Week Two, at Jordan Hare!
War Eagle, everybody! It's another great football Saturday in the South! Here's hoping that the showers and storms hold off for the game. A mix of clouds and sun could make for a spectacular sunset at Jordan Hare Stadium, particularly if you're in the east stands! If it rains, which team does it hurt the most? The magnificent Pat Dye field turf won't be terribly affected by rain, but the question of handling a wet ball will definitely come up. Chris Todd threw decently with a wet ball last year against Southern Miss, which gives hope. But the Tigers let 4 balls (Tate, Fannin, Adams and Trott) hit the turf last week, when it was dry. I'd be willing to bet that this excellent Auburn coaching staff spent some extra preparation time this week, on ball security!
Be sure to sound off today and tonight, here on Track Em Tigers! We'll be watching football all day, soaking in another great college football weekend! Track 'em, Tigers, just like beagles! Give 'em HELL, you war damn eagles!

War Eagle everyone !
A big SEC win today goes a long way. We still need proof of concept on Gus’s offense vs SEC competition.

Two huge, HUGE...
…..upsets in the making, right now! Michigan St. is facing a game winning FG attempt, from Central Michigan. Wisconsin is in OT against Fresno State, locked up at 31-all, after one OT period.
And the Spartans...
…..go down. Central Michigan hits a 42 yard field goal with just seconds on the clock, to take a 29-27 victory!
They line 'em up...
……and Fresno has no timeouts. The kick, is good. Wisconsin survives, 34-31. The Big Ten hangs on. Tough start for the Big Ten, and I suspect that it will get tougher tonight, in Columbus, with the big USC/Ohio State showdown!
No pressure on Ohio St...
it’s hard to get respect as part of the Big Ten. Well at least Northwestern pulled off a win.

Holy cow
I just saw Houstan 24, OK st 7…poor Georgia.
by Tiger on the mountain on Sep 12, 2009 4:07 PM CDT reply actions
They have relied...
…..UGA has, on a questionable 5th year senior QB, rather than recruiting well and relying on the incoming superstar. This has been true in areas besides quarterback. And now, there’s an incredibly tall mountain to climb, for the Bulldogs. Tuscaloosa excepted, it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving bunch!
…..Although, I hated to see an SEC team lose to the Big 12, regardless of the circumstances…
End of 3rd, Houstan 24, OK St 28.
I guess that is what is most perplexing about Georgia..questionable decisions from coaches, yet do we hear many cries for Richt’s head?? It is like they are all satisfied with ‘being close’ but not quite enough for a stellar season. Maybe I don’t hear the screaming being where I am. I am forced to watch the Dixie St v Montana St game on ABC, instead of Michigan, Notre Dame. Although the Tenn UCLA game is quite entertaining.

Bynes dropped back into the middle,
……and Relf had to burn one. Apparently had a quick strike over the middle planned. GREAT strategy by Roof and Chizik!
State will again face 3rd and 8
…..Relf will go empty in the backfield. Now pulls one back to help, QB draw, and Relf is MUTILATED, by Bynes and co. several yards short!
1st down, near midfield!
…..Another shotgun, Eric Smith at wingback. Todd…Cranks it deep, underthrown, should have been intercepted. Mitchell had it, and dropped it. Zachary there, may have ripped it out.
2nd and 10.
…..Todd will set ’em. Draw to McCalebb for 2. Good push by the line, but McPhee fired in for the stopp.
3rd and8
. Todd… will play fake, deep outside for Fannin, incomplete. WAY over thrown. Flag, and it’s holding. Decline. Pugh.
2nd and 4.
……Auburn MOWED down, on that one. Relf takes it, and goes to Dixon, loses a yard, Herring blows it up!
3rd and 6!
…..Relf will have to drop to the shotgun. 2 back protection. Option, and Ducre got just enough for the first down, at the 12.
3rd and 8
…..Auburn will go Tampa-2. Then ZOne blitz! Picked off by Coleman! TOUCHDOWNNNNNNNNNNNNNN Auburn!
I am almost speachless...
I can’t believe this is our Auburn Tigers..after the season last year!

by Tiger on the mountain on Sep 12, 2009 6:44 PM CDT reply actions
Upon further review...
…..that was an absolutely horrible throw by Chris Relf. Coleman was nowhere NEAR any MSU player. The pressure caused it, I guess. That’s a bad mistake by the Bulldogs.
Byrum...
…..Hull to the endzone, Berry BURIED at the 16, and nearly lost the ball. Eric Smith with a BIG hit!
They are going to give MSU
…..the 17. Lee will give to Dixon, on the crossbuck off tackle, will make the 24.
2nd and 3
…..Shotgun Bulldogs. Dixon, got out on the zone play. Got 27, run out by Etheridge after a 27-yard gain.
2nd and 8
…..Lee in the shotgun. Play fake, rolls right, might have gotten one, but Ricks grabbed the facemask.
SC first and goal again....
recovered a UGA fumble on the kick-off after the TD
by Tiger on the mountain on Sep 12, 2009 6:48 PM CDT reply actions
At the Auburn 32.
…..Bulldogs will go shotgun. Lee checks off, clock under 10, sprint option, Elliot BURIED, by Craig Stevens, for a 4 yard loss!
Whoa we have open-field tackles this season too????
by Tiger on the mountain on Sep 12, 2009 6:49 PM CDT reply actions
Stevens...
…..has never done it before, but this year, he had 1.5 tackles for loss last week, and a great play this week, too!
So far,
……it looks like pot-luck gun-slanger ball for the Bulldogs, and a relentless Auburn attack that MSU doesn’t have a handle on. Barring a meltdown, Auburn rolls in this one!
The shamecocks have to settle for a FG
17-7, gamecocks in a very unhappy Athens…yes, still in the 1st quarter.

Oh, there's a mistake.
mmmmCcrae, will shake loose on the hitch, and Demond Washington goes for the pick, and misses.
4th and goal
…..State goes with Dixon on the quick hitter, and Auburn isn’t ready. Touchdown, Bulldogs.

1st and goal...
…..at the 20. 1 back set. Slip screen short side to Berry, Thorpe runs him out after a good block at the 15.
Lee back in.
…..2nd and goal from the 15. Tripps left. Lee on the short dump at the 13, Stevens brings Green down at the 13!
3rd and goal
….from the AU 13! 4 man front, empty backfield. Lee….fires over the middle, tipped at the line, incomplete, Jake Ricks!
FG unit in...
……Brachle hits it, and it is good. The Auburn lead is cut to 14-10, with 7:20 left in the half.
Time for the Auburn offense...
…..to get it rolling. Can’t have any more drops. Coleman jogged off under his own power, after than one. I think he got winded, diving for the possible interception. He dropped back in coverage.
Brief dishwashing break...
……and we’ve got a 3rd and 1, McCalebb hammers on the quick give option for the 1st!
We're seeing a lot...
…..of the short side Franklin handoff, for nothing, this drive. Illegal procedure will make it 2nd and 20.

Lining em up.
…..They meercat to the sideline. Speed option to McCaleb, juking it back in, GONE! 48 YARDS! TOUCHDOWNNNNNN Auburn!
Here goes Hull....
…to the goal line, Berry runs over about 8 Auburn guys to the 30, but there’s a flag.
The call...
……it’s holding on MSU. Backs ’em up to the 15. Tripps left, Bubble screen to Berry, got 11.
Yeah,
…..I went off the radio guys, there’s actually 1:47 left. 3rd and 8 for MSU. They called a timeout.
Lee with a huge 3rd and 8.
…..THree wide. Man blitz, Dixon on the draw, got 7. Auburn calls timeout with 1:35.
Punt formation...
…..QUick snap, beats the rush, and Demond Washington fair-catches at the 23. 1:29 left. Auburn has one timeout left.
Todd in the shotgun.
…..Play action, hit, sails it over Fannin’s head. Todd was crushed on the naked bootleg. MSU was NOT fooled.
3rd and 6.
…..Shotgun. 3 man front. Todd changes the play. Safety blitz, to Darvin Adams, at the MSU 47! 22 yards, first down!

Todd's been deadly...
……finding guys in the seams of that Bulldog zone. McCalebb has really hurt ‘em on the counters, too. The more we keep him on the bench, the more waste there is. Kid can even pass block. Adams has been the man, as a receiver. Has a couple of drops, but he’s just killing the MSU zone. They’ve got no answer. They are doubling Zachary, but Adams is the one killing them. I’d expect an adjustment, if I know former Bama D-coordinator Carl Torbush.
……I’m almost certain MSU will abandon that 3 man front. They’ve been getting killed on it. They are trying to run guys up, but Auburn blockers like Fannin and Trott are cutting legs out right and left. MSU will HAVE to go to a 4 or 5 man front, I’d think.
Checking the Yella wood scoreboard....
……Lane Kiffy-kins’ scoreboard avalanche was halted, this week, as the Vols go down to UCLA, at home, 19-15. I wondered how that offense would do, against a BCS team. And UCLA had a freshman QB, in that one.
Crompton...
…..was 13 of 26, with no TDs, and 3 picks. Only 93 passing yards. UT managed 115 on the ground. The vaunted Monte Kiffen D held UCLA to only 186 total yards, but with 4 Vol turnovers, it wasn’t enough. It’s another SEC black eye, folks.
I'm not sure....
…..I believe those halftime stats, but it seems that Auburn has rung up 315 YARDS, in the first half! Adams has over a hundred, receiving! The staff was looking to cool Onterrio McCalebb off, but he’s leading all rushers this game, with 10 carries for 77 yards and a HUGE 2nd quarter TD on a 48 yard run!
Auburn will kick it off,
…..with Morgan Hull. Hull, to the 1. Berry is hard to get down, stood up, and cracked sideways by Chris Humphries, at the 24.
1st and 10 Bulldogs
….With Lee in the shotgun. Now under center, dive play to Dixon, for 5. Bynes and Bates holding on.
2nd and 5.
…..Lee, 4 of 6 on the evening, will go with twin backs in the shotgun, hands to Dixon for two, looks like motion.
2nd and long.
…..Lee will go from the shotgun, 2 backs, 3 wide. slip screen, flag, and it’s blown dead again.
2nd and 15
…..Clock running in the 3rd quarter. Lee will deal to Dixon, short side, gets to the 26. Brings up 3rd and 9.
Shotgun again...
…..Lee with one in the backfield. 4 man rush, quick hitch, McFadden clobbers mcRae at the 32, 4th down!
UGA barely survives the 1st half 31-23

Punt team in,
…..Wow. Demond Washington takes the punt, and Fannin, trying to block, runs Washington over. Auburn will start at the about the 32.
Or, the 18.
……Who ARE these Auburn radio network spotters? McCalebb gets 11 yards on the short side, then Tate barrels up to the 45, another first down!
Checking off.
2 back shotgun. Todd hit, sailed it over the head of Fannin. Punt team will come in. didn’t pick up the zone blitz, that time.
Not good.
…..Todd will play fake, with all kinds of time, misses Fannin, nearly picked off. Damien Anderson with a drop for MSU.
This could be a special year boy and girls !
This is the most exciting football I have ever seen at Auburn, Not to the best team but darn sure fun to watch
Durst has had...
…..a rough outing, with only a 36 yard average. Got banged up, on the block, too. I’m not sure what the benefit of this odd punt formation we’re using, this year. It seems to open lanes in the middle. I guess it’s supposed to help on coverage, but we might get Durst killed…
2 back
….shotgun, for State. Fake, fumble, or is it? They’re going to call that a forward pass, incomplete.
I am excited about this team
This O is such a dynamic change from last year, this Freshman back could be really special. I like the commitment to the run with a twist
MSU with one back
…..Auburn with a lot in the box, Relf runs into Freeman and Coleman, short by a half yard!
Whew!
I love these Tigers, but they make you pay! :)

Hate to say it, but
…..our punt return team has been awful, this year. We really might be better off going with an 11-man rush, and letting it go. SO many mishandled things back there…
I'm glad y'all...
…..are enjoying the thread. It’s been a fast paced game, such that I am having trouble keeping up. State is trying to hurry up, too. We’re not getting that Al Borges 0.000001 seconds left on the clock snap, anymore!
It is frustrating,
players that normally make awesome plays, suddenly fumble, can’t block, etc. I hope this is one aspect that we can see some improvement on through out the year.

Odd formation...
….Washington takes it, splits a couple of guys, and gets about 10. AGAIN the ball came out late, but I think they had blown it dead. Whew!
We'll meercat to the sideline again...
…..Todd play fakes, rolls WIDE open to Wisner on the sideline, to the MSU 36! WOW!
MSU whoofed up to the line...
…..looked weary, and Tate was through ’em, before they could come up out of their stance. Wow.
Hull to kick.
……This thing has gotten out of hand quickly! Squbber, mishandled, Berry will break a ton of tackles, to the 42. Terrible tackling.
You'd think...
…..MSU would try to settle these guys, during the break. MSU’s offense and defense look to be in total disarray. MSU’s best chance was against Auburn’s special teams, but other than a punt-block TD, they’ve been unable to capitalize. Auburn’s front seven is containing the run pretty well, and MSU’s outside receivers have been BLANKETED by McFadden and Thorpe.
…..We might well have the best starting corner pair in the SEC!
What a great 3rd quarter
for AUBURN. Terrible for MSU. I can’t watch the game where I’m at but seems like we aren’t having to use too many crazy plays to get yards. Stay with the run if it works.

3rd and long.
…..Relf in the shotgun. Empty backfield. Watch the draw. no, screen, Bumphis, close to the first down.
New set of downs for state.
……Berry is WIDE open on the short side, dragged AU tacklers for 32 yards 1st and goal at the 3.
1st and goal.
…..2 back shotgun. Keeper, hit, got a half yard, Antonio Coleman, Josh Bynes, stopped.
That cuts the tiger lead.......
…..to 42-23. PAT up and good, 42-24, with 11:15 to go in the game. Good drive by the Bulldogs, maybe a little complacency by the Tigers.
Let's hope...
…..Auburn’s kick return team can handle this kickoff. Fannin dances, bangs out to the 25.
Clock under 10 minutes.
…..Todd and co. meercat to the sideline, speed option to Tate, across midfield, to the 48, first down!

Byrum true again,
…..And Auburn leads, 49-24, with 5:56 left in the game. How ‘bout Terrell Zachary, hauling in an air-ball from Todd, to set up the last TD? No one we’ve had since Frank Sanders, would have caught that ball in heavy traffic! War Eagle!

5:48 left.
…..Relf zings a pass downfield, WAY deep coverage for Auburn, 24 yard pickup. Forget what I said about an easy six.

…..As Tiger fan, you’ve GOT to be happy. Tate and McCalebb both went over 100 rushing again, Fannin had 77, Darvin Adams had over 100 receiving, and Kodi Burns accounted for 4 TDs. Is it possible to spread it around any better?

I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
Are you kidding me????
What a great game!!!! I would love to see the D play a little tighter but when you score 49…hey you can slack a little.
It was great to see how we responded when we lost the lead but came roaring back. I can’t say enough about Gus and the offense. Geno and Gus are doing EXACTLY what they said they would do and that is run the ball with power and play the pass off of that. I really don’t think MSU has that bad of a defense but our offense is genuinely scary. We have got weapons and we ARE USING THEM!!! That is so exciting!!
And for those of you who did not see the game, one little bit of history…..Tate and McCalebb are the first two running backs in Auburn HISTORY to go for 100 yards a piece two weeks in a row. Hard to believe but true.
Bring on WVU!!!! I know I said I thought we could have a special offense this year but I don’t know that I really believed it until now. RIght now I think we can play with anybody, so lets get it on and see what happens!!
On what day did the Lord create Bear Bryant and couldn't he have rested on that day too?
