No doubt...
TCU is good, I know they are. Give em their due. Good enough to go through an SEC schedule? I don’t know about that.

Gators need to keep climbing
SEC CG looks to be a storyline from hell.

I really want it to be the Gators
It would translate to we played all of the sec except the 2 worst teams
That's the good part...
The Phillip Marshall story from Friday implicated Urban as the story teller to the NY Times. Seems his friend wrote the piece.

Robert Smith
is like the most gigantic fool I’ve ever seen on t.v. TCU jumping from third to 1st? That’s retarted.

Way to go Hebie...
still talking about a late loss by Auburn

Yes, and that's the only thing that keeps TCU from jumping over us

Finally
a positive spin. I just do not understand why everyone assumes we are going to lose a game. UGA and uat have not shown they can match up with us
In their defense
Auburn isn’t exactly known for “closing” whether it be games or seasons or what have you.

The third party in Saban's love triangle...
Along with Finescum, Chris Fowler has Auburn third and TCU second.

Actually Fowler
i have watched Boise play three times and TCU play twice. They are good teams but no better than the top tier SEC teams
Oh, I agree.
No doubt both teams are good. I just have to wonder why an unemotional computer can see that strength of schedule, and these idiots can not.

with ESPN, and the hot air machine.

I am with you...
I really used to like ESPN, but now they have just taken on a holy war against Auburn. I am not sure what the problem is, but ESPN is fighting us every step of the way. If we do get there, it will be in spite of ESPN, not by their help. They just do not understand how to be neutral. They really seem to hate Auburn.
You guys thought about something...
With everything that happened in 2004 and the BCS screwing Auburn, does anyone else find it ironic that the BCS may in fact keep Auburn in the championship game when everyone else is pushing for TCU? Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t mean I like the BCS, I just think it might become one of the more ironic things ever to happen in college football.
Trust me...
I’m not saying Auburn was not screwed in 2004. I was one of very few who thought that Auburn should be given the vacated championship that year. To me, it makes more sense than leaving a blank there. I’m just saying that this time around, it’s the BCS that is keeping Auburn ahead. It is really different and strange to see.
no arguement....
I just vividly remember watching the beat down put on OU and knowing that would not have happened to us.
You and me both man...
I still hate both of those schools for what happened. I think Auburn would have beaten USC. That team just had a way about winning, even when it did not seem possible. That fourth and fifteen against LSU is what I remember the most. I think that is where Auburn showed it would never give in no matter how bad things looked.
They know how to win...
I think this 2010 has a much different feel about it, though. I guess with the way it was in 2004, we were kind of the ones left out, but this year everyone is making us out to be the bad. I think both teams have and had the capability of winning the really close ones. I just feel closer this year. I guess the only reason is that I know more about this team, but then again, it feels like as Auburn fan our school is taking on the entire country. It makes me love this team even more than I did.
Definitely..
Chizik has made a point to include the fans. He had my support from the start, but after the 87,000 game balls comment post WVU, he won my complete support, and admiration.

2004, we were left out because of our SOS...
This year some want to put TCU and Boise in over us when we have a stronger SOS by far. Go figure.
that strength of schedule was limited....
to our non conference opponents and was more a perseption of the human pollsters rather than the computer polls as I remember
best thing about this thread...
no bammers, and no grammar police…LOL

If we win out...
Our victories would include Arkansas, South Carolina, Mississippi State, LSU, Bama, and maybe Florida. All ranked teams. How could anybody say the SEC is down, or that anybody else has had a tougher schedule with those results?
Come and join me at http://trackemtigers.com
They will say that anyway
It’s down because it’s not one of the schools they love so much. Auburn is led by a coach that doesn’t talk much and he is few in number on news stories. He just mostly does his job, you do not see much else from Gene Chizik. They could have had Petrino or Spurrier, or Dan Mullen or Saban or Meyer. Chizik?? They’re having to talk about him and how they were wrong on how well he would do after he was hired. They were calling Auburn the punchline of the SEC, Auburn just gets them angry in a few different angles.
Well folks...
I say win em all, and nobody can stop us from getting that shot.
Until next time..

We will see what happens with Auburn for the rest of the season. For now, I am happy and I hope we continue to improve each week. I love watching this team and I love how they keep winning no matter what is thrown in there that could cause trouble.
What I've been saying.
….Good link. You just don’t know HOW MAD I was Friday night. Hell, I’m still mad! Hatchet job.
I think there pretty much HAS...
….to be a little embarrassment in the sports journalism world about the Cam situation. Some folks didn’t do their homework…
…..The BCS is just a complicated set of rules set up beforehand to try and deal with the possible complications among college football’s top teams. They hope to put the top two teams in the nation together, AS LONG as it will keep the machine going and generate ratings. Remember that it’s about the ratings, really. Never expect anything about it to be about “truth and justice.”
……Everybody that votes in a poll has their own interests, balanced against what they want their image to be. Some voters are about finding the real champion, some are about pushing their own agenda. The ones who can’t tell the difference are the ones to really worry about.
……What we can hope for is Auburn to BEAT GEORGIA, BEAT BAMA, BEAT FLORIDA! We may get a shot at the crystal then, maybe not. Just win, baby. Just win, Tigers. That’s what I want! The nation will see it, or they won’t. War Eagle!
AGREED!
"The spirit of the Auburn family is a magical, mystical thing. It defies explanation. It transcends wins and losses on a football field. It imprints itself on your character and can never be extinguished. Being an Auburn fan defines part of who and what you are..."

This whole thing smells of bullshit!
Somebody somewhere has an agenda. They don’t care who they hurt, or they did what they had to, to hurt certain people.
The problem has not only been “runners” for certain sleazy agents, but unprofessional sports writers, being lazy, and not checking their sources.
If the sports writers are “in” with whomever has this agenda, then it changes all this to conspiracy.
I have never met the Newton family, so there is a sliver of doubt there, although the character of their son suggest that they would never do anything like this.
This ordeal is disheartening, and has made me mad too! I couldn’t even look at the goobs on ESPN tonight without getting miffed all over again.

I think the biggest things that were accomplished....
by whomever in this whole thing are:
1) The chances that Cam goes to the next level tripled. There is still a shot that he could come back, but it would only be because he isn’t projected in the first round of this year’s NFL draft. We play both MSU and Florida next season, and Cam not being around makes a big difference for and against us.
2) Auburn spent the last 4 days allaying doubts instead of solidifying our position with this season’s recruiting class. This is the biggie, because we do not see every day where we are with these guys in colo,r or black and white, like we do the football team on the field. This could end up being ammunition for an otherwise naive potential recruit or his family. However, if it comes out that Meyer was in fact behind this hoax, he is done in the SEC. Every team in the country, let alone the SEC, will crucify him in front of a potential recruits care givers over this. ‘Sure, he has a good relationship with your son now, but if things don’t go well, and your boy decided to move on, look what he is capable of…."
Hadn't even thought about the recruiting....
That’s why it’s better to keep your cool, when faced with adversity. Emotions will endanger your thought process.
Thanks for bring up the recruiting.

I take continuing education classes...
…..and one of the more valuable things I learned, and continue to reinforce is that YOU control how you react. No one can really make you mad. You should choose how you react. That philosophy makes dealing with problems and stress a WHOLE lot easier!
I find it interesting
That they waited until the BCS show switched to ESPNU to discuss the Heisman race. (Supposedly they poll actual voters, so I was curious to see how it would come back). Cam was #1 on nearly all ballots. They then proceeded to go on about how anyone who let the situation affect their vote should have their vote revoked.
Yes, ESPN. Wait until you go to the sports channel that fewer people are going to be viewing to actually do something decent.
