Tyrik Rollison Suspended

Numerous media sources are reporting this morning that Auburn freshman reserve quarterback Tyrik Rollison has been suspended from the team for an unspecified rule violation. Rollison, who's taking a redshirt this season, was expected to compete with Neil Caudle for the starting job next year. There's no word on how long the suspension is for or whether he'll participate in any bowl activities over the next month. At least short term, this is a huge blow to Auburn's 2010 plans.

"We have high standards that we have set and fully expect our team to meet," Auburn coach Gene Chizik said. "When these expectations are not met, I will make decisions based upon what is best for the entire football team and the Auburn Family."

Dang

This sucks for sure. I had really high hopes for this kid. Of course i’m not under the impression that he is the savior or anything. Just that he showed serious promise to the offense we run.

Word on the street is that he got into a fight. When are these guys going to realize what they have been given. The opportunity to receive an education for free while getting the opportunity to showcase your skills on a national stage. Why some of them choose to just throw that away because some smartass in a bar calls you something derogatory is beyond me. I understand more than most(as of my recent encounter with a bammer on here will tell you) that emotions can run high at times but to get physical with so much riding on your actions is a bad thing. Hopefully this is only a temporary thing and he will learn from it. Afterall he is only a kid and is still learning the way of the force….hehe.

Jonno...

I am also hearing it was a fight. So, not sure who to believe on this one, but either way he was suspended.

Ryan Perriloux?

And, in a related story, this week marked the 5,000th performance of the Broadway musical "Cats." It also marked the 5,000th time a guy turned to his wife and said, "What the hell is this?"

We'll see

I’m not sure if he is that troublesome or not. Remember this is a suspension. We don’t know what might’ve happened. At any event, he’s suspended, but I hope he’s back on and quick. We didn’t need this right now at all. This is troublesome news.

It's just a suspension

He wasn’t going to play in the bowl game anyways. I don’t see what the big deal is.

It is too early to know if it is a big deal or not.

If we find out he isn’t making the grades, then that is a huge deal. He won’t be available for spring practice and maybe not even next season (possibly ever). If it’s because he was fighting then, depending the circumstances, could also be a big deal as well. Were charges filed? What was it over? Is he even welcome back to the team?

This guy is supposed to be our future at QB. If he can’t keep his act together, we may need to start looking in another direction quickly.

We've still got Clint Mosely and Barrett Trotter

If he were not welcome back on the team.....

he would not have been suspended, he would have been booted. And he’s an 18 year old kid away from home for the first time……until something is said to make me feel otherwise I agree with JD.

I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU

I hope

it is for grades and not behavior. It’s easier to get the grades up than fix a behavioral problem.

Thats good to hear.... I think.

I suppose we knew this could be a problem for him considering the time he had getting qualified. You right, its much easier to fix his study habits than a behavioral problem. Get your nose in a book Tyrik and out of those girls panties. I miss college, especially in the spring. Mmmm…..
