Darvin to the NFL?-It's Official-UPDATED

I've been hearing rumors that Darvin Adams is going to the NFL.  Does anybody know if there is any truth to that?  From what I understood, I thought that they had to decide by last Friday.  Is there any way that he did, but under the radar?  Personally, I think it would behoove him to stay.  There are a lot of good (dare I say better?) and much bigger receivers in this years draft.  He would probably go a little bit higher next year, though I never really see him going in the first few rounds.  From a selfish standpoint, I hope this is just a rumor, though I know he has a few kids and could probably use the money...

….of the news services have reported that Darvin declared, so the best guess is that he’s coming back. I would assume that he could still sign a free agent deal, but I don’t think he can be drafted if he missed the deadline.

The only mention of it I have seen was the NOTE at the bottom of this article by Andy Bitter.

I think the deadline was actually Sunday.

Apparently the news is coming from the AU rivals site.

So far...

It seems to be just rumor. I am having a terrible time finding any confirmation on this subject, and I do not trust rivals.com at all!
I’ll keep looking today for sure.

I've seen allot of talk about him leaving...

No solid evidence yet.

He is not on the

si.com list of ‘early entries’. Link is here.

I stand corrected....

Charles Goldberg had an article this morning. Good luck, Darvin! You will be missed next season!!

Auburn sports has him going.

Good luck Darvin – our AU family had so much fun watching you and wish you all the best in the NFL. We’ll miss you!

That's a heart breaking developement....

I know Darvin had a difficult time with that decision.
A Father, or Mother make sacrificial decisions everyday. He probably knows that another year would help him tremendously, but he really needs the money for his wife and kids.
Darvin Adams seems to be a good person, and I hope he gets his wish in the NFL, and makes enough money to get a great start on life.
Thank you Darvin, God Bless you and your family, and WAR EAGLE!

Andy Bitter has a story up...

“Another Auburn junior made himself eligible for this spring’s NFL draft: wide receiver Darvin Adams”.
That’s how it starts. here is the link…

I also appreciated Bitter's comment to someone questioning why Smoove was entering early:
Seriously, though, how much is he going to improve his draft stock in the next year?

He won’t be 6-5. He won’t run a 4.2 40. He’s going to be basically the same receiver.

Might as well start trying to draw a paycheck now when the stock of any Auburn player is going to be high.

—Andy Bitter

I don’t think that he will go high, but I do think that he will do well in the NFL. He’s got good hands. War Eagle and Good Luck Darvin Adams!!

I wish Darvin all the best.....

but he would have done well to have stayed for his senior year. He is behind a bunch of WR’s that are going in the draft and he didn’t have the kind of year that he did last season……next season he would have faired better with Trotter at QB and with a year more like ’09 he would have garnered more attention from the next level. All the same…..good luck Darvin.

Wow

Terrible news to be sure. I wish him luck. In case you guys haven’t tallied it up that is 3 Juniors and 24 Seniors that will need replacing. Chizik and the coaches have a tall task next year. We may be the youngest team in college football.

I just hope they erect the Saban statue/altar/shrine before he leaves

Dang

That hurts. There’s a lot of uncertainty about the NFL bargaining etc so maybe this is what he thinks he needs to do. He has been one of the most clutch receivers I can remember at Auburn and he will be missed no matter who steps up. I have seen a lot of playoff games where the ball is there and the receiver just can’t haul it in. That’s something about Darvin Adams. If the ball is anywhere near him, even in the neighborhood, he’s going to get it usually. I’d take that over some of the receivers going in on draft day who fit the NFL profile. He will not be forgotten and best of luck to him getting in with the right team and the right coach, that in itself can make or break a career.

Lots of work for AU to do to compete this next year. It’s going to be quite a tall order with all these guys leaving. I am sure glad our staff looks to be solid all the way through, we are going to need their cooperation to keep things going.

We certainly don't want to lose Darvin.....

he is a very sure handed reciever that knows how to get open down field…..but, if there is any good side to this for the depth chart it is that AU has recruited extremely well at WR the last couple of years and we are very talented and very deep at WR. Hopefully Deangelo Benton can live up to the hype this season along with Trovon Reed…..Emory Blake became a very reliable option for Cam this season and I for one look for him to become the goto guy next season.

As usual you got to the crux of the matter Todd

I wonder if there is a depth chart for 2010 that we can use to guess what it will look like for 2011. I have no clue where to find that.

I checked this out KB but it does not include returning starters

I am trying to fit the players to the 27 holes we have and neither of those is much help. Oh well, might have to wait till Spring. I am already looking forward to it. The Spring game could be a capacity crowd.

I wonder what Jeremy Richardson's status is in JC.....

it would be nice if he is eligible to enroll this year.
