Ben Tate Impressive at the Combine
I was at home yesterday because workers were at the house, so I got to watch a bit of ESPN. Of course the talking heads did not talk about Ben Tate at all. But at least they had his info scrolling on the ticker. I was pretty impressed. His stats are below:
Speed 4.43 - finished 3rd behind Spiller and Best
Broad Jump 10’4" – Tops among RBs
Vertical 40.5" – Second behind Hardesty
Bench Press 26 reps - Tops among RBs
Cones – 6.91 finished 6th (about average and still ahead of Gerhart)
Shuttle 4.12 second among RBs behind McCluster
For some reason no one talked about him. I don’t get it. They are still calling him a late second to more than likely a third rounder. Oh well. Fight on Ben, and War Eagle

ESPN has never been...
… too big on giving much love to Auburn. Yet all we do is turn around and prove ourselves . We all know that Ben will be big time and soon the world will know what we know !

Would love for the Saints to steal him late in the 3rd round.
After we draft some DL, LB, or S help. Would be a great pickup. My only problem with Tate is that I remember him more for fumbles than big runs, with some NFL coaching though he may be able to stop that.
Yeah that fumble in the Outback Bowl was almost a back-breaker
You know what they call a quarter pounder with cheese in France?
He had a few fumbles for sure...
at the same time, he was given the ball an awful lot. I think his fumbles stuck out more because of how little he did fumble. Oh well, differences of opinions I suppose.
Agreed , also ...
… I think it might have been the point in the games when he did fumble that stick in people’s minds.

That's very true
I still remember the game y’all had against La Tech back in 2008. I think Tate had some fumbles then, too. That’s probably the only reason I even remember that one.

The game I specifically remember...
Was when Fannin and Tate basically handed the game to South Florida in 2007 with their fumbles.
That was Fannin, when he earned the nickname "Mario Fumblin"
Tate didn’t have any fumbles in that game

You mean La Monroe.....
we didn’t play La Tech in ’O8. We opened the season with the Yellow School Bus in 2008.
I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU
he's goign to be another solid player for sure. just can't understand why he's not getting the attention he deserves.
i was blown away by that crazy vertical, bench and speed results…
he really showed up for these drills.
here’s to hoping he’ll play for someone outside the NFC…so my BUCS won’t get run over by that monster…

He's
Going to have a good career. Has all the tools of a solid lead back.

Most
greats in the NFL are under-valued in the draft… only their fans going into it know their true value and potential.

The NFL draft sees relatively few RB's that go very high these days......
I think you may only see 2 or 3 in the first two rounds and I will be surprised if one of those isn’t Tate. Offensive and Defensive line have become the staple first round guys filling most of the top spots. On the other hand RB’s have such a short career and are typically in abundance compared to great lineman or even LB’s, DB’s, and WR’s. Either way Tate should prosper in the right offense….let’s just hope he goes somewhere where he can work his way into the lineup and shine.
