Haters come to grips with this....you're wrong and you have been all along.
Well ESPN couldn't help themselves could they?? They barely made a sweep across the Downtown Athletic Club before they are citing all the integrity and character clauses of the Heisman charter and talking about Cecil Newton deciding not to come to the ceremony. REALLY?? They needed to tell everybody that Cam's dad wasn't going to be there?? Did they bring that up last year for Mark Ingram??? Really, I don't know because I haven't watched a Heisman ceremony in probably 20 years. Of course they couldn't honor the moment and the award. They had to degrade the other finalists by continuing to insinuate that Cam shouldn't REALLY be there....and taking away the dignity from ALLLL the finalists. Nicely done ESPN...and nice plug for "Pony Excess" right after the Heisman ceremony....you know the story about how SMU got the death penalty for paying players? Hey ESPN, we get the point already..... why don't you just start up another channel so you can run Newton/Auburn slander 24 hours a day and quit beating around the bush. The lies have been told so many times that everyone believes it , so why not just make it daily programming and feed red meat to the haters.
Sorry, I had to vent...but the one question I have to ask all you people that think Cam is getting away with murder is this. Name me one athlete that has egregiously violated NCAA bylaws (to the extent you all think he has) and NOT had the hammer dropped on him by the NCAA? Give yourself a minute....it'll come to you. Lets see, it was uhhh....its on the tip of my tongue....uuuhhhhh.
Can't think of one? Neither can I.
The reason the NCAA didn't nail Cam to the cross is that Kenny Rogers....and probably MSU....instigated the pay for play.
Here is what they said...
"According to facts of the case agreed upon by Auburn University and the NCAA enforcement staff, the student-athlete’s father and an owner of a scouting service worked together to actively market the student-athlete as a part of a pay-for-play scenario in return for Newton’s commitment to attend college and play football. NCAA rules (Bylaw 12.3.3) do not allow individuals or entities to represent a prospective student-athlete for compensation to a school for an athletic scholarship."
They "worked together to actively market" --- does that say solicitation??? No, it doesn't. The NCAA is not shy of calling a spade, a spade. They don't parse words. They say what they mean and mean what they say. They are not in the practice of saving a teams perfect season or a players magical jorney to the Heisman. They don't care. The bottom line is the facts don't back up Rogers story, and both Cecil and Auburn have been open and COOPERATIVE since January, ...again...since January....and some sources say Chizik had the NCAA's blessing to play before Cam even signed.
You have to be a REAL hater to look at what Auburn and Cecil have done to make things right BEFORE THIS STORY EVEN SAW THE LIGHT OF DAY, and still say that something fishy is going on. These are not the acts of people that have something to hide. It was a non-issue until reporters, looking for dirt on the Heisman front runner, decided to make it one. And bear in mind.....Auburn is STILL not being investigated. Does it merit being reported on, absolutely, but the only information in the case that has names associated with it has come SOLELY from Kenny Rogers. Thats it. No other information attributable to a person with a name is available. None. In the six weeks since the story broke, nobody has felt the need to come forward to put their name behind any info that would corroborate a word that Kenny Rogers says. That doesn't seem to bother the media at all. But everybody feels its ok to assume the worst about Cam, his father and Auburn, and trust the word of a guy that makes a living "selling" kids to schools. I'm sorry...who is REALLY being MYOPIC here? If all institutions acted with the clarity and openness of Auburn there would not nearly as many problems with the recruiting game as there are.
Hey, its all good though. I know it sucks to be the fan of an irrelevant team and watching another teams fans enjoying a season they will tell their Grandchildren about. I get it....I've been there all my life....but I also can say.... do what I did....move on....get a life ..... and quit trying to make everybody else miserable.
All I can say is this, have all the doubts you want .... get an ulcer from hate......I'm sleeping well....because the facts back me up, not you. You're wrong and you have been since the start.

Yes they brought up Ingrams dad every game and during the broadcast several times last year.
Roll Tide.
I remember being...
….disgusted by it. Half the show was that junk, which should have had no bearing on the award. What got me was the folks saying that Ingram didn’t deserve the Heisman. What? This is an elective award, and the Heisman panel is a pretty esteemed bunch of football people. Ingram and Cam were VOTED in, not cherry-picked.
Well that sucks....
I like Mark Ingram, he is a great player and a great kid, its a shame they had to tarnish his moment by dragging his father into it. I really think it takes away from the ceremony when they let these jackals denigrate one player for the sake of the media’s agenda to create artificial drama. Hopefully, Ingram didn’t mind his father being brought up, but I doubt they asked him his opinion.
Col.Angus may be rough, Col.Angus may not smell like a bed of roses, but deep down Col.Angus is very sweet. If I overstay my welcome, just tap me on the head!!
As some of our esteemed commentators have told me this week...
We as Auburn fans will have to develope thicker skins.
The Ingram case, and Cam’s plight are similar in that the sins of the father, hurt the sons.
Nice read Col.

Most people just want to know what the hell happened. That's all.

What happened is out there. The story is over. I believe that.
If you don’t, you can go on reading conspiracy theories and conjecture. It. Is. Over.
No, it's not over. If you honestly think that the NCAA is done looking at this...You're being a blind homer.

Nothing is ever over....
All someone has to do is plant the allegation that LaMichael James took money and they will be looking to investigate Oregon.
As I said, the NCAA is NOT INVESTIGATING AUBURN…..because there is no evidence that Auburn has done anything…even Kenny Rogers says Auburn wasn’t contacted …..which also just makes the Kenny Rogers/Cecil relationship questionable at best. If you are going to go around asking for money from Universitys, you are asking for big trouble to use a conduit/agent for each university. I mean, do you really want to have 3 or 4 guys running aroung saying they tried to broker a deal for you?? No, of course not. If Cecil did, and he was asking for money from everyone that was recruiting Cam, he was being very reckless. And when you are reckless you tend to leave a messy trail to be followed. So far, there is no messy trail….just a mess that begins and ends in Starkville. Could new information be forthcoming?….sure, but at this point, what are they waiting for. The NCAA is not going to be in a big hurry to contradict their own ruling. It could happen, but firm eveidence will need to come forward. I know all you haters are hoping that it will come forward…..but since you have neglected to really pay attention to what has happened here, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Dude, I'm not a hater. Newton's an incredible talent and a likeable guy. I WANT him to be innocent.
The facts around the case are just so muddled. It confuses all of us. I’ve been saying over on ATQ that we must treat his situation as if he’s innocent, so don’t say I’m crucifying him. I sincerely hope that he stays eligible and gets to keep his Heisman. Trust me. I’m just very confused with the whole deal, admittedly.

I have read quite a bit of TQA statements..
except for the occasional flame against Auburn in general or our defense, he has not said anything totally condemning Cam in any of his posts.
Plus the more we Auburn fans tell the facts, as they are right now, the better the situation will become from a public viewpoint.

Sorry, don't mean to single you out....
You just happen to voice some of the same things that Cam haters say. There are lots of folks hating on Auburn that don’t know whats going on and are buying the BS that is spoonfed to them by the media. Even though all the players, aside from Cecil, are from MSU, the insinuation is that Auburn is the bad guy. There are VERY real possiblilites that money was offered by MSU or their boosters but absolutely nobody is exploring that side of the story. I get the logical progression involved in regards to Auburn, but nobody cares to apply that same logic to the rest of whats gone on. People just want to hate on others having success and its frustrating when they spread lies and innuendo about your school. I’m sure you would feel the same way if they were saying these things about Oregon.
Col.Angus may be rough, Col.Angus may not smell like a bed of roses, but deep down Col.Angus is very sweet. If I overstay my welcome, just tap me on the head!!
Nice read, Col.
I too was frustrated with the ‘talk of Cam’s Dad’. I just kept thinking about how it made all of the finalists feel. What they did to Ingram, I also found disgusting. I remember distinctly during the Iron Bowl 2009, when one of the announcers (Verne, maybe) said, “And Mark Ingram’s father is watching this from prison”. I thought WTF?! What does that have to do with anything and how is it even relevant to the play on the field?? I guess they have decided that the Heisman would be just another boring awards ceremony without a little sexy sexy controversy. They are all idiots.
Anyone still hating on Cam (Mike Biachi—lookin’ at you, you big ass idiot!), are not paying attention to the facts as we know them. I doubt seriously that the NCAA would hurt their own integrity by reinstating a player that they had any doubt of his eligability. And for the last flippin’ time, This is NOT the Reggie Bush situation!!
Congrats to Cam! You ARE the best player in college football. Period!

I am a homer. And the NCAA can look at Auburn all they want. IT IS OVER as
far as Auburn is concerned. Mississippi State, I am not so sure. I have no contacts there at all.
You can believe that all you want, but I disagree.

Quack Troll, what I believe you're missing here, is the inability of anyone to
be able to completely defend themselves against “ANYTHING” which they did not do!
I do not have in my possession a video of me “NOT” committing
a violation yesterday or last month…..
So, if you, or anyone else, wants to say that I indeed committed a violation, there’s not
a lot I can do to prove otherwise once the alleged violation hits the media…..
I guess it’s fair to keep, endlessly, wondering whether or not I committed a violation and just when I am going to come clean. Or wondering when the investigators are going to find the evidence.
I don’t believe AU supporters are sensitive to investigators continuing to do their jobs….but at some point, you have to say that the pedulum has swung and move on.
Could it be a “technicality” that keep Cam eligible….Perhaps…ask MSU.
Sorry, sometimes you just don’t get the satisfaction you had so hoped for!
Hopefully, from where we sit, Auburn will beat the Ducks, and then you can immediately
shift the focus to how Auburn was the weakest team to ever win the MNC. etc. etc.
Enjoy your personal grassy knoll….
Troll? I've been nothing but nice since we've known that we were going to play Auburn.
I asked a legitimate question. I like this community, I wouldn’t troll you guys.

Then why do you keep bringing up a dead issue like the media does for sensationalism
Bottom Line: The NCAA has said the investigation is not over but that could mean MSU, not Auburn. Cam and Auburn have been cleared of any wrongdoing, Cams Dad is the only one mentioned as committing an infraction with MSU and Kenny Rogers, without the knowledge of Cam or Auburn.
You're not being an a-hole agreed....However I don't think that AU folks are all that
interested at this point in more idle speculation.
Initally, I think that the AU family was just as curious about what went on with MSU’s recruitment of CN as any fan of college football would be…..
BUT at some point, after enough dust settled, the AU family’s attention shifted to just what is being lost to us in this endless speculation.
I guess since the Reggie Bush violations took 5 years or so to be addressed that AU fans
should wait 5 years to celebrate this season? Is that what we’re being asked to do?
We can’t afford to do that; We aren’t going to get these moments back…..So we say, ALL IN.
I think you have a different definition of "troll" than most people
Do you remember that spelling bee you won in the first grade? Rock? "R-O-K"?
