Slow News Day
Nothing to report on today, something tells me that it will be this way for a while. I am sure that most of you have seen this. Let me say that during my recruitment for basketball years ago, if any school would have pulled up in that or this. I would have just about died from embarrassment. How ridiculous is this? Wow. I could see Kiffykins (Kiffin) pulling this crap, but Chizik? Ok enough of me blowing this out of proportion... it seems like the recruits are loving it. Although the coaches cannot talk to the players themselves, it appears that they entire school knows that Auburn has shown up. Really? I am shocked that this is working.
On another note, being in
Did anyone see the AJC on Tuesday? It appears they are really tanking quickly. They are trying to make it look more like the USA Today. Not only that, but it was tiny. The Dallas New Era is bigger. Not the

I was really suprised to see
Mr. Moore’s final column wasn’t some race baiting diatribe about the lack of black people taking buyouts at the AJC.
If you want to see how beloved Terrence Moore was by his readers, read the comments following his final article.

I don’t feel so bad for the state of the newpaper industry. The ajc had to change and personally, I like the new format. Please tell me you didn’t like the 2 page color ads with Tony Curtis trying to sell fake teeth.
AJC & recruiting follow up
Sadly, the new “format” looks more like a free paper (closer to the Sunday Times) than the former. I also agree wholeheartedly with the USA Today comment.
With respect to the limo comment, I disagree and am glad to see coaches undertaking some positive “attention grabbing” approaches to recruiting. Per the several articles I read, the limos created quite the buzz among coaches and students at each of the schools visited in Mobile and that seems to be one of the main factors involved (along with a not-so-subtle shot across the tahd’s bow… which is always fine with me).

Auburn recruiting is one of the headlines on the ESPN.com page. I don’t really see it as negative press.
I’m not really into the recruiting dork aspect of college football but I would assume if folks are talking about your recruiting on a national level…is it really bad press?
I’m going to go on record with predicting the Auburn coaches roll up on Lake Martin in a hovercraft later today.
Which is....
Always fine with me too RT !
I wanted to amen you on the 29th but I’ve had problems getting comments to open. But I’m with you brother.

I guess some of my coworkers are going to have to start taking their iPhones/Crackberries into the john with them.
That reminds me of one of my favorite stories from Tiger Stadium. I’m peeing in the stadium in one of the standard stadium troughs. The guy next to me is plastered and talking on his cell phone as he is relieving himself. Next thing I hear is a big CLANK! Yup, his phone went for a swim in the pee pool, so he reaches down to grab it. Horrified at what is about to happen I quickly hold him back and say, “WHOA WHOA WHOA buddy, just let it go man, it’s not worth it, it’s just too risky”.
So let this be a lesson to us all… Don’t turn a little oops into a big oops. When your reading your iPhone on the toilet and you drop it in, just let it go, because man it’s gone.
Depends
on what else is in the toilet with the phone

I don't care what else is in the toilet....
it is what has been in the toilet that trumps all. Don’t be that guy.
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
I agree the limo
is gross as hell. If it helps get somebody to commit great, but it is still bushleague and I doubt it will work.

Now he has to get......
a hovercraft.
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
I would fare to guess
that the use of the limos is more of an attention getter or lightning rod that is being used to get/keep a spotlight on the program during a period which is usaully boring and relatively un-newsworthy.
I say kudos to the coaching staff for the creativity that they’ve employed.
It’s almost always better to have your program being talked about trather han ignored.
WDE!
I'm in......
I’ll supply the whiskey and strippers if you cover the cost of the Limo and gas.

You could probably BUY the limo...
for what I normally spend on the hookers and booze!
Wow. Did I say hookers?

It's working...
Guys, whether you like this or not, it’s working. I’ll say this, seven assistant coaches really sends a powerful message coming out of a limo and they are all together. I hate to make this comparison, but it reminds me of the wrestling shows with the guys getting out of the limo coming into the arean. That also grabs people’s attention.
Why do I say it works? I just looked at ESPN.com, and it has Auburn as making the most headlines in recruiting and actually leading the way. No, just because of the limo but because of three of the nation’s top running backs have Auburn University in the lead for their committment. I say if this is working go for it. Plus, maybe it’s because I’m younger but I love it!! I think this will only help Auburn honestly. Stop being so old school folks. It is younger kids we’re going after isn’t it?
