‘When you build a house and you make it hurricane-proof by putting certain kinds of windows in it, and use cement instead of stick construction and all that kind of stuff, you’re getting prepared for what? A hurricane that may or may never every come." ’We’re going to have 12 hurricanes next year, we know they’re coming.’

Where's Jay?

After that article this morning i would think that he would atleast acknowledge the fact that we picked up a nice commitment. Then again i suppose that Jeremy was there this weekend.

Gossiping... and what it brings you.

I have noticed there are a few conspiracy theories on your blogs about Red Charger and Red Elephants and escalades….yada yada yada….
My line of work was with a mining company called Rio Tinto, I married one of the heiresses to the RZR corporation and I am currently retired and have been on holiday for about 3 years…. just trying to see and enjoy the world.
I have made numerous contacts through business and other functions. And I have had the pleasure of working side by side with several Auburn men (all of whom think the whole Gadsden conspiracy / Red Dog thing is an embarrassment to the University that they love.)
But anyway, what I wanted to post is the following. Take it for what it is worth.
A very good friend of mine in Gadsden (as a matter of fact) is a member of the Jerrell Harris family. According to him Jerrell Harris had visited Bama in December and then visited the plains on January. Sometime on the Sunday following the Auburn visit JH was approached by an Auburn booster and insinuations were made about special favors that he would recieve for his signature. The booster arranged a date to meet with JH’s family that afternoon.
JH’s mother is very smart about strangers bearing gifts (She is by all accounts a very clever and wise person indeed). And for her own protection carried a micro recorder with her to the meeting. The booster offerred to match any offer that JH had and said he would “sweeten the pot” An offer was made of $20,000 dollars was made just to get JH to say that Auburn was his front runner. JH’s mom, said she needed a few days to think about it and said he would get his answer on signing day.
In spite of the money, both Hariis and his family thought he would lose his eligibilty (after a concerned phone call to another SEC Coach. No, it wasnt Saban….) So they decided to go to Bama or Miss St. as neither school had made them an offer. Mind you , The Harris Family can provide reciepts and paperwork for every major purchase in thier lives. Including the gift JH’s mother bought him for graduating and going to college. Meanwhile the Auburn booster thought that he had lost a bidding war for Harris. He made vieled threats that he would make sure Harris never played a game. But Ma Harris informed him that she had him on tape and the best thing he could do was “go the hell on” .
After that the rumors started to surface from some Auburn “Fans” who “knew” someone on the inside and “knew” that Bama had violated NCAA rules.
Since then, recruiting for Auburn in that region has become a tip toe though a mine field.
Coaches do not want the “drama” of being dragged throught the dirt and sullied just because some of thier kids might choose another college so they avoid Auburn recruiters (if they can)
Last signing day, 2 prospects chose Bama over Auburn because they both knew the story behind JH/The Auburn booster. And they wanted to avoid the same problems JH had experienced. Oddly enough, soon rumors where soon being spread about them through the blogs.
And almost everytime a new highly rated prospect commits to UA The rumors resurface. This is despicable.
And it will hurt Auburn badly for several years to come. EVERYWHERE they recruit.
Alot of people want to avoid this type of trouble like a plague.

When I Ran That Through My DeCoder Ring

it said “Drink Your Ovaltine” . These guys sound like they all have more money than good sense. I will send them an address for orphanages in Jamaica and Africa or a school in Guatemala that needs the help. Or just donate the money to the general scholarship fund of either University instead.

I always thought of Corky and Logan as being in the closet.
