The Time Has Come!
War Eagle, everybody! It's a fine fall morning, with finally a little bit of frost on the ground! It's time to get fired up, and to cheer our beloved Tigers on to victory over arch-rival Alabama! It's been 20 years since Alabama was forced to make their first trip to Jordan Hare Stadium, and Auburn will be trying to hand them their 8th loss on the green grass of Pat Dye Field!
In addition to beating Bama, Auburn has a number of records within reach. Senior defensive end Antonio Coleman has 22 career sacks, just 4 sacks shy of the record 26, set by Quentin Groves and Gerald Robinson. Ben Tate has 3168 career rushing yards, and needs just 200 in the last two games to surpass Joe Cribbs for 4th place on the all-time rushing list. Tate's 1209 rushing yards this season ranks 9th in school history. If Tate racks up 200 total in the last two games, he'll move into 3rd place, behind only Bo Jackson and Rudi Johnson. Chris Todd's 19 touchdown passes are just one short of the school single-season record. Pat Sullivan and Jason Campbell each had 20. Darvin Adams trails only Terry Beasley in single-season receiving touchdowns. Adams currently has 9, and needs 3 to tie Beasley's best season.
Here's hoping for a great Iron Bowl! We'll be here all day, cheering on the Tigers! As always, feel free to chime in and tell us what you think!

Thanks
And while I’m here, even though I basically never go traffic-trolling, I’d like to think you and the other folks here would enjoy some thoughts from this morning. I wouldn’t normally do that, but like cinnamon buns it’s the sort of post that’s best at its freshest, and I want as many people to see it as quickly as possible.
T-minus 90 minutes!
That's a refreshing piece!
…..I’m kind of shocked at the lack of Iron Bowl stuff on my feed reader, to be honest. Especially the site I’m paying for, Auburn Undercover…
This is a strange...
…..Iron Bowl morning, in the Tragic City. Usually, there are at least two TV stations going wall-to-wall Iron Bowl coverage. This morning? The Dr.s on NBC, Dr. Oz on FOX, Cincy vs. Name Redacted and the Illini on ABC, YnR on CBS, Street Court on CW, and the Steve Wolkos on the local independent. Odd. I can’t imagine that sort of syndicated junk would out-draw the Iron Bowl!
Here were are...
…..an hour from kickoff, and no real news from the Stadium. My early guess on Eltoro Freeman is that he’s a no-go. All season long, when Chizik is still saying “day to day” on Wednesday, that guy hasn’t practiced enough to play. We’ll be seeing true freshman Jonathan Evans getting his first start, in the Iron Bowl, I suspect.
Anyone watching the game at the hotel at auburn?

Here’s where we really silence all doubters of the Auburn program this season. A win here would be signature for Gene and his staff.
If hip hop is dead, then it happened the day that Dilla died.
-Akrobatik
Depth at linebacker....
…..now is walkons Ashton Richardson, Wade Christopher, and Chris Humphries. Ouch!
……Bama was undefeated, heading to Jordan Hare, ranked number two in the nation! What happened? Auburn 30, Alabama 20! “Let the celebrating begin!” said Jim Fyffe!
Doesn't Bama
Run a lot of weakside blasts?
If hip hop is dead, then it happened the day that Dilla died.
-Akrobatik
Checking an abbreviated college scoreboard...
……Cincinnati is having little trouble dispatching the Fighting Zookers of Illini, leading 42-20 in the 4th.
Cincinnati remains....
…..in the BCS title picture, waiting on Texas, Florida and Alabama to stumble.
5 TDs
I can’t decide if I think Tony Pike is a NFL prospect or not.
If hip hop is dead, then it happened the day that Dilla died.
-Akrobatik
I saw some of it.
…..the Illini safeties are HORRIBLE. They let him get open one time 40 yards behind them.
Yeah
I saw a highlight of a tight end like 60 yards downfield. Illinois’ defense must suck.

Nice return… but my computer mistyped i guess

No Vern and Gary,
….this game. I’ve got Stan and Rod on, anyway. They’ll give more pertinent and accurate info! Let’s hope the radio doesn’t have a cavernous delay…
3rd and 5
…..Possession play! Shotgun, trips right. Motion by Jones. McElroy flushed, throws it away!
Todd
Has 99 more yards than McElroy for his season passing yards.
If hip hop is dead, then it happened the day that Dilla died.

Just gotta manage
The big plays will come.

2nd and 10
…..at the 29. Checking off. Tate in the pistol. Bama showing safety blitz, TODD TAKES OFF!

If they want a chance, this is exactly how they have to play

Number 1 Recruiting priority this offseason
Punt returner
If hip hop is dead, then it happened the day that Dilla died.
-Akrobatik
3:44 in the first.
……And Auburn will set up at the 18. Bama will try to get this game under control, defensively.
2nd and 5
…..Shotgun. Now the meercat to the sideline. Tate to the right. Punp fake, and Todd overthrows Trott badly.
Congrats!
You guys off to a great start! Just hope it continues….

our defense
has only played two quick series and playing with some confidence! Where’d that come from?
Will Bama try another shot downfield,
maybe against Thorpe? Would be a good gamble, but it would put them behind the sticks if it doesn’t work.
Bama set up...
…..with one back. Crowd roars. McElroy hits, Julio Jones drops a nicely set up screen.
Damn
Knew who the ball was going to there.

Bama so far...
…..has done what they needed to, on this drive. They were getting killed on time of possession, before it.
1st and 10 Bama
at the Auburn 20. Shotgun. Blitz, and the swing pass to Richardson is down to the 8.
Holding
To a field goal here would be huge.
If hip hop is dead, then it happened the day that Dilla died.
-Akrobatik
We've been running the ball...
…..well. The last two Todd throws, though, were just OFF. We’ve GOT to do better, this time!
C'mon O, take those points back!

Mark Richt (November 3, 2009)
3rd and 4
…..Shotgun quickly. Now a play change. Tightening up. The corner blitz, no change. Todd doesn’t even see it.
You throw it over...
…..a corner blitz. Auburn didn’t have a guy over there, so Arenas just came free. Todd has to SEE that, and get rid of it.
Gotta make those tackles

I don't know....
WHAT we can do, about the punt returner. We’ve easily dropped 20 of those things, this season.
and give the D a break......

2nd and 7
…..Shotgun. Bama coming, the hitch, WAY short, Adams can’t get it on the dive. POOR throw.
Auburn had a gunner...
…..down on the punt, didn’t see who it was. Hit Arenas IMMEDIATELY, but didn’t wrap up.
Officials having difficulty setting the ball.
…..Play action, bomb. Tipped around, McFadden can’t pull it in!
Oh my goodness!!

That third and long...
…..safety blitz/give up a TD call was reminiscent of Will Muschamp. WHY call it on 3rd and long?
I wish
We would man up. Have they figured out that you can’t stop dink and dunk passes with zone coverage

2nd and 5,
spot it at the 27. Shotgun. Auburn showing all-out blitz. McElroy tried to stuff it in, Thorpe drops a pick.
Ziemba
Please get that dumb ass out of the game.
Up Tempo
Lets get a TD before the end of the half

Enough Screens
Go downfield

3rd and very long.
…..Shotgun. Bama coming. Timeout called. Bama was creeping ALL sorts of guys up to the line.
I'd run...
……a Zachary post from one side, and an Adams square in from the other. Max protect, try to hit the in to get into field goal range.
A Draw
Would’ve been great there. Middle was wide open.
If hip hop is dead, then it happened the day that Dilla died.

Thank you! If I hear one more time about the SERIOUS injury with face lacerations I'm gonna throw up
Woods...
….is about as big a golf celebrity as you’ve ever seen. They’ll be giving reports from the nurse’s station all afternoon, I’ll bet. Here’s hoping Woods is OK, and that the press doesn’t hinder his healing process too much!
It's time to fix...
……a beer, and some turkey/provolone wraps. Duke’s mayo, campari tomato slices, and a dollop of Gulden’s spicy brown mustard. My coffee ran out, on that last Auburn drive.
If you would have told me yesterday
it would be 14-14 at the half, I would have taken itin a heartbeat.

The radio I'm using...
…..is one of those wood bookshelf Magnavox jobs from the 1970s, with six inch speaker. It can put out the volume, surprisingly.
Bama....
……was really attacking the line at the end of the half. To counter that, we’ve got to use less time-consuming ball fakes, and more blocking. Bama’s not buying the 4 wides. They KNOW we’re either going to screen it to Fannin, or bomb it to Adams.
…..Defensively, we’ve done great against Ingram and Jones, but Colin Peek has KILLED us. We’ve got to find a way to keep McElroy from checking down to Peek.
Tell me
When the game comes back on. I can’t take this halftime show anymore.

We've got....
….about an hour of bad shadows coming, with that low-in-the-sky sun, this time of year.
3rd and a long yard.
…..Shotgun. Bama up tight. Swing it to Tate, and he’s going to lose a bunch of yards.
Can't convert
A damn 3rd and 1

If you're going to...
…..drag half the Bama D in on a play fake, you CAN’T throw it short of the stake!
Auburn subbing on D.
…..Bama in the shotgun. McElroy takes, threw it away. Coverage sack. He took a shot from Nick Fairley.
I Cant
Believe they started in shotgun.

War Eagle,
…..and thanks to all the great folk who hung in on this thread, today! THis is what a great college football rivalry is all about.
well
Going outside. A rare sunny day in the pacific northwest cannot be ruined by an Iron Bowl loss. I guess its dark where yall are at already, but not here. WAR EAGLE!! We gave em hell. Thanks Acid and everybody.
My hat's off to the Bama squad,
…..and I hope they tear Florida a new one. They could have folded, after we bloodied ’em early. This game turned into a slug-fest, and they had just a little bit more than we did.
I'm Proud
But I also don’t feel good just saying " Oh darn, guess we’ll get em next year". Should’ve been a damn win. Instead of Auburn being mentioned, all the reporters say is “Alabama struggled, but still won.” We need to win these types of games to get back into national contention.
If hip hop is dead, then it happened the day that Dilla died.

Yep, the last wisps...
…..of sunset are fading. The sun goes down quick, in late November. War Eagle, and good luck in the BCS race, to Alabama.
Thx AR
Y’all gave us all we wanted and more. I could see you hanging your heads after last year’s game but you shouldn’t after this one. AU came out and left every bit of themselves on that field. These are the kind of games that makes this rivalry special. See you guys next year at Bryant-Denny. I have BAMA season tix, so maybe I can get up with some of you that might make the trip next season.
Auburn and Tennessee fans are a lot like Slinkys...neither are worth much but you do get a sense of satisfaction from pushing them down a flight of stairs
Stand tall, Tigers!
……The future looks bright. For those who feel the offense lost this game, just remember: We’ll have a different look in the backfield, next year. For better or worse. We might be missing Todd and Tate, in the early going.
Acid pls do a favor ...
…. if you review the tape.
Let me know if you see a ‘pick’ on the critical 3rd down play that sprung julio for the first down.

One of the best Iron Bowls I can remember. That game was hard fought, physical, emotional…it was everything an Iron Bowl should be. That game was a great example of why this is the greatest rivalry in sports.
Auburn has nothing to be ashamed of, and holy hell did Chizik ever have those guys ready to play! I’m gaining an awful lot of respect for that man. The more I see out of him, the more I like him.
Roll Tide, we couldn’t ask for a more worthy foe than the Tigers we saw today. I was glad the guys in Crimson won, but both teams played like champions.
