Best Back in the State--And The Conference

The final regular season SEC conference stats are in and the one we were all interested--best running back--has been decided. Bear in mind that the rushing leader isn't determined by total rushing yards, it's yards per game. Anthony Dixon of Mississippi State missed the first game against Jackson State, so he only had eleven games total, giving him a slight edge in YPG over both Mark Ingram and Ben Tate. It's academic anyway, given that Jackson State was the first game out of the gate for MSU and Dixon would have certainly padded his stats there.
While Tate and Ingram were dueling it out in the Iron Bowl, Dixon not only caught up with Ingram, but Montario Hardesty of Tennessee snuck past Tate to take third place in the SEC. I think it's certain though that if both Auburn and Alabama were interested in padding rushing stats, they would have given more carries to both backs in the late-season scrimmages against Furman and Chattanooga.

Dexter McCluster is the best RB in the SEC
Houston Nutt is certifiably insane for not using him more earlier in the season
And, in a related story, this week marked the 5,000th performance of the Broadway musical "Cats." It also marked the 5,000th time a guy turned to his wife and said, "What the hell is this?"
I agree that McCluster
is a great RB, but I don’t think that with his small frame he would have been able to hold up all season if they used him. While I agree that Nutt is stupid for not using him more earlier in the year, I believe that he would have gotten injured by the pounding that RBs take in this league.
If you are a War Damn Eagle, you can War Damn anything.
yards per attempt
The most telling stat IMO. Ingram has over a yard on Dixon and Tate.
What you're seeing is team spirit. It's like the Holy Spirit, but more powerful.
-Hank Hill
I think that attest to his offensive line being so good.
I really would like to see his numbers with lesser talent then i think the “truer” numbers will show
AUBURN is back!
well
Ingram’s yards after contact has been well covered every time we play
I mean, he had the least carries of the top 4
Terrence Cody eats your field goal!

thats really a flawed stat
Really its the angle of the contact that really makes the difference. The offensive line can affect a defenders angle and of course its easier to break a tackle from a bad angle.
AUBURN is back!
Bowl predictions
Where do you think the Tigers will end up playing their bowl game?

I think both Ingram and tate are being undersold.
If you look at the stats against SEC opponents:
Ingram – 166 att., 1030 yds, 7 TDs, 6.2 YPC
Dixon – 191 att., 1016 yds, 8 TDs, 5.3 YPC
Tate – 179 att., 924 yds, 6 TDs, 5.2 YPC
Hardesty – 187 att., 857 yds, 9 TDs, 4.6 YPC
