not sure the bowl game was miserable. one of the most crazy and exciting games i’ve ever seen. i thought afterwards…there is so much there to take away going into 2010.
1. darvin adams showed serious maturity and growth through the season. he showed in the outback that he can make clutch catch after clutch catch and carry a team. we had some periods where the run game was slowed, or we just abandoned it…and he was our guy…this was clear. at times, he looked like he just couldn’t be guarded out there.
2. defense: depth, and depth…issues that were talked about all year long became so much more clear against an offense with a pulse/pace and medium range threat that challenged the LB and secondary over and over again each down…i thought the size of the receivers for northwestern really exposed a need for AU to find some size and physical players in the LB and secondary…(ironically,…i thought indy had the same problem matching up with NO in the superbowl this year…couldn’t match up with theTE, and big WR of NO)
i agree that AU was out of character on a couple plays…joyriding a bit,…prematurely celebrating…and this did surprise me…but to a certain degree, this is expected from the seniors playing in their last game. bowl games tend to have a different flair (air of flamboyancy) to them ….but in all i saw this as a hard fought game by both teams.
3. i thought we got to see a couple newbies make some plays…T’Sharvan Bell interception in the endzone(added another one later)…Quindarius Carr for a 46 yard touchdown
time out…got to go.
