Hmmm...

Anyone else very encouraged to see corey grant’s name on strength and conditioning and scout team offensive MVP? Looking like that young man is taking things seriously and will be a contributor next year!

With Grant...

….Mason and the others coming on, we might not miss Dyer that much. Assuming he doesn’t come back. I saw the guy keep running in last year’s BCS title game, and I think he has the stones to get back. Hope so.

Does anyone know if Dyer was even at the banquet?

If he was the Blake offensive MVP thing must have felt like a slap in the face. If he wasn’t there he must feel shunned by the team. I think we will hear more of this and I don’t feel it will be good. Just a feeling.

Now that the statue/altar/shrine is up, is it in Sabans contract that he gets to take it with him when he leaves?

On further review

IMO, this is the end of Dyer in Auburn. To have not being named the offensive mvp by your teammates is the ultimate “we don’t want you” slap. While Blake had a good year Dyer was obviously the most effective weapon. I don’t know what his problem is with the rest of the team but this snub is pretty condemning evidence.
We will miss him and I hope Tre steps up.

I don't know

Until we know more about the situation I think we are just doing more damage by trying to read the tea leaves. What if Dyer isn’t suspended for smoking pot. What if Blake was voted MVP because he’s the only guy we can count on to catch a ball rather than 1 of 3 very capable RBs? You know Dyer is reading some of of this stuff. IF we are all wrong about his attitude etc, how likely is it that he would be happy to stay and play when he reads all this and thinks the fans are all two faced. NC MVP, “Hey, son we love you! You’re the best”. Potentially make a bad decision or have external issues that influence your attitude for a short time (parents divorce, girlfriend issues, etc). “Don’t let the doorknob hit you!” I get it. These kids are getting a free ride and should be held to a standard, but from what the beat reporters have written this/last year or vids of the coaches have shown is that Dyer has not had ONE issue until now since arriving on campus. I just feel like I have to know exactly what happened at some point and if the truth never comes out I’ll still give the kid a second chance because everyone deserves ONE. After that I’ll write him off, but I still choose to believe that there is more to this story and I mean that in a good way.

My feeling

is that even if the team wanted to vote for Dyer, you can’t really award a player who has been suspended. It would be similar to ’you’re grounded, but here’s the keys to the new z series’……my hope is that Dyer takes some time and gets stronger (in character). Could you imagine how invisible he would be then?? It would be magic! Good luck, Mike Dyer. We’re pulling for you!

Was this some kind of sick joke?
Defensive MVP – Neiko Thorpe

Alabama fans, ask yourself this question: Is this who you want representing your University and your fanbase?

(stifling the urge to laugh)

That was my thought. I really wanted to make a wisecrack, but it seemed too mean.

Then I realized that it was probably more a statement about our defense.

Neiko

while his coverage skills have been lacking, he absolutely stepped up his tackling skills this year. While lots of guys were taking bad angles and/or not wrapping up, Neiko was on the ballcarrier like a spidermonkey!
