Friday Ramblings

Love from ESPN....sorta

Pat Forde has a unique way to describe Auburn's red zone wonder kid known affectionately as Lutzie...

If it's a passing down in scoring territory, The Dash would cover Lutzenkirchen with two defenders, three student managers and four members of the marching band. The Dash would be on him so hard, local authorities could file stalking charges. The Dash would invite any other player with an "AU" on his helmet to get open, but would not be beaten by Philip Lutzenkirchen.

You can read the post in it's entirety HERE.

Sad news indeed....

It is with the saddest of hearts that I must let you know THIS. Andy Bitter has been one of the best beat hacks(one last jab) to ever cover the Auburn football team. I really only follow four other writers, that do not post for this blog, on a regular basis, Andy is one of them, and will be missed. I have been checking his posts as many as 10 times a day for any new content. He has been insightful, and comprehensive while covering Auburn, so the Hokies fans will be getting a great guy, that knows his craft.

I personally want to wish Andy the best in his future endeavors covering the Virginia Tech team. His wife is thrilled, so Mr. Bitter is good on all accounts. Thanks Andy, it's been a great ride.

What they said...

Auburn's offensive line really looked better last week, and some say it will help down the road. Here is what Jared Cooper thinks....

"When you pick up yards every time you run the same play and they know what you’re running and you’re still getting positive yards every time, it does a ton for your confidence."

We certainly don't need this....

I hope all the hoopla, is much ado about nothing. Seems Jeff Holland, Father of Jake Holland, Auburn's middle linebacker, has paid for some power chips, and gave them to his son. Jake then proceeded to share with his team mates prior to the USCe win.

I do not understand why everyone is not fully educated on the dangers involved with this kind of thing. Always, check with the compliance department first! If the compliance people give it a thumbs up, then give it to your child athlete, not before you get approval.

What is so hard to understand about that?

Early struggles....

Either Sakerlina's "D" is getting weaker, or Auburn is getting better, we will know soon enough. It is my opinion that Auburn is improving. Maybe not as fast as some would like, but I have seen improvement.

One other thought on this teams early struggles. Last season we saw some scary performances out of Auburn on both sides of the ball, especially early in the season. Discount the Iron Bowl, and Auburn improved each week, and put its two best efforts in during the last two games. A total shellacking of USCe and holding the most prolific offense in all of FBS, to just 19 points. We can all agree that those two defensive performances were tremendous. That just may be the key this season. Keep getting better each game.

Next season will be really good, as long as this team learns to play each game, as if that's all that matters. Although I am not one to look that far ahead during the October stretch, you can't help but feel giddy at those prospects as an Auburn fan.

Hot nurse alert......

When the cast members of the TV show GLEE do a photo shoot, I usually won't even give it a second thought. In this case however, I couldn't help but think of our dear friend Jay Coulter, and his recent trip to the "butt doctor"

Glee_goes_auburn_medium

Arkansas week. Already?

Yea! It's Arkansas week. Makes it all worth while to know that in Arkansas, they enjoy life to the fullest. Notice the "Need Volunteers" link? Yeah, it's difficult to find good free help these days.

While there are several good things to like about our friends in and from Arkansas, there are some compelling reasons for DISTASTE.

I look for a steady diet of read option, and big plays offensively. Arky's "D" is not thought of as SEC caliber just yet, and Mad Dr. Gustav will exploit every single weakness any team has.

I'll refer to the comment made by the Colonel yesterday. We must have much improved play from our linebackers this week, or it will be a long silent flight home for our boys.

Here's to hoping for a win, and a solid performance from our Tigers. Most importantly, wishes for our team to escape injury, and assimilation to the Borg. Resistance may be futile, but it is necessary.

WAR EAGLE!

Power chips?

The hell? Brought to you by P.T. Barnum? The question isn’t whether the purchase, distribution and use of these things is some sort of rules violation — the question is whether purchase, distribution and use of these things is just plain silly. Answer – affirmative.

The linked article also informs us that the company that makes Power Chips also makes a performance-enhancing, all-natural spray made from . . . wait for it . . . dear antler fuzz, or something.

Let’s beat R-Kansas! War. Damn. Eagle.

My typical reaction to these sort of product is the same.......

however, this particular “deer antler velvet product” has already been banned by the NFL, PGA, and several other pro sports organizations which that doesn’t necessarily make the stuff legit it does cause a reason for concern.

You said it....

it’s crazy the risk some take for improved performance……I wonder how many of these kids juicing know who Lyle Alzado is.

No kidding.

Even stupider is risking disqualification from playing the game. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

Well in my case...

I’m dying of Muscular Dystrophy so juicing for me has been a last option. In their case, they’re throwing a great body away. I only wish I had their fortune of a healthy athletic body. I’m not depressed on it, but I don’t understand how you can throw health like that away. Hell, I get accupuncture all over my body just to make sure I can walk at Southern Union without giving out the next day. These kids have no idea what they’re just giving up like that.

It's Auburn against the world. Good luck world.

Sorry, Sparkey

I didn’t know that about you.

Well...

it’s not something I talk about unless it comes up and then I don’t hide it either. In this case, I’m about to get on steroids starting with HGH to build my muscles up and get them stronger as I’m losing strength all over my body. Haha, don’t feel sorry for me. I’m still a beer drinking, pill poppin, asshole from LA (Lower Alabama) I’ve got a great life and I’m not sad for a bit but sometimes my condition is painful and that can be depressing. Still, I’m not unhappy and have a great life, friends&family including you guys on here.

Good attitude

very optimistic….which is quite at odds with your raincloud view of AU football.

(but y’know…I’m on board with that too — this team has caused me more grey hairs)

I am sorry, did you say...

there is yet another scandal at Auburn?

What???

About deer antler fuzz?

No, really. Seriously. What’s it about.

LMAO. That’s it? If that is all they got brother, I’d say the media has got the wrong end of that deer. That’s not a horn they got…

And more pictures of hot nurses. I don’t think this profession get’s much endorsement from the rest of the nation. We should see more but maybe we need a second opinion?

Ah…. October… Auburn football…. and Arkansas??? Well, one thing is for certain… I will be eating BBQ at my house. Let’s hope this tiger defense continues to mature and play well. May Ladarius Owens knock Wilson on his tush and may TBell haunt every receiver they have… and let’s hear it for Lutz and Dyer… and D’Angelo too…. we need to stay ahead of the Petrino curve just in case.

May the sun shine on the Tigers. Always and forever!

do you have to go muddying things up with “details” and “facts”?

Actually...

The hot nurse bit was in response to Jay’s article about his first colon rinse, and in his recovery room, he mentioned a “hot nurse”, so I took a little jab at his ordeal.
Disclaimer, as the story linked to the photo indicates, the actress is from the cast of GLEE, and in a recent photo shoot, she wore AU apparel. The two aren’t even remotely connected, just humorous when combined, to me at least.

And KB not that I want to make this a political discussion.....

but I would gladly chip in for hookers and a stripper pole if we could have Bill Clinton back in office to run this country again especially if we could negate the presidential screwups of the current and previous administrations.

I wasn’t a big Clinton fan when he was in office, but as time went on I actually started to miss him (if only for the comedy relief his admin provided). The Clinton Saturday Night Live skits were some of the best ever.

Clinton looks like Reagan compared to Obama and Bush.

And Clinton was a disaster in his own right.

Step Up Game!!

If we are going to have a successful season, it starts here. The Stallworths, Bentons, Brays and Masons are going to have to show up and play a game for us. They supposedly have been waiting for their chance, now they will get it. They were all big stars at their respective High Schools so they should be used to shouldering expectations, now they get to prove why they WERE stars and why they WILL be in the future.

Hopefully we get Chris Davis back into the fold this week. Mincy scares the bejesus out of me…and he’s getting better….but I’d like to see Davis out there in his place. I think we will also need to see more Jonathan Evans, this week as I suspect they will try and get a Wingo/ Bates matchup to take advantage of the size differential as well. ( I still would like to see what Owens could do from the LB position)
The guys up front also need to have a big game to keep Wilson from feeling comfortable in the pocket. They don’t have to have sacks but they have to get in his face.

To win we will need to force a coupld of turnovers without doing the same and get some game changers out of the special teams….whether its returns or a couple 50 yarders from Parkey. I don’t think we can win this one straight up, strength against strength, not on the road anyway.

And can anyone point me to where I can get some deer velvet spray?? Me and the wife have a big date tonight.

Deer Fuzz and other Vodoo!

Well at least the Bammers can’t make an issue out of this ! The co. that sold all this vodoo to Holland’s dad ,sold it to the 2009 Tide’s National Champion Players.

Not a word out of Finebaum today. Do you think that would be the case if it did not involve the Bammers? He stuck to sticking up for Hank Jr! I am ashamed that I had to admit to turning Finebaum’s show on, but curosity got the best of me! Next time I have
the urge to turn Finebaum on, I will go see a nurse instead!
