Where I Come From: My Most Memorable Auburn Moments

This post is sponsored by EA Sports NCAA Football 2011

Regardless of what kind of recreational drugs you've done in your past - and it's my hope that you've done none - it's doubtful that you've ever experienced a high quite like you have following a big Auburn win. Take a second and think back to those most magical of moments when Auburn made a play that solidified a big win. Think about how you felt.

Outside of the birth of your children there's never been a better feeling. When I say this, my wife always scolds me and asks about my wedding day. Had my wedding day felt as good as some of those wins, I would be on my fifth or sixth wedding by now, but I digress.

What are your top ten most memorable Auburn moments? What play or victory got you so excited that you thought your heart would explode inside your chest? What win made you feel that life couldn't get any better? Fortunately for Auburn fans, there's been plenty. Narrowing it down to 10 is nearly impossible.

Below are my ten. I'm sure I've missed some good ones. I hope you'll share your favorite moments with all of us. Here goes...

1. Bo Over The Top (1982) Bo Jackson crossing the goal line to give Auburn its first win over Alabama in a decade tops the list. I was living in Europe at the time and can remember sitting in my room on a Saturday night listening to Jim Fyffe and Pat Sullivan on Armed Forces Radio. I ran out into the foyer of our apartment building and screamed to the top of my lungs. My mother screamed back at me. I didn't care, It was the happiest moment of my life up until that point.

2. First Time Ever (1989) There was no single moment in this special day. The entire game was a surreal moment. Knocking off second-ranked Alabama in their first visit to Jordan-Hare Stadium was beyond special. Being a student, sitting in the Auburn student section made it all the more special.

3. "11-0, 11-0, 11-0" (1993) Sitting in Jordan-Hare Stadium the day Auburn clinched its first perfect season since 1957 with a win over Alabama was quite a moment. I can still hear Jim Fyffe screaming, "11-0, 11-0, 11-0" through my earphones. Most poignant was the sight of former Auburn coach Pat Dye joining current head coach Terry Bowden at the center of the field and exchanging hugs. Dye stepped down a year earlier and was responsible for most of the players on that field.

4. Courtney Taylor Touchdown Catch (2004) There have been big plays throughout Auburn's history, but perhaps the biggest was Auburn wide receiver Courtney Taylor's game winning catch against fifth-ranked LSU in 2004. Auburn missed the first extra point; but because of a penalty on the LSU defense, the Tigers got another shot and made good on it, giving Auburn a 10-9 win. The enormous victory helped send Auburn on its way to a perfect season.

5. Ed Scissum Fumble/Jared Holmes Kick (1997) If there was ever a game where a team grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory, this was it. With only seconds on the clock, all Alabama had to do was run the clock out by keeping the ball on the ground. Instead they chose to throw it - to Ed Scissum, who was hit by Martavius Houston and fumbled the ball on the Auburn 33 yard line. A few plays later, Jared Holmes kicked the game winner, giving Auburn an 18-17 improbable win over its dumb cross-state rivals. The goal post was carried out of the stadium by the Auburn students following the win.  I have a piece of it on my mantel to this day.

6. Al Del Greco Sugar Bowl Kick (1984) When Auburn kicker Al Del Greco hit a 19 yard field goal with seconds remaining to give the Tigers a 9-7 win over Michigan at the Sugar Bowl, it was a moment of ecstasy and relief. The magical run of 1983 was complete. Auburn was Sugar Bowl Champions! To make things even better, Miami was giving top-ranked Nebraska all it could handle down at the Orange Bowl. Even with the snub by voters, that January night in New Orleans will always be special. The lasting image of the game will always be Bo Jackson handing over his MVP trophy to senior Lionel James.

7. Reverse To Victory (1986) Auburn's final drive of the 1986 regular season will go down as one of the most memorable. With running back Brent Fullwood doing much of the heavy lifting, Lawyer Tillman took a handoff from Jeff Burger and scored from seven yards out with 32 seconds to play, to give Auburn a 21-17 win over Alabama. The call was intended for someone else. Nevertheless, Tillman never blinked and dove into the end zone for the win. The video of Dye and Pat Sullivan jumping up and down on the sidelines will forever be remembered.

8. Frank Sanders Catch Against Florida (1994) Riding a 17-game winning streak to Gainesville to face top-ranked Florida, few people gave Terry Bowden's sixth-ranked Tigers a chance at The Swamp. In a back-and-forth battle that raged on for 60 minutes, Frank Sanders catch in the corner of the end zone to give Auburn the lead for good will go down as one of the biggest plays in Auburn history.

9. Down Goes Florida (2001) Despite losing to the Gators twice in 2000, including the SEC Championship game, Auburn was not intimidated when Florida made a return visit the following season. The Gators came into Jordan-Hare Stadium ranked number one in the country and left there 23-20 losers to unranked Auburn. Damon Duvall delivered on a 44 yard field goal to seal the deal for the Tigers. It was perhaps the most unexpected victory in Auburn history.

10. Tebow Is Tamed (2007) Unranked Auburn went to The Swamp an afterthought in the minds of Gator fans. Sixty minutes later, Tim Tebow left with his second consecutive loss to Auburn. The defending national champions never found an answer for the Auburn offense. Wes Byrum famously kicked the winning field goal twice, defeating the Gators 20-17.

There they are... my ten most memorable Auburn football moments in order. Undoubtedly yours will be different. I was too young to remember Punt Bama Punt. It would have to rank at the very top for those of you old enough to remember.

How would you rank them? I hope you'll share with us.

My Top 10

1. 1982 – Bob Harris’s interception. Bo was magnificent, but it wasn’t until Harris
picked off Walter Lewis at the very end that we knew for sure that the Bear
                 was goin’ down.

2. 1983 – 2 in a row put an end to all those ‘blind squirrel finding a nut every 10 years’
                  jokes.

3. 1986 – The Reverse. First Iron Bowl I attended. Flipped Mike Shula the bird before
                  kickoff.

4. 1989 – I doubt more Bammers have ever cried following an Iron Bowl…

5. 1972 – I was in kindergarten, but still understood that something amazin’ had
happened. I’m a Miami Dolphin fan, too; good year.

6. 2002 – Iron Bowl. “They won’t even score, not on that defense”, said my Bammer
                 friends.

7. 2005 – Iron Bowl. HONK!

8. 2004 – Massacre at Rocky Top.

9. 1993 – Iron Bowl. Look who’s perfect now!

10. 2010 – Iron Bowl. Saban proves to be mortal, after all.

#10?

I think you meant to say 2011 Iron Bowl…..(I’m guessing you are trying to foresee an Auburn victory in the upcoming game)

(p.s.s. I can only assume that you wouldn’t have an Iron Bowl loss in your top 10 all-time favorite Auburn moments….which would indicate that one of the most thrilling moments in your life as an Auburn fan was almost beating the future National champs….Which [let’s face it] would be pretty sad)

My Most Memorable Auburn Moments

JC:

We are apparently from the same era (both students in ’89) and this is a great list. No doubt on those top 3.

I think the following are equally top 4-10 worthy…

2004 – Aromoshadu TD to put us up 16-0 on VT and all but guaranty 13-0!
2005 – Cox to Aromoshadu (w/ fumble recovery by Taylor) on 4th down vs UGA.

Richt's Poor Clock Management

At the time, AU stopping Jasper Sanks on the one yard line as time expired in the 2001 AU/UGA game made me as ecstatic as I’d ever been watching AU play.
If I remember correctly, we were coming off yet another humiliating loss to Arkansas, but were still in the driver’s seat in the SEC-W with only one loss, compared to UM’s two losses (one against us), and the rest of the division with three losses or more. Everyone had done the math. Win against UGA, and all we had to do was win ONE of the next two games against Bama and LSU and we were on our way to Atlanta.
All of that was hanging in the balance as UGA completed another pass on their come from behind drive to get down to the 1-yard line with plenty of time on the clock to try two passes. Instead, Richt called for a run, Sanks was stopped short, and time expired before UGA could run another play. The dream was still alive. Alas, it was not to be.

My top

1. I was a student at Alabama when Holmes Kicked that game winner. I remember being the only Auburn fan in a room full of bammers. Must have been 20 of them atleast. Giving me hell, of course. Talk about letting the air out. When Ed fumbled that ball the only sound in the room, besides me, was crickets and jaws hitting the floor. Needless to say when Jared kicked the game winner I was the only person left in the room. My own brother asked me to go home that night. I honked the horn all the way to my apartment, and wore an Auburn shirt to school that following monday. Got some rough looks but who beats up on a guy in a wheelchair?….Hehe.

2. Damn Duval’s kick into a HUGE cross wind. My buddy and I were sitting directly behind the goal posts in section 17. The student section, which made it even better. Damn kicked that ball wide right. Into the on-coming wind. I don’t think a major league pitcher could have put that much curve on the ball. Kenny and I watched that ball bend back and go through. Fans must have thought we were gay the way we were hugging. Hell Kenny almost pulled me out of my chair. It was the first time we ever sat in section 17. It would become the only place we would ever want to sit again.

3. My first Iron Bowl in 2005. Incredible! My girlfriend at the time asked her father, a big Auburn donor, if she could take me to the Iron Bowl game. I had never been to one before, and she wanted to change that. God bless her! I watched in amazement as we sacked Brodie 11 times to kill bama. It was a thing of beauty for sure. What a 1st!

4. 2004 season. Section 17 had become a main stay by then for Kenny and I. At the time season tickets were easier to come by and Kenny and I were foaming at the mouth each and every game we watched that season. Atleast after watching the LSU game. To which we got to see first hand the kick and re-kick happen right in front of us (God I love those seats). Got to see Rosegreen knockout Georgia’s Wideout Brown. You could tell he was out before he even hit the ground. Still got a picture of Brown sleeping on my fridge. So many memory’s from that year. Glad I could be apart of the crowd that year.

5. 1989 Iron Bowl. Watching my brother talk so much shit going into the game. As he usually did. Terribly arrogant bammer, and one of the reasons I became an Auburn fan as a young kid. Watching his heart break as Auburn worked over bama for the first time in Jordan-Hare was a memory I will always keep. He talked so much crap that day about how bama was gonna stomp Auburn and then go on to win its 12th National Championship. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t one of the many death threats Curry received….hehe. He sure hated me that night, the next day, really for the next couple of years….hehehe.

My Top 10

My list is going to mirror the ones before in some instances..I was a student from 92-95 AND marched in the band so I was blessed to see some good football (and some not so good).

1. 1989 Alabama comes to Auburn – I was up early that morning selling programs with my cousin before the game. We stood in front of Parker Hall and sold about 30 boxes in a little over 3 hours. We got in free for the game and stood on the upper deck ramps over the student section.

2. 1993 11-0 I was a sophmore in the band and when Bostic broke the long TD to seal it I was in the South endzone with a small pep band going around the stadium. I could NOT hear myself playing “War Eagle” for all the screaming and yelling…and man the hit Richardson put on Bostic was the hardest lick he took all year.

3. 1994 at the Swamp….We sat in front of the Florida scholorship donors seats..I got hit with mini’s all day and when Frank Sanders caught that pass..for a split second you could hear a collective gasp before the cheers…

4. Tillman, Tillman, Tillman….my first ever away game…

5. 1994 LSU at Auburn….Jamie Howard is still throwing INT’s in his sleep over this game…

6. 2004 LSU I live in the FL panhandle and we had just gotten hit by Hurricane Ivan. No power, no TV..luckily my Mother-in-Law had power so we drove to Mobile and got to watch it on TV.

7. Bo over the Top….I was only 8 but I remember seeing my Dad cry after that game he was so happy.

8. The afore mentioned Ed Scissum fumble and the FG to win…

9. 1993 Florida That game I knew we would not lose that season…back and forth those guys battled and refused to give up…

10. 1983 vs Southern Miss…why this game?? My first ever Auburn football game…

The 1994 LSU game...

and the Tillman! Tillman! Tillman! deserve mentions. I think the 87 Ga Tech game was Fyffe’s best call ever.

by Jay Coulter on Jul 9, 2010 7:13 PM CDT up reply actions

I'll keep it to 5

1. Campbell to Obomanu 47 yard TD vs. Tennessee in 2004 SECCG – That was the play that clinched it. The long TD to Devin was to my side of the field (20 rows up, dead center b/w the goalposts), but that was when we knew. I was alive for the 3 titles in the late 80s, but this was the first one I could truly experience.

2. Cox to Aromashodu, fumble recovery by Taylor vs UGA in 2005 – I was there, standing behind the band. We were packed in like sardines b/c everyone that had a seat on the row behind the sousaphones had to back up in order to see at all. That stadium was as loud as any I have ever heard before that play, but when Brandon let it fly, it went nearly silent. Seconds later, our small contingent erupted. That is still the greatest game I have ever seen. Neither team really deserved to lose that day.

3. Holmes from 39 yards vs UAT in 97 – The fumble was huge, but this actually made it happen. The tahd called back to back timeouts to try and ice Holmes. He didn’t care. I can still close my eyes and watch it go through from the same seat i’ve been in for most of my life (save the 4 years as a student).

4. Foot Lauderdale beats Florida twice – I was 5 rows up at the 38 yard line…which if you remember is pretty darn close to where that kick was made. On the first kick i wasn’t sure to celebrate. At first i couldn’t believe they didn’t call timeout. I kept telling myself of all the times this didn’t work that year. Still, the few moments seemed like an eternity. When he sent it through it touched off quite a night of celebration :)

5. Slack to Wadsden on 4th and 12 to beat Florida in 89 – The first game I remember. I had been to others, but this is the one that I actually remember. Florida got their only TD off an early turnover, and it seemed for the entire game that Auburn would do nothing against their defense. For reasons I still don’t understand, Florida didn’t cover Wadsden right in front of their own fans in the back corner. All Reggie had to do was throw it. This was the moment I knew that my life would be forever interwoven with Auburn football.

My Favorite Moments...I'll go with 5

1. 1993 UF comes to Auburn. Auburn wins a close one and no one wanted to leave. We were all just living in the moment. I was in the family section, right next to the student section and it was electric.
2. 1993 trip to LSU. Everyone expected Auburn to get blown out and not handle the crowd in Death Valley. Auburn came out and punched LSU in the mouth and the crowd was quite all game, except for the Auburn section of course. We were standing right behind the band, so we had to stand every time they struck up the victory song, which was quite a bit that day. My brother actually got into his first SEC game that day.
3. 1994 trip to the Swamp. I could watch that game over and over.
4. 1994 vs LSU. I was at work and remember thinking that we lost it. Then there was a pick, then another, and another….
5. I am not 100% on the year, but I believe it was 1999 Iron Bowl. I had a press pass and was on the sidelines as a “photographer”. The crowd was so electric before that game, that the hair was standing up on my arm. It was awesome. Then my brother comes out of nowhere on the sidelines with me. He waved his 1993 undefeated ring to the security gaurd and they let him onto the field. I think we were the only people other than the cheerleaders and players that were jumping up and down on the sidelines. Auburn was up at the half and it was shaping out to be a great game. Unfortunately my brother went to get a beer and never came back. The security guard would not let him back down to the field. That proved to be a bad omen for the rest of the game, because the train came off the track for Auburn after the half. We ended up lossing that game, but it was one that I will always remember. My brother played one season for Auburn(1993), and as you all know they won every game that year. The next time he was on the sidelines, Auburn was handling Alabama. I know it is all coincidental, but I think if he would have stayed on the sidelines for this game, there might have been a different outcome.

1983 Iron Bowl......

Got completely soaked and feared for my life, but what a great game. I will always remember “it’s great to be an Auburn Tiger”, and “SEC – SEC – SEC” as we floated out of the stadium.

From the greybeard section

1. Gotta be the Punt Bama Game-if you weren’t there, you have no idea-I was lucky enough to be there even though I was at the wrong end of the stadium.

2. Sully wins the Heisman at UGA in 1971. Greatest individual performance (and team performance) I’ve ever seen. Good time too-what little I remember of it.

3. 89 Iron Bowl-maybe the most important win in AU history. I had to to looking for a VHS player last year just so I could replay the old copy I had (label say “First Time Evah’” on it, nuff said.)

4. LSU interception game-most fun, happy ending game.

5. FSU game where we came back to win-not sure which one. One of Dye’s teams.

That FSU game was

A Hell of a game. What about 1990 FSU win 20-17 with a last second 38 yd field goal by Jim v w . I recall Bowden trying a fumble rooski or something funny near the end of the game. That was a great one.

I missed that game b/c my parents knew it would end past my bedtime (i was 6, and mad as hell). I didn’t miss another home game until we moved to north carolina in 1999 and missed the opener.

Nothing but nothing could ever be better than the first time ever !

 1. Auburn beats bama 30-20 in the first time bama came to Auburn in ‘89. Twenty of 24 Ala. sportswriters did not give Auburn a chance against undefeated and # 2 ranked Alabama. Ray Perkins said he would end the series before he would let bama set foot on Auburn campus. But it happened and no amount of words can ever explain what it was like. The whole atmosphere of the pre game, the game, & the post game was beyond belieff. Being at the game remains one of the top 5 events of my entire life.
Running back Stacey Danley said " Never, ever, ever have I experienced anything like that. I’ve been to a couple of Superbowls, but that was an unbelieveable experience … it was so loud and so emotional."
 2. Reggie Slack hitting a streaking Alexander Wright down the sidelines for 44 yards to set up the first TD in ‘89. Electrifying an already deafening home crowd. Slack had his best day as a Tiger completing 14 of 26 passes for 274 yards.
 3. Pat Dye leads Auburn over bama in the Iron Bowl for the first time in 10 years ( Bo over the top).
4.Shane Wasden catching a 4th & 11 TD pass from Slack with 26 seconds to go in the back of the endzone against Florida. The play taking place in front of where we sat . The crowd noise was some of the loudest I have ever experienced at Jordan-Hare and the ground , the stands literally shook !
 5. Lawyer Tillman’s Iron Bowl reverse to victory . Unbelieveable- Unbelieveable!
6.Nix coming off the bench cold in the Iron Bowl to replace Stan White, on 4th & 15 lofts the pass to Sanders in the endzone again in front of were we sat at the time in section 44.
7.The field goal kick by Holms in ’ 97 to win the Iron Bowl 18-17.
8.Aundray Bruce intercepts a pass against Ga. Tech to win the game at Grant Field and keeps on running out of the stadium through the tunnel.
9.Oct. 13, 2001 in Gainesville, Fla. # 1 Florida beaten on Damon Duval’s field goal with 10 seconds to go.
10. (Tie)Pat Sullivan’s performance in beating the Tide in the 1969 Iron Bowl. The victory was capped off by punter Connie Frederick faking a punt and running an 84 yard TD to trounce the tide 49 – 26.
10. (Tie) Quarterback Jimmy Sidle leading the Tigers to a come from behind victory against Tennessee 22 – 21 in 1962.

Pat Nix coming off the bench.....

and hitting Sanders for the TD was one of the most exciting moments I ever had in Jordan-Hare and that’s saying a bunch as there were many exciting moments for me there. Bo over the top is one of my favorite Iron Bowl Memories as is Punt Bama Punt. Tre Smith running wild as a freshman in the Iron Bowl is definitely one as well. Cadillac burning the Bulldogs between the hedges for 167 yards (I still rub that one in to my stinking dawg friends). The AU defense holding Emmit Smith to pocket change in his final season to assure him and his classmates to be winless against the Tigers was awesome…..but to see Emmit crying like a school girl on the sideline even after the rest of the gator squad had left the field? That was priceless. Brodie spending more time on his back than a “Kansas City Hooker” was fantabulous. Watching Meyer call time as Wes Byrum split the uprights only to watch him do it again was stupendous. And even though we lost the game watching the Georgia faithful get drenched was funny as hell….and so yes it is one of my favorite memories. Too many to list to be honest……maybe I was in school too long.

I would have gone to bammer if my grades hadn't been good enough to go to AU

by Todd92 on Jul 10, 2010 9:16 PM CDT up reply actions

Todd you are so right on all on those points !

Nix to Sanders rates with me up there with Slack to Wasden. Both great, great, Auburn moments. I believe the Nix to Sanders TD will be remembered longer due to it being one of those crucial Iron Bowl situations where all of our heartbeats slowed and then raced with overwhelming emotion at the result.
Although I do not usually get pleasure from seeing a competitor give his all and wind up shedding tears in defeat , I do have to admit I was not as sympathetic to Emmit, because he had led us to believe he was coming to Auburn and at the last moment switched and signed with Fla. (poetic justice ?).
The Tre Smith performance was definitely sweet, how proud and happy we all felt.
For a while after that Iron Bowl I sported a bumper sticker which read " Honk if you’ve sacked Brodie."
I almost listed the ’86 Ga. game but tried to stay with wins. However, I must say that the refs won the game for them by calling a Brent Fulwood TD back due to a quick whistle on the play. But at least we found out that nothing stinks like a wet dog !

Wow, this was tough to figure out, but here goes...

I was a freshman at AU in 2004, just to give you an idea of what “generation” I come from. In descending order…

10. 2006 — Go-ahead TD @ alabama. I remember that from where I was sitting, I couldn’t quite see what was going on in that corner of the end zone. But when all the AU fans around me started going crazy, I knew we had scored a TD. It had been 15-14 alabama prior to that, but with the TD and the 2-point conversion Auburn brought it to the final score of 22-15.
9. 2007 — Wes Byrum FG @ Florida. Like most of us, I hadn’t even expected us to win this game. I was shocked when we went up 14-0 and had a chance to get the victory. Gainesville was eerily silent after this game, except for the occasional “WAR EAGLE!” of course.
8. 2006 — Eric Brock’s goal-line stop on final play vs. LSU. One of the greatest AU games I’ve ever been to. Wow.
7. 2005 — Cox to Aromashodu, fumble, recovery in end zone by Courtney Taylor and eventual game-winning FG @ Georgia. I’ll never forget being in the stands for this with my brother and his then-girlfriend. Just before this play I got that awful feeling of “Well, it looks like we’ve lost this one…” It was so nice to rub it in the Dawgs’ faces that night in Athens.
6. 2005 — Dominating #8 alabama. This is a game I’ll always remember. Auburn was up 21-0 on alabama in the FIRST quarter. Had it not been for Tuberville’s conservative play-calling, we could’ve destroyed alabama by 30 that night easily.
5. 2004 — Two-game sweep of Tennessee in Knoxville and Atlanta; SEC Champions. Up 31-3 at halftime in Knoxville, and then taking it to them again for the SEC title.
4. 2004 — Defeating #5 Georgia 24-6. I remember listening to the radio earlier in the week and hearing them call it “the biggest game this town has seen since 1989.” I had a monster hangover for this game lol, but it was amazing.
3. 2004 — 4th-and-12 conversion and ensuing go-ahead TD vs. LSU (also the Junior Rosegreen INT that sealed the deal). I remember being in the student section and I had to cover my eyes for the 4th-and-12. I couldn’t watch. Never saw that play in person. But the crowd of AU fans went crazy when Courtney Taylor caught the pass, much to my relief. The TD was incredible, and the missed XP made me sick to my stomach until we got another chance at it. After we won this game, you knew we’d be tough to beat that season.
2. 2003 — Cadillac’s 80-yard TD on the 1st play from scrimmage vs. alabama. The first play from scrimmage that I ever saw in person at an Iron Bowl! Definitely the loudest I’ve ever heard Jordan-Hare Stadium, with the possible exception of…
1. 2006 — Blocked punt and Tre Smith’s TD vs. Florida. The place went crazy. I remember we were all standing sideways in the student section because it was the only way we’d all fit.

HONORABLE MENTION:* These didn’t quite make the top 10, but deserve to be mentioned…

- Final pick-6 vs. West Virginia in ’09 that basically sealed the deal.
-
Neiko Thorpe goal-line stop in OT vs. Northwestern in the ’10 Outback Bowl.
- Defeating Georgia in OT in 2000.
-
Defeating Syracuse in 2OT in 2002.

Georgia 04

The best game an Auburn team has played in my lifetime. Bar none. That Georgia team was a meltdown against UT from being undefeated that year. I still think they were the 3rd best team in the country that year. 24-6 doesn’t even begin to show how dominant of a performance that was.

I was at that Syracuse Game...

Man….what a game!

Upon moving to AL, I let my wife decide who she would root for. After one day at a new job full of Bama fans, she met me at the door with a hearty cry of "WAR EAGLE"

My top ten will be a bit younger; reflecting my age.

Quickly, in no particular order:

1. Cadillac running for a TD on the first play from scrimmage against the ruby elephants.

2. Courtney Taylor’s catch against LSU late. The noise in the stadium was incredible after this. One of the very best feel good moments of my life. I also love Rod Bramblett’s call on this. I’ll go to AuburnWarEagle.com and watch this video over and over again.

3. Damon Duvall sending the gators packing in 2001. During my birthday party which was delayed for 2 weeks for reasons I can’t remember(glad it was now). This made the evening very special.

4. Aromashudu’s catch against Georgia late in the game, in 2005. A very good feeling, I was at a friends house who was throwing a party for the game. About half Auburn fans and half Bulldog fans and I remember them being very upset for the rest of the evening.

5. Our win against in West Virginia in 2009. Not a landmark contest in terms of AU football history. But the rainstorm, the comeback, and the build up to the game made this a very sweet victory to witness.

6. Wes Byrum beating the Florida Tebows twice. Wild Wild Wes! Wild Wild Wes!

7. Nix to Sanders in 1994. I was in grade school at the time so I didn’t fully grasp the impact, but I was excited. . I remember playing football in the yard for hours trying to emulate this play with friends.

8. Beating Georgia in OT in 2000. This game isn’t very important to a lot of you, but to me, it is a game that really fired me up. I went to every home game that year and this one has stuck with me to this day. I think about it everytime I go into the stadium now.

9. 2007 Iron Bowl. The first and only one I have ever attended. It was everything I expected and more.

10. The 2004 SEC Championship, beating the Vols twice and feeling like Auburn was invincible. A great season I was lucky to witness.

i couldn't stop smilin... reading all this... it is intoxicating.

and you’re damn right.

it is just as good as a baby being born.

all i can think of have been taken already. my most recent had to have been 2007 UF when we kicked the FG twice. i was buried in a mess of gators… and i loved every second… especially that we kicked it twice.
our defense was so damn fast that day… covering the short passes to harvin and those other crazy fast guys. groves was all over the field. when we had to drive the ball down the field and controlled the line of scrimmage with the run game… tate took over.
it was a beautiful thing to see the gators get pushed so hard off the line and get thrown off their gameplan so completely.

the other… 1993 the whole season- what a thrill as a freshman. UNDEFEATED. what a complete thrill.

1994 sanders catch was one (of many) memorable… did i just see that … double takes.

as i stood there… (got a bottle of beer thrown down on top of my head and busted my head open by a UF bastard)… you could hear a pin drop in the swamp after sanders went up and caught that pass from nix. #1 UF goes down. i could barely breathe.

I absolutely loved reading all these comments.

-From the old guys to the young, there is one one constant – The Auburn Spirit !
-My first real memory was the Punt Bama Punt game when I was a kid.
-I remember being at my uncle’s house and watching Reggie Slack hit Shane Wasden in the endzone with time running out to beat Fla. We almost went through the floor with all the hollering, jumping up and down we did.
-My most memorable moments were the 1993 undefeated season, the 2004 (13-0 ) season, and the 1980’s. Especially all of the 1980’s Iron Bowls. What an exciting decade.
