Friday Ramblings- Free at Last, Free at Last...

Thank God Almighty free at last

Didn't I tell you, huh? Didn't I say- just that? Never in my life have I witnessed a more public hanging of a man, than in the Cam Newton** case. To say that all of the Sheridan's, Schad's and Finebaum's of the world were wrong, would be equally an injustice. So here is my response, to the idiots.

Let me get this straight. USC cheats, and loses it's title, North Carolina cheats and receives sanctions, Georgia Tech cheats and receives sanctions, Boise State cheats, and gets probation, Ohio State cheats and you idiots defend them, still they get sanctions, and in every single one of those instances except the early stages of USC, you drug Auburn's good name through the mud as one of them. It's been 48 hours and not one of you inglorious bastards has had the decency to apologize to Auburn and it's faithful.

For the injustice to the Newton family, that you personally caused by spreading lies and innuendo instead of facts, I find you guilty. Guilty of unprofessional behavior, and horribly inefficient journalism. May you never be heard from again, and if you are, may nobody ever take you at your word(s).

For the slander of Cam Newton and his attempt to rehabilitate his college football career, after admittedly making mistakes as a freshman in college. I find you guilty. Your sentence should be a loss of employment with only a token mention ever again in quiet corners around the campus in Tuscaloosa.

For the slander against all things Auburn, I find you guilty! Your sentence should be the "piss bucket boys" for the infamous tree poisoner from Dadeville, Alabama, while he serves out his prison term(s).

So to you Joe Schad, and Danny Sheridan, and Paul Finebaum, and Pete Thamel, and Thayer Evans, and the wannbe's like Sports by Brooks, and every single other zealous idiots that screamed at the top of their collective lungs, that Auburn, and Cam were guilty. Your very worth could be poured into a thimble, and it would be found dry!

**Oh Snap! He gets to keep the Heisman Trophy too!

And just for the record, Jeris McIntyre is still one of my all time favorites.

Perfect timing....

To say that the NCAA letter couldn't have come at a better time would be false, but not by a whole lot. You see, this weekend we have a ton of visitors coming from all over the south to watch this game vs. the Florida Gators. Recruits, that have Auburn listed as one of their choices, probably have Florida listed as one.  Plus the 15 that have already committed to Auburn. A big time showing by the team, the fans, and most of all, the coaches is paramount to keeping the recruiting machine in overdrive.

According to Rivals.com these players and many more will be present this weekend...

OT [db]Shane Callahan[/db], Parker, Colo. (Chaparral) - Committed to Auburn

CB [db]T.J. Davis[/db], Tallahassee, Fla. (Godby) - Committed to Auburn

WR [db]Ricardo Louis[/db], Miami Beach, Fla. - Committed to Auburn

DE [db]Jordan Jenkins[/db], Hamilton, Ga. (Harris County)

DL [db]Leonard Williams[/db], Daytona Beach, Fla. (Mainland)

C [db]Matth Cochran[/db], Atwater, Calif. (Buhach)

The entire list is HERE.

Forget what I said earlier..

Earlier in the year, during our discussions about what each of us thought, concerning Auburn's chances and predicted record for the season, I mentioned this little gem..."Barring any major injuries".  Yeah, well forget that, Coach Chizik announced Wednesday night that LaDarius Owens won't be able to suit up this week either. Seems he's in a boot, and Joel Bonomolo will be his replacement. Aren't we far enough down into the reserves yet?

Chizik's job gets harder by the day.

Speaking of, "I should never have said that"....

The classless Bowden foot in mouth disease went off again in Birmingham this past week. This time however, it was Tommy that shot his mouth off with this bizarre statement....

(Wide receiver) Sammy Watkins is terrific. If I had Sammy Watkins, I'd still be there.

The reason he didn't have Sammy Watkins or any players of that caliber, is because he was unable to recruit them. So Tommy throws ice onto the former players he did recruit, and honors Watkins. There are tons more to say about this, but I'll just say one thing, stay classy Tommy.

Good Editorial KB but how do you really feel?

Seriously though, thanks for vocalizing my exact feelings. And I agree it’s good news on a big football game/recruit weekend.

I had this working, as soon as I heard the news....

It seems, after the comments on Acid’s post, that there are a lot of Auburn fans that feel the same way as I.
Thank you, by the way.

Still no apologies from anyone who dogged AU to death

No surprise there however. There is even a piece on AL.com this morning by Hicks saying that it is not over. Some people just can’t come to grips with the fact that the Crystal Ball is ours!!!!!!!!!!!

It takes a lot of hubris to admit that you are wrong.

The fact that we are expecting feckless individuals to do so means that our expectations are incongruous with Reality. It’s not like suddenly these folks are going to grow a conscious-it’s easier to say that this decision was made with a ‘wink wink’ or that the NCAA wasn’t thorough enough.

I’m not sure what else the NCAA could have done to somehow prove any wrongdoing? 80 people interviewed; financial records combed through; e-mails, texts and phone records reviewed. I’ve seen colonoscopies that have been less thorough, bet yielded evidence of something. In the USC, Ohio State, UNC cases—all had hard evidence. The crime against USC, which is a legitimate gripe IMO, is that it took the NCAA YEARS to get around to investigating it. The kids and coaching staff being punished now are not the ones that were remotely involved in the original acts. That’s egregious.

Two things here....

That after 13 months, zero wrong doings were found in the athletic program, is amazing. Our compliance staff deserves a really big atta boy!

The USC thing, while the kid’s there were not part of the problem, the current coaching staff was mostly the culprits in that whole program being unorganized. Kiffin, Orgeron, and company should have to stay there through all of it,without pay! Pete Carroll should have been fined a million bucks.

So, I don’t like kiffen either, but, he cant be blamed for reggie bush….he can/should be blamed for the mess he left at rocky top.

by Tiger on the mountain on Oct 14, 2011 11:55 AM CDT up reply actions

USCw's problems were not just Reggie....

Bush was the media event, but there were numerous recruiting violations as well, hence the severe penalty. Kiffin and Orgeron, were that recruiting combo that caused much of the problem.

So I'm watching ESPN yesterday...

I was in the gym and the TV was set on BSPN yesterday. The show was “Around The Horn” I think, (it’s the one where the four sportscasters “compete” against each other with their opinions), and the subject of Auburn comes up. The question is, "Do we owe Auburn an apology or is it really what that chick over at USA Today wrote where she said that it’s a case of the NCAA simply not having enough “teeth” to find out what really happened?" Can you guess what 3 of the 4 said?
So you see, we weren’t innocent after all. It’s just that the NCAA didn’t have the ability to subpoena which means they didn’t have the power to find out what really happened. But if they had! Oh, if they had!!!
WHAT A LOAD OF HORSE APPLES!!!

We innocent. They mad. War Damn Eagle!!!

by KickemInTheB3 on Oct 14, 2011 9:12 AM CDT reply actions

Well I can't blame them for feeling that way...

When Miami gets caught, Ohio State gets caught, Georgia Tech gets caught, North Carolina gets caught…and I’m sure I’m mising some more folks that “got caught”
Obviously they “know”, we are no better.

LMAO, its hysterical that the “journalists” who would scream bloody murder if you were to EVER judge someone based on the actions of another but they have no problem whatsoever it doing just that to Auburn. It justs goes to show that objectivity in the media died a very silent death a long time ago.

Place, I say, place your bets! Money plays, loser stays! Everyone's a winn - well, not everyone.
Okay, I'll shut up. I'm not one that has to keep talkin'. Some fellas just have to keep their mouths flappin', but not me! I was brought up right, my pa used to tell me "shut up" and I'd shut up! I wouldn't say nothin'! One time, darn-near starved to death -

I'll get blasted for saying this…but,

nobody was wrong, that includes the tiny fraction of CFB fans screaming Auburn’s innocence as well as everyone else screaming guilty. The NCAA clearly stated there wasn’t enough evidence available or currently attainable to meet a standard that would justify continuing to focus on this case.

In the end it doesn’t matter, AU won with Newton. Whether the crystal ball stays or not will matter less to the public with each passing day. It looks bad when you scream I told you so and celebrate an acquittal. It reminds me of Gotti fist pumping coming out of the courtroom.

Geesh dude...

Did you really just go there?
Comparing our frustrated relief to a mob boss who beat the system?
I actually feel sorry for you. You are not able to see the difference, between a 13 month investigation, that found zero wrong doing in the entire athletic department at Auburn, and a technicality that released a known crime syndicate leader.
The Media was wrong to jump to conclusions, and quote sources that were not credible. Plus, every single time some other schools got into trouble, they never failed to mention Auburn, or even worse, compare them to Auburn. If you can’t see the wrong in that, you are worse off than I thought.
