I had hoped for the top 25,
…..but apparently blowouts over La Tech and Mississippi State don’t impress national voters. No biggie. We need to stay humble, and have a great effort against a talented West Virginia squad!
We haven't slammed Alabama in at least a week...
but after their performance Saturday, I’m not so sure they’re #4 in the country. They won’t get another test until Arky in 2 weeks or Ole Miss in 4. Two top 5’s in consecutive weeks go down. Could this be 2007 all over again?
LSU is a real shaky #7 as well. Thought they would have handled Vandy a little harder than they did.
WVU is ranked ahead of us in the AP poll, so if we beat them, we know we’re moving on up!

Well, you have to consider
Our best wide out was on the sideline
Our two leading rushers was dinged up, with limited play
So we throw the ball to other people and throw in our true freshman RB
And we still racked up 500 yds
That’s called dept my man
They only scored 1 offensive touchdown with the other coming off special teams (ARRGGHHH AGAIN!) so I’m pretty happy overall
(Your Team Here) sucks

what more is necessary?
Gee, bama had 18 of 24 completions with no interceptions.
Once again over 500 yards of offense while allowing FI 1 yard of rushing..
And considering the 3rd string was on the field about to score when the game ended and everyone got some game time in, And Bama STILL scored 40 points It wasnt too bad of a win.
I suppose Bama could have kept the starting team in and ran up the score.
Kudos for FI for preping well for thier first game of the year.
Don't misinterpret this as vitriol....
but Bama struggled with FIU in the first half when it should have had the game pretty much put away by the end of the first Qtr…..at least thats my opinion of how a top 5 program handles a cupcake at home. Now if I were a Bama fan I wouldn’t be panicking but I would be raising an eyebrow at the perfomance and it certainly wasn’t a performance to crow about. But that being said they did turn it on in the second half and had the water boy suited up early in the 4th Qtr…..and with another cupcake as bad as FIU up next Bama has the opportunity to work out some more kinks. And I will state it again for any new trolls……..I want Bama to win em all except for the Iron Bowl, it makes the state look better and it makes AU look better to beat a good team rather than a team like Bama’s ’04 team (that hurt our strength of schedule as much as the Citadel).
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
You were pretty unmotivated, played with no intensity
Your own coach said so. He was rather disgusted as he should have been. Not a top #4 performance. I thought it was interesting to see Nick Saban blame the performance of the team on their motivation. Last time I checked that was the coaches job to get the team up…
and I dont know if I agree with no test till Arky, sometimes the greatest challenge is the one you overlook and Saban has a thing about dropping one he should win. (last year is an exception…no wait, I think ya’ll were favored over Utah?)
He must have been worried about this as well, thus the blaming of the team for not listening to him. I guess he can’t help it if they don’t listen. Maybe they will now.
I'd say that if you are right...
and the team played with no motivation or intensity, yet both offense and defense produced like they did, I’d love to see what they could do against an opponent they could get up for…….AU perhaps?
You were playing Florida International
If your #4 then your waterboys should have put up those numbers :)
To my knowledge,
Bobby Bouche (sp?) does not currently suit up in crimson, but I’ll address the point anyway. A few key reminders: Greg McElroy did not attempt a single pass in the last 1/3 of the game….Julio Jones played for appx 1 quarter….Mark Ingram was pulled in the 2nd half…..5 true freshmen saw almost an entire quarter of play after not having played a single down of college football….the leading rusher in both attempts and yards was a true freshman….and as stated before, the FIU rushing attack was limited to one, single yard
Bottom line: was it a perfect performance from a #4 team? Definitely not….But I think any reasonable fan would expect a fairly solid win after a marquis victory on a national stage against another top-ranked opponent the week before…ESPECIALLY after the key skill players played less than half the game…..I would highly doubt you see much different of a story next week against UNT, and until we get to play our first SEC opponent in Arkansas the week after, I can’t see a top-tier team like alabama running up the score on anyone anytime soon
Who cares?
Alabama still won the game convincingly. Only an Aubarn (AL) fan would claim a 40-14 Daddy Alabama victory over a “cupcake” opponent automatically makes us overrated. Remember, this time last year we struggled against Tulane, after dominating Clemson (the team they struggled against in 2007) and Aubarn (AL) still looked flawless against two homecoming-caliber opponents.
I guess Texas shouldn’t be ranked in the top 5 as well considering they were only up 13-10 over Wyoming. Nor should LSU be ranked in the top 15 after struggling with Washington. Their inferiority complex only allows them to pinpoint Alabama’s flaws, rather than any other teams.
As the weeks pan out, the bride’s maids will tone down on their Alabama cries.
After spending seven wondrous years in the state of Alabama, never in my life have I seen fans, who claim to be loyal to one team, spend more time AUbsessing over the other more so than they do their very own.

Your signature is kinda Ironic.....
considering how you are on an AU blog apparently AUbsessing as well.
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
Notre Dame getting more votes than Auburn
Not saying we necessarily deserve to be ranked, but I guarantee that if AU and ND played tomorrow, Auburn would win, and probably by 15+ points.

I say we handle ND easily right now.
I’m just saying. Our defense hits too hard (like many SEC defenses) and I think our offense could provide enough spark to run away from them in the 2nd half of that game. You know, if there was an AU/ND game.
War Eagle
If the shamecocks hadn't blown the end of the game...
I think that AU would be ranked this week. Maybe. My point is that while our wins are impressive, without some help from some upsets in the top 25, we didn’t really have shot this week. That said, if we play WVU and handle them…okay, massacre them, we should get our props.

coaches
i know its early in the year, but weve done worlds better than last year already. and to think with bama having to forfeit the 07 games ,that means coach chiz has now tied the 4 million dollar man for first year wins (saban 2and 6) but id like to know how you guys feel about auburn not tring to keep our coaches at auburn. im sure after all the laughter bama gave us for our staff, and finding out how good they are saban will be tring to steal them from us and you know that money is no option to them. we really need to offer them more years to make them feel like they are appreciated
Our coaches are good and we'll reward them well enough when they earn it...
There will be people coming after our coaches. It’s a compliment.
Actually we were 2-0 last year and I am very interested to see our performance this Saturday
Having said that, we are a much more complete team this year with a better coaching staff that racks up points showing no mercy and makes adjustments…somethng that was’nt happening last year. Last year, I held my breath when we gained a lead, this year I anticipate the next wild off the wall score we’re going to make. It’s very fun to watch. There’s a big difference between last year and this year as is apparant when you compare scores. Last year we got a W, this year we creamed MSU.
Yeah Dixi....
its how you finish. And while we’re on the subject how did Bama finish its season last year?
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
are you talking about...
the 36-0 blowout that we finished the regular season with to complete our 12-0 record, or the hard fought championship games that we were so fortunate to play in but came up a bit short in? I guess next you are going to give me a story about how it was better to be blown out by your rival and stay at home than go to the Sugar Bowl and lose. Moron.
No I'm not referring to the admitted blowout.....
of the shell of an AU team that was there by the end of the season but rather the embarrassing loss that Bama had against Utah in the Sugar Bowl. Asstard.
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
Don't be a jerk about it.
It was just a statement of how early the season is. There is no telling what will happen to Bama or to AU over the next several weeks. AU is clicking on offense, something that hardly happened last year; however, the defense is staying on the field a good bit with the quickness of the drives and the constant hurry-up approach. Is that a potential problem in games with more adept and complete teams? Can AU (or Bama or any team for that matter) avoid the injury bug without quality depth at key positions?
That’s why I say, “it’s not how you start; it’s how you finish…”
Hmmmm....
Was I being the jerk? No I think not. I certainly didn’t intend to in any case…..what I actually meant was that “if you are gonna come over here and spew vitriol you can expect it back” but then some Bammer had to call me a moron and throw out 36-0 and I had to turn green and shred my clothes with my radiation induced metamorphed muscles………
and as too your question about avoiding the injury bug without quality depth at keyu positions…..what do you think Bama did last year?
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
we were
4 -0 after the TN game. Then the wheels fell off

bamadixi
yeah you guys should know about how to finish
dduurrrhhh...
Quality post, sir! I learned a lot from that. You truly know College Football inside and out Mr. Wizard. You truly are the reason why Liberal Arts professors use turnitin.com to combat plagiarism…..Yeah, we were close to finishing off Florida last year but failed to do so in the 4th quarter, and we were asleep and thoroughly beaten by a sound, precise Utah. I’m so glad you got that out of the way, so now we can talk about the present. Why do you live in the past tigersince84? ;)
Liberal Arts professors.......
do they still deliver pizzas on the side after they get their PhD or is that something only the B.A. degreed individual does?
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
Im sure thats when he was born or graduated
I dont think its a meant as a suggestion of living in the past. Also i would like to add. The “sound, precise” utah team exploited your weakness and with a hurried up offense wore down a better Alabama team. To put it simply saban was out coached. I dont think it was the fans faults at all.
