Outback Bound
I will have to say that I am shocked over this, but here is the story...

Looks like the rubber game in our 3-game set against the Badgers
I, too, am shocked at this. I thought we’d end up on the short stick of the 7-5 Bowlpocalypse but it appears that we’re the big winners. If this news is true, this is an excellent development for Auburn. A New Year’s Day bowl game in the talent hotbed of Florida could pay huge dividends for the program. War Eagle!
And, in a related story, this week marked the 5,000th performance of the Broadway musical "Cats." It also marked the 5,000th time a guy turned to his wife and said, "What the hell is this?"
Outback Bowl
The Outback Bowl kicks at 11am (not 10am) and Big 10 team is not yet determined, but otherwise the story is accurate.

I agree
The Outback passed on Tennessee and took a west team. That does not happen often
If you are a War Damn Eagle, you can War Damn anything.
I agree, and one of the least likeliest, too
On Monday I would have put 200:1 odds on Auburn to the Outback

Great News !
I’ve been to the Outback bowl before. They do a good job. I don’t like the early start, but that’s OK. I thought we would possibly land in Music Bowl but this is even better. War Eagle !

i like Auburn's chances against anybody right now...
OUTBACK BOWLIN!… i really like AU’s chances against anybody right now. video clips of coaches and players throughout the season really look like a team that has settled in…building a FAMILY and football team. the injury and roster challenges of the year seem to have contributed to this team comraderie…and i am sensing to,…that there is a good gel between AU coaches too.
i still wonder about the calm of chizik… everyone has their style… but it seems Trooper Taylor is going to be the guy who is going to fly around the sidelines and FIRE AU up during the game.
not sure who mentioned it, but i agree on the point that this bowl will pay dividends on the recruiting trail. chizik is steady,… i imagine he presents himself a bit more humble a human than those egos of UF and bama…
i think mccalebb’s speed could be an important factor playing against the Big 10. would love to get onterio the ball with some space and let him carve up those guys…

As I mentioned on another thread....
This is great news for us. No only for the possiblity of exposure to recruits in Florida, but also for the players on this team that stuck together through thick and THIN. Its a real tribute to those guys for working as hard as they have this year. Even with everything that continued to stack against them throughout the year.
I bet this news hits bammers the hardest considering it was how well we played in the Iron Bowl that probably got us into this bowl game. There’s your Moral Victory (insert any derogatory remarks here).
We have a month to catch up on the sleep. Haha, I think we will be ready for it. I’m really pumped.

It means we're all going to be hungover as hell during the game
Or, you can tone it back on New Year’s Eve. I won’t, but you can!

Morning game
Are y’all forgetting what we did to Ole Miss this year with a morning kickoff? I’m not too worried about it. Hopefully this staff keeps them more disciplined down there than the old staff did after the ’05 season at the Capital One Bowl.
"We're at AUBURN. I think that says it all. We're going after the best in the country -- no matter when, what, where, how. That's how we're going to do it. We're going to work really hard to try to get that done every year -- including this one." -- Auburn University Head Football Coach Gene Chizik
I'm shocked. There will be some whining...
….from other camps, I’ll bet! The last time Auburn was in the Outback was MISERABLE. It rained cats and dogs, and Tampa Stadium does NOT drain. We’ll be better off this year, if it rains. Chris Todd has shown that he can throw a pretty good wet ball, and who can forget Malzhan’s offense in the rain in the GMAC bowl, last year?
Good analogy...
…. I sat through that monsoon. It does rain alot in Tampa, but your right we probably have more experience playing in the rain than anyone this year.

Now they're saying they won't announce until Sunday
If Auburn and the Outback have a contract in place, then it won’t matter, but for some reason I’m worried the bowl will renege between now and then.
