn family. I hope you have a blessed time bringing up your son and who knows, he may be a future Auburn Tiger on the field.
Any truth
to the rumor that you named him Darvin Adam Powell?
