Todd Added To Maxwell Award Watch List

AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn senior quarterback Chris Todd is one of 12 players that have been added to the watch list for the 2009 Maxwell Award, the Maxwell Football Club announced Thursday. The preseason watch list was expanded to include players who warrant attention because of their noteworthy play during the 2009 season.

Todd is the second Auburn player to be named to the watch list, joining senior running back Ben Tate, who was one of the original 55 players named to the list during the preseason.

Todd has completed 81-of-138 passes for 1,230 yards and 12 touchdowns with just one interception this season, while leading Auburn to a 5-0 record and a No. 17 national ranking. He is ranked seventh nationally in yards per completion (15.2), tied for seventh in touchdown passes (12) and eighth in passing efficiency (160.81).

Todd has established a career high in passing yards three times this season, with a season best of 287 yards against Ball State. He tied the school record for touchdown passes in a game with five against the Cardinals, one week after he threw four scoring passes against West Virginia. He became the first Auburn quarterback ever to throw at least four touchdown passes in back-to-back games.

The Maxwell Award has been presented to the outstanding collegiate football player in America since 1937 and is named in honor of Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell.

Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced on Nov. 4 and three finalists for the award will be announced Nov. 23. The winner will be announced as part of the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show which will be held on Dec. 10. The formal presentation of the award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards Gala hosted by Harrah's Entertainment Atlantic City on March 5, 2010.
