Looks Like Malzahn Is Staying At Auburn... For Now
Heard Randy Edsall the Coach of the UConn Huskies is close to accepting the job at Maryland, Thank God! Edsall took Uconn's program from a D1AA to a D1 BCS bowl team, so good luck to him and hopefully he does well in Maryland too. Connecticut lost to Oklahoma 48-20 last night in the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona.
Here's the article.
Hopefully the last week of preparation can go without any distractions. War Eagle and Go TIgers!

My guess is...
….the coaching carousel is far from over. I think the Michigan job could be a huge chain-reaction deal. They got embarrassed by Mississippi State, just killed. If they fire Rich-Rod and hire Jim Harbaugh, then Stanford will need a coach. Pitt needs a coach. UConn needs a coach. Mark Richt’s probably not safe right now, either, although I think he survives. I think a lot of Bulldog folks are upset by the team’s no-show against Central Florida. Remember, this is the fan base that fired Jim Donnan for going 40-19. I think there’s still a lot of movement going on out there.
My sentiments exactly
Mike Leach, even though he is a nut will get a job somewhere. My guess is UConn. Pitt is gunshy after the fiasco and they want someone more stable. Also the chain reaction could extend to the NFL, there will be some changes there and a college coach could move up, (don’t know who, but possible). I think Ga cans Richt. We are not out of the woods keeping Malzahn yet. He is too hot a commodity to not be on the short list of someone. Even though he turned down the 3 mil at Vandy does not mean he will turn down the same money at a school where he can win. Standord, Michigan, UConn are all possiblites but if Richt gets canned he goes there if offered no doubt. Here’s hoping Richt gets one more year.
I just hope they erect the Saban statue/altar/shrine before he leaves
I agree,
We have to accept that Gus will be gone, if not this year, then def. next year. The carousel will spinning at a very fast pace within the next two weeks.

Also heard Dabo at Clemson could be on the way out
Seems like a perfect fit for Gus

Clemson
would also be a good fit for Rodriguez…but still Gus would do really well there.

Over at the maryland sbnation blog...
Total meltdown. Their already fickle fan base(which can’t fill there stadium) is talking of major season ticket cancleations!

I haven't been to there site yet...
I can say however, that if that is indeed who Maryland signs as a coach, they had to settle for less than what they wanted.
This is not a knock on Edsel, more a question of Maryland’s desire to exceed right now, and take advantage of a weak ACC.

Oh, I agree.
…..Maryland wimped out hiring Edsel. They’ll do OK, but they would have kicked some serious butt with Leach next season. They are pretty loaded, for an ACC team. They already run a pass-centric offense, and they put up 51 points in their bowl game. A heavy dose of Leach’s methods would have been something to watch!
Pitt or UConn is a possibility...
but not Stanford, Michigan or UGA. Pitt and UConn wold be a good 1st stop. Stanford, Michigan and UGA will want established names with winning credentials…..I’m thinking of Gary Patterson or Chris Peterson….Les Miles for Michigan if they can’t lure Harbaugh.
If Malzahn can’t land Maryland, he most likely won’t make it to a more established football power. An AD is going to really thing twice about hiring somebody that got rebuffed by Maryland….opens you up to a lot of second guessing.
Col.Angus may be rough, Col.Angus may not smell like a bed of roses, but deep down Col.Angus is very sweet. If I overstay my welcome, just tap me on the head!!
The team has just held it's last on campuspractice of the year...
Here’s what Coach Chizik told the press…
“It’s a unique environment and I just don’t want there to be any surprises,” he said. “We’ve got one goal in mind. And I want them to step off that plane tomorrow and understand that this is a business trip.”

or does it look like Chizik is paying huge dividends? Not just Wins and losses, but the way this team and coaching staff go about their monumental tasks.

I don't think that's technically houndstooth
it’s not herringbone either. not sure what it is exactly. Close enough to houndstooth to be avoided for sure! Can we not get one with tiger stripes???
"I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass...and I'm all out of bubblegum."
Actually, I think its supposed to mimic the pattern on the crystal football.
That border’s just a little too close for comfort, though. However, I’d be happy with pink polka dots if it means we won!

has anyone considered that malzahn might just be happy?
I guess he’d be a fool not to just see what’s out there, but this guy was a high school coach 5 years ago! He probably made $50k a year. Next year he will earn $1mil…20 freaking times what he made 5 years ago. We all know AU is a great place to live and raise a family. As of now both he and his wife probably have nice vehicles that are loaded. A nice house that’s paid for or will be after next year, and his kids education covered along with a nice retirement egg if he isn’t a moron. I think we’d all agree he isn’t a moron. This country has become so obsessed with "keeping up with the jones’ " that we’ve forgotten that quality of life does not go hand-in-hand with salary. He doesn’t strike me as a “silver spoon” kind of guy so I’ sure he understands that. Gus probably has more money than he knows what to do with now so he’s stuffing it in the mattress at home and just enjoying his time at Auburn. It’s not all about the money with some people. Heck, Norm Chow has been an OC for 23 years! He’s interviewed for a total of 6 HC positions and never gotten the job for whatever reason, but that didn’t make him any less of mastermind OC.
"I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass...and I'm all out of bubblegum."
I think I know where you are going with this...
I don’t think malzahn is going to be satified until he proves to himself, that he can make this offensive strategy of his work at the highest level.
His personality type does not need anyone else’s approval, he’s a prove it to myself kinda man!

Lots of smoke at Georgia tonight. Could be staff changes. Could be more

UGA would be stupid if
they didn’t consider serious staff changes. Every year they have underachieved. There seems to be poor focus and an increase in player thuggery. I think that Richt is losing the ability to lead the team. I think it comes down to his buy out clause and how badly the Bulldogs want a change.

I realistically look for big changes to come this week.
I believe , like you, that Richt has lost control, or the desire to control, his team. The AD that got arrested, and all the players problems show me a terrible trend for the reigning “Fulmer Cup Champions”. Not exactly the Championship the Dawg nation wants to have.
How long can the SEC commish allow Georgia to behave like this? Slive will have to step in, even if it’s just a private call to their University President.
It has been so bad, that they resorted to calling opposing team players cheaters, rather than look at the real problems they have.

I don't like Georgia, but it is painful to watch.
Hey, what happened to post that myauburn put up for New Year’s???

I live about 20 miles from UGA...
…so I need to start talking to some Dawg fans to get the vox populi from around here (I have been so stoked on AU I haven’t cared a flip about Dawg Nation at all!).

Right now:
Here is the coaching uproar list as well as I can tell:
NCAA
Pitt
UConn
Stanford-Harbaugh leaves
Michigan-RichRod is gone
UGA-Richt will not survive
Clemson-Dabo won’t either
NFL
Carolina
San Fran
Dallas-Probably Garrett though
Cleveland
Miami
KC OC
That’s a lot of job openings, and I am sure that I missed some, it’s going to be fun to watch
I just hope they erect the Saban statue/altar/shrine before he leaves
I don't see it....
Harbaugh might leave for the NFL but I will be surprised if Rich Rod gets the axe at this juncture….Greg Robinson (Michigan DC) however probably wasn’t allowed back on the plane after the shellacking his defense took against MSU. Rich Rod will get one more season as much as the Meechigan faithful want him gone. Richt will survive for now and so will Dabo…….the wild card in all of this is Harbaugh…..should Michigan fire Rich Rod it will be to get Harbaugh before he goes to the NFL if that were to happen Clemon might pull the trigger to get Rich Rod. I just think that Harbaugh spurns Michigan to go to the NFL……too many jobs open at the next level and Harbaugh would be a good hire for a number of NFL teams. That being said I don’t see Michigan hiring “Less” Miles and for that matter there are not a lot of good choices for Michigan as far as Championship caliber coaches are concerned and Michigan will not go through another transition coaching change and except for Harbaugh I don’t think they want to change directions 180 degrees again at least not yet…..Rich Rod hires a new DC and gets one more year and the Coaching Carousel is slowed significantly this year.
I don't troll so I reserve the right to berate trolls as I see fit.
Your reasoning is sound but
Sound reasoning does not always apply to head coaching changes. Footnote, See: Maryland, fire the ACC coach of the year and hire a Big East guy.
I just hope they erect the Saban statue/altar/shrine before he leaves
Maryland has a case of the Ole Miss....
which the major symptom is forgetting who your are and firing a good coach…..but as far as Edsell is concerned I think he is overall an upgrade from Fridge….but it may not be an overall noticable difference.
I don't troll so I reserve the right to berate trolls as I see fit.
maybe
since Mike Leach is trying to or tried to sue his former employer no future employers want any part of that guy. I really think he’s a good candidate for somebody, but who is going to take a chance on him in case he is nuts after all?
