Lebo's Kids
With five games left, it appears that the young men on
Back to the good stuff… if Tay Waller and Korvortney Barber keep their stellar play up, these Tigers could sneak out a 3-2 record over these last 5 games and make
Some might say, "What about the Big Dance?" Well 20 wins and a winning record in conference does not do what it used to. There are just too many good mid major teams these days. And just too many Div I teams all together to have the old criteria apply. Also the SEC is woefully down this season, and the power conferences like ACC and Big East will take the extra spots.
The only shot at the NCAA’s I can see would be to go 4-1 or better over the last 5 games, and make some serious noise in the SEC Tourney. I don’t think the Tigers would have to win it necessarily, but they would have to get to the finals.
We all can really hope for the above, but I just don’t see
Maybe Lebo is getting our young men ready to play. It has just taken him awhile to get his point across. Whether you think he should stay or not, at least the team seems to be playing for him to have another year.

I think that barring a total bust of the last 5 games.....
we are in the NIT. And I agree with your statement that should we go 4-1 in the last 5 we will get on the bubble for the NCAA……if we win 2 in Tampa we are in the NCAA IMO. if we go 3-2 we will need to get to the finals of the tourney to get cosideration, and only an SEC tourney win would guarantee AU a spot in the dance in any situation barring going 5 of 5 in the regular season. Lets put it mildly here…..winning the SEC tournament is a long shot at best, going 5 of 5 over the last five with 2 being against LSU and 3 of the 5 on the road would probably net you a very healthy return were you to place a 10 dollar bet against those odds (you would probably hear the snickers as the bookie put you on speaker phone for everyone to hear as he asked you to repeat it). Lebo and our Tigers have their work cut out for them to make the tourney…..but who among us would think they would be this close 3 weeks ago.
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
It could go...
…..a number of ways. Auburn has won the past few by putting the ball in the basket. It amazed me how we can be one of the top teams in FG percentage, and be abysmal at the free throw line. Right now, we’ve got an inside-outside shooting tandem going on. Teams can’t double both Waller and Barber. If one or the other goes cold, teams figure it out quickly.
…..The key is really Barber. The game is geared to either shoot the 3, or take it to the rack. Barber is good at doing medium-range pull-up jumpers, and modern players aren’t really coached on how to defend that. And Auburn has a NASTY press. Lebo’s put together an excellent strategy package. Somehow, some way, if he keeps his job, he’s got to get guys to practice a LOT of free throws this offseason!
I really think that he keeps his job....
with an NIT bid. No inside information or anything just my gut feeling.

I agree
After paying Tubs $6 million to go away, along with the amount of money we’re paying the new football staff, financially it wouldn’t make much sense to get rid of Lebo right now, especially in this economy. We’ll see what transpires.

From my past...
experience as a collegiate basketball player, it is amazing how little free throws are practiced. With the time constraints that the NCAA puts on practice, most of the time the coaches expect players to practice free throws on their own. That does not happen in most cases.
IMO free throws are nothing other than concentration. If you are good enough to make a SEC team, you are a good enough shooter to make 68-75 of your free throws.
If you are a War Damn Eagle, you can War Damn anything.
You think if they were firing him they would learn how to time the fire to be most effective in the rehire from chizik debacle

Voice of Bullshit
is just too obsessed with AU and has to come comment on our blogs about BASKETBALL to make himself feel better.
What do an Auburn fan and a bammer have in common? (Neither of them ever attended that school in tuscaloosa).
