Heisman
That’s about as close to a Heisman as that guy ever got. Well, except maybe 1971 when Sullivan was under-achieving.
I can’t wait to open the Cam of whoop-ass next week! War Eagle!
If you're trying to be a smartass...
At least get your facts straight. Bryant had a Heisman winner at Texas A&M, giving him just as many as any Auburn coach…

Thanks
for the correction. I didn’t think about the TA&M time because I could care less about the Aggies. And I guess TA&M didn’t care enough about the Bahr to erect a statue in his image…or maybe UAT cares too much about a mere mortal. You know he’s dead, right?
So I assume there are no
statues at Auburn of dead individuals. Great comeback. I am quite aware of the Bear’s demise but thanks.

And are you to say
that IF Auburn ever had a coach with 6 AP Championships you guys wouldn’t have erected a statue of him?

Living Legends
You know, I don’t recall any statues of people at Auburn, dead or alive. Maybe there’s a bust of an important educator or scientist or astronaut in the library. Things may have changed, though. I haven’t really been back to Auburn in almost a decade seeing strange places and people.
There’s a pretty awesome sculpture of a flying eagle outside the stadium. Maybe UAT could get a sculpture of a cresting red wave. Yeah, that would rule!
One thing I am sure of is that Auburn does not have any statues of living people to immortalize them in greater-than-life-size. Of course with Little Nicky, that’s not hard to do. Is it in his contract that he can take the statue with him when he leaves for Dallas?
BRING ON BAMA!!!
I can’t wait for this game!!! Kirk Herbstriet (yawn) actually picked Bama over Auburn today. His reasoning is that Auburn is not the same team on the road as they are at home. Fine points, Herbie BUT NOT SO FAST! This Auburn team is playing inspired football. We all know that Bama will not roll over. This is a very talented Bama team. But this Auburn team keeps finding ways to win and they will NOT be denied. I expect this game to be close, but I also expect the Tigers to come out with a hard fought Win.
War Eagle! Beat Bama!

Classless...
Let me be the first Auburn person on here to denounce that act as classless. Now first of all, I’m not sure I agree with statues of sports figures anyway, but once it’s there you obviously know it’s extremely important to that fan base. I find that statues of someone is at least close to idolatry and it is a dangerous road to travel.
Putting a jersey on a statue is not something that makes me proud to be an Auburn fan. I think this is tasteless and classless and it is not what Auburn is about. They will already be motivated enough, we don’t need to add that much fuel to the fire. Look, it’s just a wise decision. I bet Chizik would not condone this action at all.
This will be Auburn’s toughest challenge of the year. We are playing the defending champion in their own stadium where they have won twenty games in a row. We do not need crap like this making it that much harder. On the up side of things, everybody else is picking against Auburn making us the underdog. Though, the favorite usually does when the Iron Bowl, but that’s generally because it’s the better team with both teams playing at a high level. I am not convinced that Alabama is better than Auburn this year.

It is cheap
they should have done it to the statue of Saban instead.
An Auburn victory in Tuscaloosa, a SEC championship AND a national championship are defintely NOT part of 'The Process'.
by War Eagle Atlanta on Nov 20, 2010 3:17 PM CST up reply actions
I think
it’s just a couple of college kids fooling around. It’s not like some tried to pull it out or paint it. Nothing was harmed except the electrons flying around the internet.
Putting it on Saban would have been more appropriate, but they should have gotten an XXXL to actually put it on him and forgo the duct tape.
Classless my ass....
c’mon sparkey where is your sense of humor…..hell I would have painted the damn thing orange and blue.
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
Todd92...
I like you! As I was reading Sparkey’s reply, I was thinking the same d@mn thing! :)
"The spirit of the Auburn family is a magical, mystical thing. It defies explanation. It transcends wins and losses on a football field. It imprints itself on your character and can never be extinguished. Being an Auburn fan defines part of who and what you are..."

I don't see a problem with it...
Now if they vandalized the statue that’s totally different. They should be put in jail. But this was all in fun. I’m guessing it was a few college kids. If it offends Alabama fans, they need to lighten up. It’s like the video I posted a few months back with the kid that was crying because he didn’t want to go into the Auburn store. I thought that was hilarious.
It's funny!
Classless would have been to lay the statue on it’s side and draped Fairley’ jersey over it…no wait that could be fuuny too.
As long as no lasting damage was done to his Holliness, then its all fun and games. We are getting their best shot with or without Cam’s jersey.

you're comparing the person who taped the shirt to Collette
that’s kinda harsh on whoever did this
I’m just saying they’re not very resourceful and unable to get an ACTUAL jersey and a better way to hang it
you’re comparing them to a drunk driving bat shit crazy person
that’s just mean

AU contraire, DUI breath, it's you that's being juxtaposed with the Lady Connell (and you know it)
P.S. Now that those 2 guys with the detergent boxes and toilet tissue are gone, Miss Connell is the face of UAT football. That’s Bammer!

I think she's kinda cute
I’d just have to duct tape her mouth.

oh look, juxtaposed
someone is teaching you guys new words
oh our players and fans are criminals! Original. I notice your not making jokes about NCAA violations or sanctions. I wonder why that is?

Well we have had our run ins with the NCAA
not as many times as Auburn, but yea we’ve had our share of corrupt boosters and what have you.
gotta love the conversations between two notorious cheaters about who cheats the most, thank god for the Iron Bowl
But one thing you can say about Alabama is that we never advertised ourselves with some hokey “family” brand name just to find out that our prized quarterback was basically pimped out by his own father
AU Family indeed

Run ins? What part of 'Death-Penalty' don't you understand, Wally?
Sorry, but there’s no moral equivalence here.
UAT did the capital crime, UAT was up for the capital punishment. The grim reaper was at the door.
You were what we thought you were and they let you off the hook.

so after all that
and all the punishment they laid down on us we were still able to win yet another National Championship before Auburn was able to
one year “death is at the door” then the next we’re in Pasadena celebrating a BCS National Championship
I think maybe Auburn is cursed, if you don’t pull it off this year y’all are getting close to Cubs status

Ah yes, you must be winding down now, Wally, because out comes the trusty "Bammer wins yet another National Championship" card.
Count me among those who believe that any legitimate organized sport league/association that determines the winner of head-to-head competitions by seeing which competitor has the most points in an ‘objective’ scoring system … will, if they want to declare a legitimate ‘champion’, determine the league’s champion on the field of play … and, not by “voting on it” in any way.
Sorry, but any and all MNCs you bammers claim for UAT have been ‘awarded’ in some way, but not ‘won.’
would comparing SEC titles make you more comfortable?
You know, that league your team has been a part of since 1933. So the league you joined 77 years ago, how many times have you guys managed to win that? Is this something you would consider as “won” cause we’ve done that 22 times.
I mean I don’t respect what Georgia presents as a “winning tradition” and even they’ve gotten to double digits. What was Auburn’s number again?
I know comparing accomplishments makes you Auburn folk feel queasy so maybe we should put those pesky statistics away and just focus on insulting each other as people

As far as the SEC football championships go, yes Bama won those. I never said they didn’t. You never said they did.
REF : “Insulting each other as people”
WW-4, you come here quite a bit, and you’re a guy who seems to read what other people have to say, so you may be aware that you’re one of the few bammers who come in here that don’t get ridiculed in one way or another. Or, at least, that’s true as far as I can remember.
Maybe you’re confusing the T’ET blog with your experience at Egan’s.
when I'm at Egan's
I earn every insult I receive
and I suggest you guys come by the establishment, despite the buttons at Auburns expense visiting fans are welcomed
the team versus team banter is always light hearted with the people looking for drunk confrontation directed elsewhere

i dont know dude
Even if I did have the balls to attempt this on enemy turf, I’d also have the brains to get in and get out as fast (duct tape) and cheap (t shirt) as possible.

i've always wanted a couple players from each side to get miked up in the Iron Bowl
i’m hoping the future 3D biz will look to splice in some “commentary” throughout the game from a few players/cocahes on each side.
the players in this game know what is at stake… i don’t buy the notion that this IB is any less important to each side than any other. there has never been an issue of motivation as far as i could tell. both teams are just a bit more equipped to kill each other…that is all.
wappa
They used to kind of do that...
…..on the old CSS replay of the Iron Bowl. Cole Cubelic did the Auburn side, as I recall. They’ve been running a replay of the Auburn game at 5:00 PM on Sunday for years. Makes for great watching in the kitchen while getting Sunday supper together!
…..Andy Burchram and Cole have been replaced since ESPN got the big SEC TV contract. CSS still does the rebroadcast, but it’s just an edited version of the actual game broadcast. In other words, some weeks you have to listen to Bob Davie TWICE…
Also,
…..The Birmingham CBS affiliate WIAT usually has all-day-long Iron Bowl coverage, starting at the crack of dawn. All sorts of former players drop by and chat. It’s really fun!
ESPN Classic
Has been showing an IB marathon all day. They’re on the 2003 game now. I don’t know how many more they are going to show but it’s been great seeing some of the classics.
I look forward to our tune up for the SEC Championship Game
Do you remember that spelling bee you won in the first grade? Rock? "R-O-K"?
