Auburn Cleared of Wrongdoing in Newton Case

After nearly a year of endless speculation and bogus reporting, Auburn has been cleared by the NCAA of any wrongdoing in the Cam Newton case. The school was also cleared in the case of four former players who made pay-for-play accusations earlier this year on HBO's Real Sports. The NCAA released a statement a short while ago that said in part...

After conducting more than 80 interviews, the NCAA has concluded its investigation into Auburn University. The NCAA enforcement staff is committed to a fair and thorough investigative process.  As such, any allegations of major rules violations must meet a burden of proof, which is a higher standard than rampant public speculation online and in the media.

The allegations must be based on credible and persuasive information and includes a good-faith belief that the Committee on Infractions could make a finding.  As with any case, should the enforcement staff become aware of additional credible information, it will review the information to determine whether further investigation is warranted.

Well well well

I thought Auburn was done? I thought this would be the demise of our football program? All those fans at other schools, all those sports radio guys, and all those hack reporters said it was definitely coming…

Well guess what…you were all wrong!!!

I am happy that it is finally dropped. Heres the thing … i dont give a damn whether it turns out EVER to be true ( though I dont believe it is or ever was) the fact is regardless of anything that ever happens . It does nothing to change the fact that you all won every game last year. BOOM done. F*ck it all and move on … Ignore the annoying people who try to throw that shit in ur face.

Later guys ! and congrats

Unfortunately, this changes little

Those that wanted to believe that Auburn was guilty…still do. Those that weren’t inclined to rush to judgement…weren’t the problem anyway.

I am glad that it puts it to rest in terms of sanctions; but the PR black eye from this will never go away.

Where there's smoke there's fire!!!

…..from the hysterical hypocrites blowing smoke off their flaming britches!!!

Haters I told you that you would all be wrong because the only folks squawking was the media….and they just wanted you to eat the pablum that they were dishing out….and boy did you saps eat like pigs at a trough. Maybe next time you’ll listen for real facts instead of rumors and fantastic tales of people with axes to grind. Until then you have earned my much deserved scorn and derision. Losers.

Place, I say, place your bets! Money plays, loser stays! Everyone's a winn - well, not everyone.
Okay, I'll shut up. I'm not one that has to keep talkin'. Some fellas just have to keep their mouths flappin', but not me! I was brought up right, my pa used to tell me "shut up" and I'd shut up! I wouldn't say nothin'! One time, darn-near starved to death -

VINDICATION!!

While I totally agree with AU Tiger that this won’t change anything, it is still oh so delicious to know that there will be no sanctions, vacated titles or asterisks!! IT’S GREAT TO BE AN AUBURN TIGER!!! And this just in…Bammers SUCK!!!!

I have given up listening to Finescum but

An AU 1974 grad buddy of mine was tuned in and he said the Bammer callers were in full Meltdown mode. As everyone in the civilized world knows the only way AU could beat UAT is by cheating. Guess what Bammers, you were WRONG again. After leaving I am going straight to RBR to read the comments. Should be monumental.

I just posted the following on RBR

I have never commented over here and I know this is going to get me banned but AU cleared of all allegations as to the recruiting of Cam Newton. I guess we get to keep the trophy after all.

Damn, that feels good

The damage has already been done... but the vindication does help.

I have seen discrimination before… I have seen hatred before… but I have never seen what happened to AU happen in college football. This must have been the biggest public relations nightmare in NCAA history. We were presumed guilty before people EVER read one shred of information. Yet here we are… innocent. I am sure the next boot to drop will be the comparisons of AU to OJ.

The case from the start was without merit. AU explained itself. The NCAA even made decisions to allow AU to continue playing him. Yet the rhetoric from the media was relentless. It was a major five alarm fire…

and with all the smoke… there had to be a fire. Right?

WRONG!!!

This was yellow journalism at its finest. And it doesn’t just stop at the media… our neighbors up the road had a hand in it too. It’s the hypocrisy that grates on me the most. For all the hatred that was generated by Albert Means when Fulmer turned in bama…. they turned around and did the same thing to us. I struggle to understand why they piled on the rumor mill? Maybe because they were embarrassed that AU beat them in their own house when everyone knew bama was supposed to repeat as National Champions. Jealousy is a lousy sin.

Well, all I can say about that is I hope they don’t plea for mercy when the tables are turned. I wish no one ill but the fact of the matter is this is where forgiving gets really tough for me. All I can remember besides the vicious, hateful rumors is the monopoly money falling on the field or hearing the “son of a preacher man” being played. Let’s all hope we find a way to forgive… because I shudder to think what will be done by us in retribution.
