Auburn Baseball SEC Western Division Champions !

Ryan Jenkins is met at homeplate after his 3 run homer in Auburn's Championship win over Ole Miss.
John Pawlowski and his Auburn Tigers have done it, they have won the Western Division SEC Championship. The Tigers crushed the Ole Miss Rebels Friday night in Oxford 18 - 4. This is the team's first Championship since 1995 and it marks the first time since 2003 that Auburn will be going to the SEC Tournament in Hoover.
Ryan Jenkins led the hottest hitting team in college baseball with 4 hits, including a 3 run homerun, and two doubles. He hit his 3 run homer off a 3 - 0 count. This was particularly fitting for a guy that had to sit out last season with a broken hand. Three other Tigers hitting homeruns included Brian Fletcher, Kevin Patterson, and Dan Gamache. The Auburn offensive machine produced 20 hits against several Ole Miss pitchers. Auburn is 38 - 17 overall and 19 -10 in SEC league play. The19 league wins are the most ever in regular season play for Auburn.
When starter Cole Nelson began to struggle a little bit in the 4th inning, freshman Slade Smith came in to relieve him and went the distance to complete the win. Smith said " this is everything I dreamed of when I signed to play for Auburn ... It's great to see us finally at this level. "
The Tigers still have one game left to play Saturday against Ole Miss and then it's onto Hoover for the SEC Tournament. They will be seeded 2nd and will play at 9:30 am on Wednesday against either LSU or Alabama, depending on how those two teams finish up their seasons.
Coach John Pawlowski in his second year has brought his team from next to last place in 2009, to SEC Western Division Champions in 2010. He was humble in victory, remarking " The guys have worked hard, they deserve this. I' m just happy to be part of the program and honored to be here." Well Coach we are happy and honored that your with us too, and no matter how the rest of the season unfolds, you should be the SEC Coach of the Year ....hands down !

I voted yes..
I think anyone that turns around a program this quickly deserves some recognition.
Another good hire by Jay Jacobs as well. I wonder if there are any awards for best athletic director?

Jay Jacobs?
Thy dare not speak his name!
It’s not fashionable here. At least, not in a sentence that does not include pejoratives and/or ad hominem arguments.
Stay strong, Kool Papa Bell, but stay down!
This is great !
What a run the Tigers have made especially towards the last part of the season and what a job Pawlowski has done. I agree with KoolBell about Jacobs making another good hire.
Well, let's see now ...
1. Jacobs’ HIRE #1: Pawlowski. Good hire? CHECK.
2. Jacobs’ HIRE #2: Chizik. Good hire? CHECK.
3. Jacobs’ HIRE #3: Barbee. Good hire? CHECK.
Pawlowski was not another good hire … Pawlowski was Jacobs’ first good hire. But, who’s counting?
I don't want to sound rude and don't mean to be in any way...
but is that really a question? He has led the program to a Western Division title in only his second year after this same team missed the SEC Tourney for six straight years and was picked to finish 5th in the division this year. The other good teams in the conference such as Florida and South Carolina were expected to be where they are. According to the “experts”, yesterday was supposed to be our last game of the season. It would be an absolute disgrace if anybody other than Pawlowski won Coach of the Year. It just doesn’t even make sense.
Your not rude mspirate ...
… your right . It’s a poor question for a poll. I allowed my exuberance for our first baseball championship in 15 years to lead me to post it. I guess in the moment, I was looking to see how many were as excited about it as I am.

Not rude at all - but it was a good poll question.
The article did say Pawlowski was " The SEC Coach of the Year … hands down ! " So it should have been obvious to all that the question was rhetorical. Or in other words a question used for emphasis or effect. In such instances the expected answer is usually " yes " or " no " . For me it was a resounding yes !
I offer exibit 'A' as proof that it was indeed a GOOD poll question :
FLorida Coach Kevin O"Sullivan has been named SEC Coach of the Year : http://www.gainesville.com/article/20100525/ARTICLES/100529666/1136/sports?p=1&tc=pg
I am not a baseball enthusiast..
my passion runs for college football, always has, always will.
That said, I can and will be All-Auburn. I don’t care which sport it is, if Auburn wins, I am a happy man. If Auburn beats ’bama at anything, I am extremely happy.
WAR EAGLE!
