What to do in Nashville?
I hope you guys don't mind, but I have a non-sports related topic for those of you familiar with the Nashville area. I will be in Nashville next week for business. I have not been there since I was kid. I will only have one day to really get out and visit different places. That being said, for any of you familiar with the area, if you only had one day to visit the city, what places would you choose to visit? I am a bit of a music junkie and a history buff. I have also heard that Nashville has a good science museum (Cumberland Science Museum?). Any input you guys may have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and have a great day.

Nashville
I have lived here for 44 years. I am not a huge music fan, but would suggest going to Country Music Hall of Fame downtown. Tootsie’s for late night live music entertainment right on Broadway.
There are ample Civil War sites you can find.
Would eat at South Street Smokehouse and Crab Shack near Vanderbilt, and if have at least 2 people dining, order crab and slab.
Check out
*Grimey’s (if you are a true music buff)
*Tootsies (small- but the history in that place is amazing)
*Wild Horse saloon (awesome bar and place to eat- suggest the fried pickles)
*The mall has an awesom aquarium restaurant(by grand ol Oprey hotel)
Grab a tourist guidebook- lots to do!

Grimey’s is awesome. I visit pretty much every time I drive through on my way to or from school.
The Cumberland Science Museum has been renamed I believe. Back when I was in elementary school we had year passes to it and Opryland. I remember thinking it when downhill some what when it changed names. But the last time I actually went, I was think was nearly 10 years ago.

Is Grimey’s a music store, a bar, or both? What kind of music do they play at Tootsies?

Music Store (that I've known of)
They will have bands come in and play from time to time. I believe they also have a connection to one of the bar/venue’s in town. I’d check the website http://www.grimeys.com/ to see what’s going on.

Suggestions
Hockey – Preds vs Oilers Tuesday, March 2nd
Preds vs Kings Thursday, March 4th
Sushi – Samurai (2209 Elliston Pl, Nashville, TN 37203) very Noms!
StingRay Reef – @ Opry Mills Mall, stingrays practically jump out of the water to get to the shrimp you feed them, pretty neat!
There’s always the Parthenon too.
Lived there for a year....
The Parthenon is cool….first job I did in Nashville was feeding a party inside the parthenon…right under the goddess Nike.
Bell Meade is cool also…nice gardens
The Hall of Fame is nice
Tootsies
Wildhorse saloon
and if you are into it…..Ken’s Gold Club at the intersection of 4th and Peabody is the best strip joint I have ever been to….lol
I've seen good TEAMS beat teams with great individuals.
Drive or walk down music row.
Imagine you are an aspiring singer or songwriter and this is your big chance to get a “deal.”
Picture your self walking up to each of those little houses with a guitar slung over your shoulder just trying to get heard. Pretty cool place.
Bluebird cafe for some aspiring and already big time talent. There are a bunch of showcase rooms where you will hear new artists trying to get a break or you may stumble on to a guy the you’ve never heard of playing only to find out that’s the guy that “wrote all Garth Brooks hits.”
Used to be a great Tower Records store across from Vandy (probably gone now) -walked in there once and Garth Brooks and Radney Foster where browsing the music together.
Also check out Gruhns guitars-legendary guitar store. Ernest Tubbs Record shop is cool also.
Great town.
