Kris Frost Is A Tiger!
The ongoing soap opera started by the rivals.com site has finally reached a happy conclusion today. Future 5* recruit Kris Frost commitment to the Auburn Tigers is official. At least as official as can be until Feb 2nd which is national signing day.
Andy Bitter has this article up on his blog, and confirms our knowledge that our coaching staff would be able to find room for young Mr. Frost.
Welcome to the family Kris, and..

How do you think that he will be used?
Linebacker??
Or too early to tell.
Great news!! I had a hard time believing that the coaching staff ’couldn’t find’ room for such a talented athlete.

They will try him out at receiver first...
and if that doesn’t work out he’ll be at linebacker.

If that is true.....
maybe we decided to give him an offer after Darvin announced he was leaving. It opens up one more roster spot and the coaches can just ask another recruit from this class to take a gray-shirt or something.
I think with Cam and Nick both leaving...
We had plenty of scholarships available. The problem comes in with the maximum being set by the SEC each year at 28.
We still won’t have all 85 spots filled to start next season. Although, with only about 12 seniors on the 2011 team, we will get caught up next year.

I was ecstatic
when I read this earlier. Great pickup. This is really turning into another great class… and just wait til next year. For most teams, the year after a National Championship is when they get the best recruits. I have high hopes for more good seasons to come
I'm an Auburn fan because I go to Auburn. You're a Bama fan because you went to Walmart.
I wonder if Bryan Matthews......
feels like an idiot.
I don't troll so I reserve the right to berate trolls as I see fit.
Just so you know I won't forget.....LSU Jonno predicted we would finish 5th in the west in '11.
What is his natural position? Did he play tight end in high school?
I have heard his name mentioned alot but don’t know much about him. Sounds like an athlete like Goodwin or Reed? Appreciate any info. I have limited funds with a couple kids down on the plains
He played both receiver and linebacker in high school.
I think that he got more reps at linebacker. He is hard to block and recorded something like 5 sacks last year.

He is a monster on both sides of the ball!
I saw him play live once this year and once last year. He is a pretty good WR, but will likely end up playing on defense. Defensively he is always in on the play and took great angles to ball carriers. He can play sideline to sideline and has great game speed. His team (Butler, Matthews, NC) won their last 31 games with 2 state titles in there. He is a winner, a good student, and a hard worker. I’m really looking forward to seeing how he does at AU!!!
WDE!!!!!
A funny thing happened over at the rivals site today...
5* recruit Brent Calloway suddenly became a 4* recruit. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. Probably because he switched schools.
Anyway, Kris Frost obtained a 5th star, as I predicted he would. One other puzzleing developement was Angelo Blackson losing a star to 3* for whatever reason.
I personally could care less if they call all our recruits 2*, as long as our staff says they are good enough, that’s all the endorsement I need.

It's all about development, anyway right?
We have seen 5 star recruits get squandered and several 2/3 star recruits become football rock stars!!
It’s really going to be exciting to see how this talent gets developed!!
Okay-heading home, in the cold and snow, AGAIN. You would think that I would be used to it by now :)

stars mean nothing
need proof? Jonathan “Crapton” Crompton was a 5 star quarterback on rivals. I rest my case
I'm an Auburn fan because I go to Auburn. You're a Bama fan because you went to Walmart.
I would rephrase that to.....
“stars are not a guarantee of success at the next level. Need proof? Jonathon Crompton was a 5 star QB on rivals and Michael Dyer was a 5 Star RB”…….just sayin.
I don't troll so I reserve the right to berate trolls as I see fit.
Just so you know I won't forget.....LSU Jonno predicted we would finish 5th in the west in '11.
sound argument
my point remains though. While most 5 stars live up to their expectations (ie. Cam Newton and Michael Dyer shows promise for the future) others are total busts. On the other side of it, scouts can misjudge some talent and lowball players on their stars (darvin adams and nick fairley were both 3 stars). moral of the story is, while rivals and scout can be good gauges of recruits, nothing is written in stone and guys can surprise you.
I'm an Auburn fan because I go to Auburn. You're a Bama fan because you went to Walmart.
they dropped several other AU commits in value as well.....
Quan Bray, Kiehl Frazier, Greg Robinson, and Robenson Therezie rating and ranking all went down, although they remained 4 stars.
A week and a half ago when Kris Frost initially committed during the UA All American game, we jumped to 8th in their team rankings. Now we sit at 10th. Hmmmmmmm. They won’t be able to keep us out of the top 5 anyway. From what I have been reading on all of the pay sites we are in the lead big time for DB Erique Florence , DB Marcus Roberson, DT Gabe Wright, and TE Brandon Fulse.
In addition, we will likely add 2 more RB targets before all is said and done. The main target here is Isaiah Crowell who we are in great contention for with Georgia and Bama. He will be visiting Auburn on the final weekend before signing day. Tre Mason, Andrew Buie and Marlin Lane are the other 3 potential signees at RB and from what I have read, we could have all of them if we wanted them. Checking out their profiles, I wouldn’t be upset with any of these guys coming to the Plains :)
We should also be adding 2-3 more O-line targets in this class as well. The word is that current Texas soft verbal Christian Westerman is an Auburn lean at this point and should ink with us on signing day. We are also still in the mix for LSU verbal La’Ell Collins and uncommitted top 5 rivals OT Cyrus Kouandjio. Sources are saying that if we get a visit from Kouandjio on the final weekend he will likely sign with AU. Our back up plan here is Xavier Ward who is ours if we want him.
DE Ray Drew is probably the biggest guy on defense that we are battling for, but some are saying that because of the relationship he has already made with Coach Rocker and our team chaplain Chette Williams we are the favorite at this point. Drew is himself a minister. DE/LB Devaunte Sigler is Auburn’s to lose if Drew falls through.
The future is certainly looking bright!!!!
WDE!!!!!
Didn't Kiehl...
also receive his fifth star??

nope
they actually dropped him, although he led his team to a 3rd straight state title and was the first player in Arkansas history to win the state champ game MVP 3 times, lol. He is still a 4 star, but they dropped him in their rankings….
Kiehl rec'd a fifth star at Scout.com...

I just saw that..
funny how that works out, huh?
Rivals even wrote in their article about the 12 new 5 stars and 2 that dropped how they don’t care where the player’s are headed and that they have received negative comments from Auburn fans, lol. Why so defensive I wonder? hmmmmmmm.
It's all politics at the top...
settle it on the field ain’t happening when it comes to recruiting nat’l champeenshups.

True!
and the IB is going to be the game that decides who goes to Atlanta for the next several years at very least. Next season is going to be a bit of a retooling year for us and anything is possible with this coaching staff, but we will only be losing 12-14 guys after next season. Look out in 2012 with the schedule leaning back in our favor again!!
I'm afraid it won't be that easy...
Check out the top 25 vclasses in recruiting and find the entire SEC West, and perrinial powers FL, UGA< and Tenn.

lol, yeah
I like our chances though. Those guys are always recruiting like that. Well at least LSU, Bama, UT, UF. You know what you will get from Arky as long as Petrino is there. All offense, marginal at best defense. The difference now is that if we continue to recruit like this, we will be on par with anyone in the country talent wise. I can’t ever remember us putting together 3 top 5 classes in a row, which will likely happen if we follow suit next season after winning the MNC.
This is great news.
I can’t wait for Feb 2 to see what Chizik and crew pull in. I believe we are going to be just fine in 2011 even after losing 27 players.
he is going to South Carolina or Bama
He’s from the same school as Marcus Lattimore and is considered a SC lean right now. I would rate Clowney and Ray Drew very close to even, so if we can land Drew we are golden :)
While many believe he is a longshot...
I would not put anything past this staff.
This kid is dirt poor, from what I gather at other sites, and his family would have an extremely difficult time seeing him play.

The University has petitioned the NCAA.....
To have Shon Coleman’s scholly count towards 2012 since he won’t be able to play until then. If that happens, then we could pull another top O-lineman, and we would be close to the top O-line class two years running.
Jeff Grimes turning down Texas will pay huge dividends, count on that!
Come and join me at http://trackemtigers.com
Westerman is a near lock now
and if we can add La’Ell or Kuoandjio we will be there!
I can’t see the NCAA denying that petition given the circumstances.
I don't want to seem harsh...
especially after the favorable Newton decision, but we are talking about the NCAA here.

True
anything is possible there, but I think we have a little wiggle room even if they deny it. Not every guy is going to qualify. It is possible, but unlikely. If we had room to fit Frost in, we will make room for a 5* o-line prospect if they want to come to AU :)
After the year the NCAA had, egg on face wise, I don't see them getting into any controversial issues
I think they will lay low for a while.
I just hope they erect the Saban statue/altar/shrine before he leaves
Think about it this way
You have made decisions that have gotten you killed in the media. You are faced with another one and the first reaction is oh crap, we need to pull back. Politics are as prevalent in college football as in Washington. When you are in a bad position, pull back, punt, then play defense. How is that for an analogy.
I just hope they erect the Saban statue/altar/shrine before he leaves
You are making a very good argument
I would not argue against your logic, in this case.

Thanks
Look for the NCAA to be toothless for a while until they can meet and create a new bunch of bylaws. I see them having only two outs. Back off or come down hard on everyone. They don’t have the staff to come down hard on anyone so I see them backing off. My personal feeling is that they will just screw it up more, but I will wait and see.
I just hope they erect the Saban statue/altar/shrine before he leaves
Hey...
did y’all see where Marcus Roberson texted Bryan Mathews that he committed to TexTech, and then sent one saying, I am still open?
Kids!

When was that?
that is funny, and tells me that he is pretty much set with AU if he is willing to joke about something like that :)
this afternoon!
I don’t know what to make of it. If he is playing games, he needs to get away from AU. Weall about bidnez
Come and join me at http://trackemtigers.com
yeah, BM gets what he deserves
after the Kris Frost fiasco. I’m still a bit weary of him trying to be a mouth piece for the coaching staff on that one.
I wondered if he overstepped his bounds with the staff...
I don’t know him personally, and would not run down his name,, but that incident was uncomfortable from the start.
Come and join me at http://trackemtigers.com
If he did, I'm hoping he was at very least warned.
That could have turned into quite a bad situation if we could not have fit KF in.
You have been following...
too many football players on Twitter. “bidnez”?? Love it!!
