Auburn Uni's 2010
I certainly don't want to be the guy who beats the 'new uniform' dead horse, but alas I'll start one more post about this. I've heard mumblings that Under Armour will attempt to release a new uniform that will compete or 'match' the Nike Pro Combat uni that Flroida, LSU, VT, and others wore. Do you think AU would get one of these 'upgrades'?
I also heard from a few posters on here and other AU sites this past season navy blue pants were considered? I'd just like to get you guys/gals opinions on this. I'm a fan of change but too much could be a bad thing. I also don't like the idea of pulling out a new uni in a big game. I don't like the gimmicky factor of it.
Anyway, just figured I'd float this out there, its the offseason and a little down before signing day so I figured I'd get some kind of discussion going.
Thanks and War Eagle!

Auburn Uniforms
are perfect the way they are. I am totally against any significant changes. I think we have some of the best looking Unis in college football, so why change?
I'm with you on this one GusBus.

keep it simple
i like the traditional unis. i like penn state, alabama, notre dame, etc… that keep it traditional and simple. auburn doesn’t need that kind of publicity or look how hip we are attitude. we have tradition to build on, not to cancel out and start a new. i hope to keep it old school. i’m still trying to stomach the tiger eyes/eye of the tiger, damn survivor. change the offense, change the defense, change the coaches, players, water boys. change the stadium (bigger). change the “eyes”, but let the simplistic unis stay the same. it is the footprint of the past. leave those changes for the cheesy schools. i’m sure usc will change soon. all black? or black with white stripes?
Haha, good one.
I had to ask this, its a ‘I know a guy who knows a guy’ kind of thing, and he had heard that Under Armour was considering this. I don’t think it would neccessarily(sp) change the traditional look of our uniforms, it would be slight differences.
and speaking of new and old logos and such. I want the older eagle flying through the A look will come back. That’s my favorite AU logo of all time. Wish they would bring it back to more prominence.

I like our Uni's but then again I'm an old, conservative white dude.
When we first did the black shoes, black socks thing I thought it was a little weird but after awhile it became normal and cool looking. It’s kind of up to the players within reason.

Do what we do. Wear what we’ve always worn.
Although I wouldn’t mind going back to the old tear-aways of the Joe Cribbs era. Even if they are now illegal.
Let's think about the possibilities...
Navy Shirt + White Pants = Classic.
Navy Shirt + Navy Pants = Other than possible camoufmlageness…..
Navy Shirt + Orange Pants = Anti-Camouflage.
Orange Shirt + White Pants = After the game the players can direct traffic around town.
Orange Shirt + Orange Pants = Syracuse.
White Shirt + White Pants = Away games, or Florida when there feeling special.
Unless we have any more ideas, I’ll stick with the classics.
I like the way they are
I wouldn’t mind seeing an alternate every now and then, but only if they can come up with some nice ideas. Just a few minor changes, I wouldn’t want to see all orange or anything like that. I wouldn’t want the team to wear it too often either. I like the look we have now, simple and nice. I hope we never end up having uniforms as crazy as Oregon’s.
I could see....
…..blue pants on the road with white shirts. I’m against blue shirt/blue pants. I have yet to see a team that looks good entirely in the same color on both shirts and pants. For one thing, the uni-manufacturers can’t seem to really get the two to match! There usually is a shade of difference, and it’s distracting.
…..Orange should remain a trim element. I just can’t go orange pants. And orange jerseys will forever be remembered as a Barfield gimmick.
No
goddamn blue pants.

I was at Athens for the Blackout....
and I never laughed so hard watcing those morons get all wound up over black jerseys.
“What are you gonna do if we come out in black jerseys?”, they said. “Hopefully show you how stupid you are to think black jerseys are going to intimidate a team that almost won in Death Valley” I responded.
Of all the sports, College football THRIVES on its traditions. Desecrating our uniforms for any purpose is not acceptable. From head to toe, we have the best looking niforms in the SEC, you don’t mess with that. For a game against LA Monroe or somebody irrelevant, you can throw out a gimmick jersey or pants but I NEVER want to see us stoop to that against a rival. Jordan Hare and the Blue and White should remind all our rivals “You are in for a fight!!”
On what day did the Lord create Bear Bryant and couldn't he have rested on that day too?
LEAVE OUR UNIS ALONE.
Auburn has some of the best looking unis out there. We all know what they say,,,,,,if it aint broke, leave it alone.
WAR EAGLE
NOT THE UNI'S...Maybe the shoes.
Do Not Change the Uni’s, they are the best Uni’s in ll of football and they carry much tradition. But, I really liked the throwback white shoes in the Outback bowl, looked petty awesome.
All for keeping the classic look
But I really did like the throwback uniforms that we wore in 07 against Vandy. I think it was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the nat. championship squad. But it was almost all white. The helmets were all white and reminded me of Penn State’s helmets. But the uniforms weren’t used as a gimmick against a rival, and they looked classy as hell, which are my two biggest reasons for not wanting a regular alternate uniform.
From what I've heard...
From someone over in fashion merchandising or something weird like that, Under Armour tends to use Auburn as a testing ground for certain products. There certainly could be some credibility to this.
Nothing upsets AU fans more
than suggesting something about the uniform is going to change. We are sort of the anti-Georgia in that respect as they seem to have become the Oregon of the SEC. Keep it the way it is. One second spent worrying about what we are going to wear is one second too many spent not thinking about what is important….WINNING. War Eagle.
our unis
i like them the way they are. if any changes are made,i think maybe an orange facemask or orange chin strap. what do you guys think about the numbers on the helmets instead of the au.long ago we used numbers but it may look to bama ish.orange gloves with the au in the palm would look good also

Not so fast...
Orange gloves could be cool idea, face mask…maybe a bit much. But no touchy the helmets, they look great with the AU logo. Plus, our helmets should look Nothing like Bama’s(You know they’d start something stupid about us copying them anyway…)
I'll veto the hell out of any long term/permanent changes right now
Auburn ‘s uniforms have received national recognition as being some of the best looking uniforms in the nation. I wouldn’t object to a rare 1 game change in the uniform for the right reason(s) such as honoring our armed services or fallen players or coaches. Otherwise, leave em alone.
Change In Uniforms
I like the uniforms exactly the way they are. The only change that I think is necessary is the change back to white socks and shoes, especially the socks. I loved seeing this in the Outback Bowl. The black socks were introduced in the modern era by Miami (enough said). I don’t like them at all.
In a stuation like this, I could tolerate navy pants: Homecoming against a weak oppoenent or just a weak opponent in general. We should wear white jerseys and blue pants combo. Never, Never, Never wear the same color pants and jerseys except for white! And never change the uniform before a big SEC oppenent. That could be laughable.
If Auburn added a Hockey Team...
Then you could experiment with different unis. Fans would get a kick out of different style jerseys to wear.
LEAVE THE FOOTBALL JERSEYS ALONE!!!!!!!!!
Except for the white socks and shoes. I did like the look of the Outback Bowl change on our team

Crap!
If we start changing the uniforms, the next thing you people will want is to start wearing all orange into the stadium…

Haha
The posts are great. Like I said above, I don’t think the uni’s will change much if this Under Armour thing comes to pass. I just figured it was something to think about.
Making the jersey orange and making it look right would be difficult to do. I’m a fan of trying but I know I’m in the minority.
Also, I don’t like the idea of permanently changing the uniform ever. But swapping the colors around couldn’t be all bad.
My fave uniform I ever saw was when we played Vandy at home and wore all white with the plain white helmets, that was a sick look in my opinion, very simple, and very classy looking.

I'm not
a huge fan of the blue pants, but the helmet is a nice touch.
I've seen good TEAMS beat teams with great individuals.
Helmet = AUwesome
Pants…yeah, I’m not leaping at them as much…..always hard having the same color shirt and pants.
