Tebow or McCoy?

Hey guys, I'm conducting a little study, and I was wondering if you guys would contribute your opinions. I was wondering, if your team was down 4 with 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter, in the championship game, who would you want under center, Tim Tebow or Colt McCoy? Keep in mind there is no "neither" option, so please stick to those two. I am just trying to see what people from different parts of the country think. Thanks a bunch.

McCoy's a good one, but...

……When you’ve basically got Larry Czonka who can throw…. Yeah, I’m probably a biased redneck, but still!

You did say you want to win, right?

Colt is good, but Tebow would run over his mother and his grandmother…and her walker to score the winning touchdown in the MNC game. No question. I HATE the gators but you have to respect Tebow. The guy is as committed as anybody I’ve ever seen play the game.
Sorry Colt. It will be interesting to see if he gets a vote.

On what day did the Lord create Bear Bryant and couldn't he have rested on that day too?

Tim Tebow

Only two things come out of Texas and Colt McCoy ain’t got horns. Tebow runs over folks in the SEC. Easy answer.

Maybe....

its just me but Colt McCoy was the leading Rusher for his team last year and he did direct a lot of Last minute drives….I could be wrong but I don’t think Tebow has been in that type of situation before….so my vote goes for Colt…

OK.....

I’ll say it. Its just you, you’re wrong, and he has many many more times than McCoy.

lol!

How many times have the florida gators have to come from behind to win a football game on the last drive? I’d bet not as much as Colt did last yr…..Colt is more experienced in this field….I’m not saying Tebow isn’t a great quarterback, but he hasn’t been put in many situations like that….

No College football player in my lifetime of 44 years....

has ever been more integral to the success of their team than Tebow (and I am a true Gator Hater, nothing worse than gold plated necklaces and jorts). Show me another college football player that is capable of carrying a team on his back to victory than Tebow……you can’t do it. Did you even see the come from behind performance in last years SEC Championship game? You have to be either a Longhorn homer or just another Big12 guy screaming that his conference is better when no one is listening much less agreeing.

i'm actually

a really big Auburn/SEC Fan who agrees that although tebow is a great qb, he does not have a lot of experience in 4th quarter with 2 minutes left on the clock comebacks….Where as i am not a big fan of the Big 12 or Texas i have a lot of respect for Colt McCoy because he brought his team back time after time last yr to win games with the exception of the Texas Tech game which he did lead his team on a late 4th quarter touchdown but the defense couldn’t hold….I repeat i have never seen tebow orchestrate a drive with 2 mins left on the clock to win a game…primarily because of how good florida usually is…but in any case i’ll take experience over Tebow…..

Your opinion....

and its your right to have it……I just think its wrong and thats my opinion.

akinsoa has a point

until the SEC championship game last season, Tebow had never brought his team back from a game where the gators trailed in the 4th quarter. I would still take Tebow because he is a beast and it is almost a lock you will convert a 4th and short if needed. But it is a very close call.

I would take McCoy over Sam Bradford.

I cannot see how it's an argument.

I would take Tim Tebow without thinking twice. I cannot think of anyone who carries a team like he does. It’s amazing and his attitude is awesome along with it. I’m actually not a Gator hater. In fact, after Auburn, they’ve always been my second favorite team followed closely by Virginia. Don’t ask why because I really don’t know myself. Penn State is also a love of mine because of old Joe PA.
Anyhow, McCoy if nothing else is overrated. Tebow should win the Heisman again this year. I honestly can say I’ve never seen a better college quarterback. His leadership is unreal as well. By the way, the fact that he hasn’t been down often is not a case against him. It just means he’s been doing his job the whole game already. As far as the SEC championship goes, you had the feeling he was about to take over at any point which in fact he did.

by Sparkey on Aug 18, 2009 2:10 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

how

is McCoy overrated? he’s started for texas since he was a freshman….Last year he was the only playmaker on his team…He had no supporting cast like Tebow did….and he strongarmed his team to a 12-1 record….me personally, i thought colt should have won the heisman, and i hope he wins it this yr….I’ve always thought Tebow was overrated and i’d bet come the NFL draft it will show how overrated he really is….in fact i bet Colt McCoy goes higher than Tebow….

by akinsoa on Aug 19, 2009 7:11 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Again....

I agree that McCoy has the chance to go higher in the draft than Tebow at least at this point. McCoy is more of a prototypical NFL QB than Tebow. However, that does not make him a better college QB than Tebow. You also seem to want to discount Tebows abilities because of his supporting cast….that is flawed at best. The NFL draft does not show how over-rated a player is or is not in the college game……are you going to argue that Dameyune Craig was a bad college QB because he wasn’t NFL material? Ludicrous. As far as a player not only being the leader of the entire team but being able to will a team to victory through attitude and actions…..i.e., put the team on his back and carry them to victory….I will say it again I have never seen anyone even remotely close to Tebow. And before you say that its the hype that I follow……I am a beer and whiskey drinking liberal agnostic who could give a rats ass about his beliefs or convictions and a good day for me is when the gators lose (unless its an OOC game or their win helps AU). Also, to say that McCoy doesn’t have the supporting cast is a bit of a stretch…..if there is one thing for certain it is that Texas is “Always Loaded” with talent.

How is McCoy not overrated?

And, Tebow has two national championships the last time I checked…

Why Tim Tebow

do you need anything more than THIS?

Tebow.

All the way. McCoy gets the traditionally weaker defenses to throw against and couldn’t run it half as well as Tebow on his best day. Tebow is a better leader, athlete, etc. McCoy will get drafted high and probably flame out in the NFL when he’s got a receiving core that doesn’t have more athleticism to a man than the defense he’s lining up against. I’ve seen it happen too many times. Don’t be surprised is Bradford is a bust too.

i was w/ you to a point

Bradford will not be a bust in the NFL. That guy can play. Even in OK’s bowl losses the last two years, he has been very good.

Tebow is awesome and McCoy isn’t nearly as good. I also agree that Colt could easily flame out in the NFL. But Bradford will be very good in the NFL.

ESPN

funny enough this same question was asked during sports center this morning….and McCoy was the qb chosen for such a question….This comment also came after they predicted that tebow would probably win another Heisman this yr…so they agree that tebow is a great qb just like i said, but that in such a delicate situation they would pick mccoy for the same reasons i did….

by akinsoa on Aug 28, 2009 8:21 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

The Heisman goes to the best....

College football player and that is why Tebow should win it this year and why he probably should have won it last year as well.

No

The yr Tebow won the Heisman, he was deserving of it because he lead his team in Rushing and Passing…Last yr was not the same case…In fact if u look at his numbers from the yr he won the Heisman and last yr…he’s numbers had decreased (Rushing yards and Passing yards)….If has another season like his Sophomore yr then I would say he deserves it this yr…But my bet is that McCoy carries his team again this yr and will also be very deserving of the Heisman and i hope he wins it….

by akinsoa on Aug 28, 2009 10:29 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Stats don't and shouldn't always win the heisman....

and while I agree that McCoy is a very good college QB he is not the best college football player. Tebow is the arguably best College football player EVER…..not just in one single year but of all time….and that includes last year and this year. And I still say that McCoy and Bradford for that matter benefit from playing in a conference with weak defense and that McCoys “numbers” would not be so inflated if Texas had to play a real defense each week.

If UF only loses one game...

Tebow will win the Heisman again this year. He will be the second person to win two Heisman trophies. He should have won it last year as well. But, that’s just my opinion. If I had to choose between the two in ANY situation, it would be Tim Tebow.
