As Good A Story As It Gets
Good Friday to all of you. I have a short post on this holiday morning, but I think you are going to like it. Gumptown Tiger sent me this earlier in the week and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. With all the bad news we get in the media about college athletes, there are still lots of great kids who do wonderful things. Like I've said before, I'm always amazed at how these kids half my age continue to inspire me.
This story is as heartwarming as they get. It involves Auburn junior offensive lineman Kevin Carroll and his sister, Casey. You see, Casey has Down Syndrome and her family worried that she'd never fulfill her dream of attending her high school prom. That's where Kevin and Auburn tight-end Philip Lutzenkirchen enter the story. Not only did she have a date last weekend, she had two of them and one was a big time college athlete.
Instead of telling the whole story, I'll just let you click on the link here and read for yourself. If this doesn't make you love Auburn and its players, nothing will.
Happy Easter!

Wow, I should read the MDJ more often
All I can say is War Eagle men, War Eagle.
If you are a War Damn Eagle, you can War Damn anything.
Some may think I' m ...
… silly but I am not ashamed to say I could not read this without wiping tears from my eyes. It is not only heartwarming but really puts life in perspective and makes the things some of us take so seriously (ie. college sports) pale in comparison.
Thanks Gumptown Tiger and Jay for the post.

Thank you for sharing
To me, this is what separates “family” from “nation” – we take care of our own, rather than eating them.
Nicely done young men and I am glad to hear Casey got to enjoy her prom.
War Eagle!

All I’m sayin’.
Upon moving to AL, I let my wife decide who she would root for. After one day at a new job full of Bama fans, she met me at the door with a hearty cry of "WAR EAGLE"
